I will never forget the first time I saw/heard this performance. I was hypnotised. Imho by far the best piece of Sigur Rós. Popplagið is beyond what normal music can achieve.
I was lucky enough to see U2 and Radiohead when they were at the peak of their powers. I also caught Leonard Cohen in one of his final concerts. At their best, each of these offered moments that felt transcendent and somehow much more an historical event than a music concert. But seeing Sigur Ros live (twice now, from opposite sides of the Australian continent) was the only time an entire concert felt like a religious rapture. These guys seem to be able to tap into the soul of the Earth and harness the spirit of the Heavens at the same time. I've never encountered another musical experience remotely like it.
First time I saw this song performed in 2006 the usher had to come wake me from a stupor and lead me out of the venue. To this day I have absolutely no recollection of how long I sat there with my jaw on the floor. It was the single most incredible concert experience of my lifetime and this version from that same year is the best representation ever captured on film. Simply sublime.
Huge credit went to Amiina. I still remember seeing them together played. The particular version of Popplagio was just gradually intensed with their strings and Orri's percussion.. the live experience was just way out of this world. Can't remember how long we clapped our hands after this song ended.
Watched this gem with my Biology teacher in class today. After that we spent the entire period talking about music. Definitely the most memorable part was listening to this. I would tune in and out from it and every time I did it sounded like it just got better and better each minute.
Holy crap. With the screens and the shadows... what a great show. I've never seen Sigur Ros ! I've been to well over 600 concerts since I was teen (I'm 63)... but I gotta see them !
I still haven’t heard anything like them. There are other, great post rock bands (Godspeed in particular, check out lift your skinny fists) but none of them had a pop sensibility like sigur ros does. As subtle as it can be, all of their songs have incredibly memorable hooks and I love it.
Grande Sigur Rós,ojala vuelvan a Chile. 🇨🇱🇮🇸 A deleitarnos con su música 🎶..! 👍😌😌

This song is immense. Imho their most powerful piece. I have always thought it pairs up with track #5 (Alafoss) of the album (). Sigur Ros made a lot of beautiful records I love, but to me these two tracks are of another level.
I saw them in Cleveland, Ohio a few years ago playing with the string quartet and a brass quartet. Popplagio was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. I should add that I saw Pink Floyd in 1971, 73, 75, and 77.

I was! October 2008. Most transformative concert experience ever, and nothing will ever top it. So happy to see others constantly referring to that night, with this song. Excited to see them again at the Greek next month.
Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever recorded. The catharsis it evokes has no equal.
200% agree ❤❤

Wow! 😍❤

Same...really.
Me too. My jaw just dropped and couldn't close it for the next 5 minutes after this song ended...
@Vincent Alcala well said. I was undone when I experience this live
Same here, we saw them by accident at Hurricane Festival in 2006 and were absolutely blown away. I will never forget that 👍
Yes, there is nothing like it in music. Saw it for the first time this year and it was like watching popcorn pop.

Agreed. I saw them at the Beacon and was so floored I went back the next night

I saw them at Werchter ‘23 yesterday. They played this song. Mesmerizing.
This is on another level of everything

Goosebumps. Every single time.
The song that started my love of the band. Absolute masterpiece.
This audience, on this night, witnessed something truly magical.
Just here for my daily dose of goosebumps and silent tears. Obsessed.
I have been twice in a Sigur Ros concert in Barcelona and this masterpiece has no equal. It's absolutely involving. Awesome.

The best performance of their best song hands down.
Look for the version done in Cleveland about 7 or 8 years ago.
This song live is an out of body experience !
I agree
Yes.
Saw them in Dallas last year and it was incredible.
In my humble opinion one of the best live gigs recorded and on UA-cam. :)
I wasn't even prepared for the power of their performance.. Absolutely amazing experience, much more than concert.
