Hey man. I’ve replaced the coolant but my car is running a bit warm. 100 on a regular. I didn’t replace the thermostat (since I broke the holding bold) but will be taking into the mechanic soon. I also didn’t replace the fan clutch. Do you suggest the fan clutch as well? Do they get old and need replacement every once in a while? What is your normal running temp? Thanks.
Hi mate, should be in the low 80’s. For the fan clutch do the following test. Have the car running at operating temp, idling open the hood and have someone stopping the engine. Count how many seconds it takes to the fan to stop spinning. If more then 2-3 seconds then it’s gone
@@MinkMood thanks man. It stopped right away. Also, when cold and I try to spin it, it barely spins. Stops about two spindles over (not even a quarter turn).
While doing the coolant flush I was able to drain the radiator but both the engine block plugs are rusted shut and rounded off my original coolant color is green and I am switching over to the Mercedes blue do you think I would be fine if I just do the radiator flush ?
I thought the blue coolant was for later models. I use that in my newer BMW, but for my old Benz W126, I use Zerex G05. I think it's yellow, if I recall. Not sure it matters.
Like your videos, but I think they need one step forward. Maybe for example for this one you can record a test drive, showing that the car is running perfect, that the temp is ok, and the fans is working properly, so, job done succesfully!
@@sophiathe380sl I ran without thermostat for the flushing process. Then when all the water is out, and before filling it with 50-50 you install a new thermostat
Guys- quick question, do you have to replace the thermostat every time you do a flush. My service records show the thermostat was replaced 10,000 miles and 5 years ago, wondering what to do. Thanks!
I really like the video. I'm working on restoring a 380SL myself. Do you use a shop manual to find out where things are and how to remove them? I'm trying to follow your video as to where the thermostat is.

The burping process. How is that done? Do you use the kit and run the vehicle till the bubbles stop and fill accordingly.
Exactly, it’s important that the filler tank is above the entire cooling system for the bubbles to come out.

Yes, try running a couple of cycles of distilled water, flush and repeat 3 cycles. Ideally water should come transparent

The most important thing is not to mix them. In my case was running green from an auto parts store , flushed all of it and then when with MB blue 👍

Thanks for chiming in mate. Appreciate the feedback and love your E30!

Great video. I’m about to do this.. Do I need washers for the 3 for the drain plugs? Thanks man.
If I remember correctly I got new washers. 2 Aluminum for the block and 1 cooper for the radiator
@@MinkMood Thanks. One more question, what do you mean by run the distilled water without the thermostat? You had to have it installed, right?

Love your shirt!
Me too!!! I designed it some few years back and got protecting me while wrenching ❤️🙏🔥
Can i flush my coolant system without removing thermostat?
Yes, just drain the coolant thru the plugs underneath the radiator and the block.
Great video! where did you buy the coolant?
Thank you mate, glad you like it. Coolant was purchased in a MB Dealership about 20 bucks

Hi Ryan, I’m glad you like them!
Regarding service manuals yes, I bought them on eBay and they are very useful.
Send me a mail I’ll try to help you

I noticed that you drain coolant from three locations. Do you need to do this or can you just drain from the radiator?
Did you see my coolant video? … Didn’t go to plan.
