Building the Engine ENDS BAD! [2JZ FRS Swap]
Rly nice, imho 60k isn't all that bad for what this is. If you have a shop it's an insane advert if you bring it to a lot of events, but even as a particular, this is heading straight for unobtanium status within about a decade, all you gotta do is hold on to it and keep it clean and it's value might very well shot up to the moon.
What is your crankshaft set to when doing this? The manual calls for 60* BTDC to remove timing belt and pulleys, and to remove the cam shafts (section cylinder head removal) it refers to EM-16 timing belt removal at *60 BTDC. If I then set my cam gears to TDC while my crankshaft is still at *60 BTDC that’s obviously a big issue so I’m very confused on this part. 2jz-GE VVTI
Hi, did you also plug the exit line from the right valve cover? Where the smoke gets there from?
Can you share the Link or the PN for the block ?
Hi, sure 11400-49088
how hard is the swap?
Is just worth it ❤️👍
nice video, my 81' has quit...
Hope you can bring it back mate
Good Day, what transmission u running, is the front end heavier?
I was running the automatic transmission from the Toyota Aristo. Controlled with the OEM ECU and with paddle shifters. Cheap setup but fun
45k for a full on race car is not bad
8k for a gr86?? inportugal its about 30k🥲🥲 and the gt is around 50k even more expensive than a factory built...
This was time ago and blown engine
@@MinkMood still sick build bro congrats! would you do it again? and maybe done anything differently?
@NIGHTDRIVE03 I crashed this one, so with GOD I’m praying I’ll build the next one
@@MinkMood Glad to hear! Looking forward to see it!
Did you keep the same differential??
Yes and hold strong for that power levels
7k for brakes . Could have not spent 2k on headlights. Bam saved you 9k in 3 seconds. All jokes aside. Not many people can say they have really built a car to this level. That alone deserves respect. Not many people know the other side of the build where you finished what you started and can now enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you never build another car in your life this experience imho was 100% worth it. You are a smart guy and money will never be an issue. If you would have just bought a 911 or turn key car you would get bored of it and be in a continuous loop of buying the next thing. Instead you have something that will ALWAYS be a point of conversation and engagement anywhere you go that is car related. And that is priceless.
Hi there, if my speedo is reading slower, could that same kit possibly do the fix?
Not sure tbh, the things we changed were the odometer gears.
MARTIN BROOOHHHH FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS PAPA!! Espero todo vaya de maravilla, nos vemos en abril que estamos por allá con la flia. Abrazo enorme!!
Te quiero Pabs!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
If your gonna wreck it, total it! Bummer man. Cars come and go. On to the next.
Vacuum cleaner salesman??....
Looks great! Hoping to do this on my Mazda 6 wagon soon.
Thank you man, you've done a ton of work, you've got an interesting experience and you just answered all my questions!!😊
Noooo que triste hermano, estaba viendo tus videos y me doy cuenta que sos argentino, justo estaba pensando hacer el swap de mi 86😊
Did you experience any issues with low fuel?
Worked great. 40 psi fuel pressure
I bought my 1985 380 SL 5 years ago w/ 72,000 miles, and the high idle issue. The replacement electronic box under the dash was the most expensive part I have had to replace at $325. I have changed the accumulator, belts, plugs, wires, distributor cap/ rotor, tires, injector seals, drivers window switch, battery, antenna, driving light bulbs and added a universal stainless steel exhaust with new cat and 02 sensor ( no muffler or resonator required). Cheap enough to maintain, fun to drive, and it sure turns heads with the black pearl over black interior.
Great video!
That’s cheaper than busing an MK4 and an MK5
What transmission
Was the a340 auto from the aristo
And held great 15.6psi for more than 7 months 😂
It’s an off road vehicle of course it’s going to have soft suspension. And yea it’s not the best on fuel but then again it’s a heavy vehicle but much more reliable than any dodge you can buy
Did you have to make any modifications to the engine bay (cutting or welding) to fit the engine and transmission?
No mods needed. In our case we had to open a bit the transmission tunnel bc the size of the automatic. And then minor cuts to route the intercooler and piping
bro said 🤑🤑 hyyy one day Ill build something like that, thank you for sharing 🙏🏽
Thanks for showing the bolts inside the bell housing access cover. From working on other cars I knew those must exist but even the factory repair manual seems really vague about them.
Thank you brother ❤️
Awesome video!
This isn’t a swap cost video…this is a build list for that EXACT setup plenty of way to save here 😮 kinda of clickbait
What’s the difference between a VVTI and a Non-VVTI?
One has variable valve timing one doesn’t
@@Hxhsjwjdocys yeah but what is that
@perplexed6359 one has variable timing in the intake side and the other has not. This variable timing allow the engine to have more torque in low mid range and keep the same top end performance. Similar to the Honda VTEC technology
What’s the difference between a VVTI and a Non-VVTI?
Torque
variable valve timing. sadly no valve lift. so as Krishall said the main difference is torque
Does the paddle shifter still work
yes
Whats your whp?
Never dynoed, my guess is around 400
Im trying this method as the servive manual says, however when i try to oreintate the cams for the the 4 o clock and 8 o clock position, the valves feel like they're interfering with the pistons?
Hi it’s 3 and 11 o’clock from manual. Also consider moving 10-15 degrees from TDC ( moving the crankshaft ) Hope this helps
Anything that brings you joy if you have the expendable funds and most importantly isn't hurting anyone is worth it!!! ✌🏽❤️✊🏽😁
You’re a joke how do you crash you were automatic transmission too even more embarrassing lmaoooo
Too bad the car has no style reps and all smh
glad you're back on your feet and moving forward man, much love .
Thank you brother ❤️
Just when I thought we were going to see how to change the blades ... ZOOM!
It’s a great video for anyone that’s is new to the four runner family… All the comments will help a new owner make a wise decision base on what they like.
oh no, l just came across your channel. Your build and story was inspiring
Thank you brother ❤️ praying to build it back
HEY! would love to know the name or brand of the orange tool you used on the sump pan :D
Hi man, it's a plastic hand scraper. I think we bought it from Home Depot. Worked great and avoided scratching anything
Ofcourse you wear gloves while getting gas 😂. This all makes sense now.
I'll take it off your hands bro. It deserves a home where it will be appreciated.
Do u know why do my camshafts not fitting properly, they look bend it
Thank you for this excellent video. I was in a similar situation when considering which direction to go and I went with a 2007 C6 Z06 and am glad I did. The LS7 is a beast and it comes from the factory with all of the goodies I would have had to upgrade to. Everyone's choice is their own, and in the end it's what makes you happy. Thanks for sharing your journey with us and by the way, that is a beautiful BRZ, well done. 👍
Great work, you did it easily. Ours has the top ones gone as well. No gap between the mount and the engine bracket.
Hi, I removed both of the small screws that secure the top of the plastic cage. But when I tried to lift it up, it seems to be caught on the small black resistor with the 3 wires on the circuit board behind it. So I stopped. Is there a trick to picking it up without pulling that resistor up with it. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
Ignore my last question. I managed to remove the cover by wiggling it while using a pair of tweezers to hold the resistor.
