@@anty. I could be one of those cases where he lived in New York for so long that he gradually shifted to the accent. Or maybe the accent gets stronger when he's shouting. Either way, I do think it's his real accent, I don't think he'd find it worth it to keep up an accent bit for that long

@@zurich_ nothing happened lol. since these types of videos, schlatt changed his content and plays a character on this channel (an angry businessman) because it gets more views lol. so nothing happened to him he just plays a character now instead of the real him. he has a channel called Theweeklyslap if you wanna hear him talk like this again, he posts on there quite a bit

People are saying that Schlatt sounds "normal" here, but I think he is kinda repressing his normal accent in place of a presentation voice. When he yells in the video it sounds like the classic New York accent so, coming from a New Yorker, I get a feeling that this is a "faker" voice due to his inexperience and lack of comfort with recording at this time. I remeber the older days of youtube, when schlatt still used this channel. Till this day I love this style of video schlatt made (and obviously same goes with new style), he's so calm and 'relaxed' compared to todays schlatt... hes come along way since and still worthy of the title 'Big guy'

@@devvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv Schlatt’s voice in general has changed since the old days, just like Swagger’s did. They were still teenagers back then I think anyway, so voices can change a lot in a few years.
UA-camrs do have “UA-cam voices” that they use for their job though, like radio and podcast personalities do. Eventually you can sort of adopt the tone and delivery irl and it just becomes the way you talk. Swagger talked about it in a podcast before.
@@TeenageMutantZuckerTurtle content creators have a entertainment voice usually, but this video was more so an educational one, so even if he made this video today it would probably be in the same tone

@@devvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv I don’t think he would sound the exact same, as even though in the time stamp the other comment or provided when he yells and sounds the same as current Schlatt (which maybe means that current Schlatt’s “entertainment voice” is just him talking with his voice raised?), this video is pretty old. Yelling Schlatt 3 years ago might sound like current entertainment Schlatt, but entertainment Schlatt 3 years ago didn’t sound like yelling Schlatt did.
In a broader context outside this video, his other videos from this time, even the non-education entertainment ones, he sounds different now overall than he did then. His entertainment voice didn’t develop overnight; there are similarities in his old videos, but in general he didn’t have his modern signature style of speaking completely developed yet. Even going back as recent as the earlier SMP Live videos he still sounded a bit different sometimes.
If you want to compare this serious educational voice to another serious “non-entertainment” voice, go compare it to some of his recent more-serious stuff on TheWeeklySlap like the Carson video. Even when he’s not doing the entertaining voice, his voice has definitely gotten a little deeper.
Getting more experience as an entertainer, along with his voice overall deepening slightly (the dude is only in his early 20s), gave his voice, both his entertainment one and serious one, a gradual change over the past couple years, one so gradual that we didn’t even notice it, and only really shows when you go back and watch something from 3 or 4 years ago. If you want something really wild, go to Critikal’s channel and sort by oldest to newest if and watch something from every year. There’s you a REAL change in age and tone.
