AWESOME rack! Can't wait to fit one.
Hopefully this will help someone, but I struggled to get the shock top mount on while holding the rack back as shown in the video. The rear wheel dropped slightly and while I tried to compress it with my weight on the back of the frame, I really needed an extra hand.
However it is very straightforward to move the rear light cluster out of the way. Yes it takes longer, but then the rack slides in easily from the rear with the shock still mounted.
Great rack and a very helpful video. Looking forward to seeing (and buying) more good stuff from you guys for the Interceptor 650.
Just installed my rack, love it. Now on to the Tec levers. 👍
Fitted rack to-day , very pleased with it. Also fitted back the grab rail with a bit of bending.
good looking addition.
I just need to buy an Interceptor now.
Excellent product as always , the pillion grabrail will be a great aid when manoeuvring the bike too .
Funnily enough I was going to suggest an option without the grabrail, or a removable rail, so that long items (such as tents) could be carried fore and aft using rack and rear seat.
You're producing some very nice parts for my Chrome tank Interceptor ( when I get it that is ). Looking forward to some more bits and bobs coming out soon.
You need to change your ID to - RE for ME- it rhymes as well !
I got my chrome interceptor last week after a seven week wait. Trust me its worth it!
It’s a good strong rack with a better 6 point mounting than most I’ve seen, but it’s not triangulated, it’s cantilevered
Pythagoras has one on his bike. Cantilevers are only supported one end though, this is supported in 3 places on each side, maybe it is semi-cantilevered. 😀
@@blackskunk54mine just snapped both sides.
Definitely solid 👍🏻
Looks a good one
Looks like a perfect rack for my commute :-)
Great work! 👍 Looks as if thanks to the straight rails there is also an opportunity to fit small to medium size generic panniers. Very welcome! Btw.: What is the load capacity of the rear rack? Most racks I saw so far were limited to 3kg. Would be nice if this one could take a bit more than that. Your lifting the bike demo makes me optimistic😄
I hope to see this in chrome. This type of rack with a grab handle is the only reason I have not purchased a 650 yet. My better half is a nervous passenger and prefers a higher grab.
Chrome is a available as option on the TEC website
you should add a couple of loops on either side to mount some panniers.
Just what I’ve been waiting for, but couldn’t locate them on the online shop. When will I be able to order them?
My TEC rack just snapped both sides on my Interceptor, 2 days before I'm going on a bike trip. It had an aluminium top box attached to it via an adapter plate i had bolted on it. A mate of mine is hopefully going to weld it up and add some reinforcement to it. I did use it to do Lands End to John o Groats last year, so i had used the rack for about 2700 miles before it broke. If you want pictures to show where it snapped i can send them to you via email or somehow as it might help show where rack could be strengthened in the future?
Great stuff. Hoping to pick up one of these bike soon. Any plans to include a passenger back rest with the carrier?
You do a fantastic job on what you have made for the 650,s " Just on another note do you also recommend I put my tong out when fitting does it help "
Hi Mate,
Can you make a.video on fitting the factory fly screen to your after market headlight mount and how to best fit it up.
thanks
Any updates on the Speed Twin? Like to see a 'Booster Plug in' install video. 👍
Looks great, but I don't understand why you have to pull the shocks out in the first place then put back in though, can the rack just be slided in?
I thought that too.
In the video you mentioned recommended torque settings that would be shown on the screen at the end, but unless I blinked and missed them, they weren't there. It would be useful if you could tell us what they are. Thanks in advance.
Tony Gabis 18 N-m or 1.8 Kgf-m
Looks decent
We want to hear the scrambler version!
I hope you will consider doing some stuff for the Kawasaki W800. Kind regards.
It would be helpful if you have shown the other side of installation for newbie like me
How wide is the new grab rail on this rack? I was wondering if the RE handlebar stay protector might fit as a slightly padded back rest?
Would it make difference if the triangulation support goes on the sock stud first before the shock? If your removing the shock anyway, would that provide stiffer support?
Just added my luggage rack but cannot see why you need the new top allen screws on the shocks. The old ones fit just fine and with thread locker should be OK....Can you clarify why we need new bolts, also I got 4 washers, do you need 2 each side or where should they be fitted. Quality of the rack is exceptional by the way
Can you put side panniers on this or will the exhaust get in the way ?
Do u do a lower. Seat for triumph thruxton 900 2008
Hi are you thinking of developing a pair of pannier supports?
Looks really nice. Would a universal Givi plate fit on something like this ?
Hi
most luggage makers universal rack adaptor plates will fit
Looks great. When will it be in the shop? I haven't managed to find it yet.
due to be ready next week in Uk, we already have these in USA store
Nice job. What are the chances of you producing some better quality brake and gear pedals (chrome or stainless perhaps) for the interceptor / conti?
Yes on my list of parts to make
@@TECBikeParts great stuff. I'll watch and wait, not too long I hope [thumbsup]
please post the NM required for the bolts. Got mine today and fitting it soon. Looking forward to not having a seat bag
Did you ever get the torque specs?
is there one available without the grab rail, just a flat rack so a top box will fit better. ??
I was thinking the same, the extra strength would make it ideal to carry a top box.
Givi do one for a top box
Hack saw LOL
is it available in india ?
I received my rack today very fast delivery i dont get my bike untill tomorow
Looks like an excellent piece of kit, but why is the rack mounted outboard of the shocks rather than inboard, which would, I think, look even neater? Is the lift handle retained on the left side, or is that part of the original grab handle?
thinking the same inside of the shocks and why remove the shocks when they go on the outside ??
The straight rails probably make it easier to fit generic panniers, something I appreciate.
You wouldn't want to change the angle of the shocks one iota.
Just not a good thing to do.
@@burtvhulberthyhbn7583 fair point, but if a suitable washer was added to the bottom mount to compensate, would that solve the issue?
@@martyndeyoung8207 yes alignment would be maintained but strain on the bolts would increase although I'm really straining credulity more than the bolts.
Nice, but what is the load capacity for this rack?
A lot more than the genuine RE rack I know that, it's thicker and had more mounting spots.
Available in Chrome or Black powder coat.
Will your RE 650 parts be available in Canada any time soon? More and more owners interested in your parts!
@@BaronSupremacy Hi
Please contact our USA store for Canada, wwwtecbikepartsusa.com
Hello there, I can't seem to find this part on the UK website. Follow up question, do you ship to within the EU from UK ? I'll try to order before Oct 31 ehehe.
@@fmlapa hi
been delayed slightly, due to be ready first week in August
How did you get that “Best Dad” sign? Is that an official award? I don’t think my kids submitted my name.
Damn He lifted the bike at 04:00
You do realise that the whole of India is waiting to see your version of the Scrambler/fast tracker right? Just thought I should park that thought in your head.
Are you meant to remove the grab rail and the other shock absorber then ? 😀
i am left wondering if both shocks need removing? And the torque setting which was mentioned?
Why did you need to take off the shocks? ,when in the video the rack went on the outside of the shock absorber.
Maybe i watched the video wrong
The huge stock indicators get in the way of feeding it in. You could take those off instead but shocks easier.
@@TECBikeParts ,yes ok ,i see now ,sorry for any inconvenience caused by my comment ,ride safe .
P.s .....new interceptor sitting in my garage !!!
A little disappointed with this rack. The fit is not that good. I had to do apply some strength since the holes didn't match. And the screws included are awful and way too long, so I had to use the old ones, even they being short for the new task. The painting could match the glossy chassis too. Well, it is what it is, the product appear good but...let's hope for durability.
