This is exactly how he acts in the show idk whatcha mean. He's a disgruntled cat, he explicitly is always trying to prove how he isn't "kind" or "nice." We know deep down he is and his actions speak otherwise, but most of his fronted persona is grumpy/bastardly. He's constantly giving people dumbfounded or nasty looks and scoffing and making noises like "Errkk" "Nguehh" He's a lovable twat
