Note that Aziraphale did the apology dance in 1650, 1793, and 1941. Does anyone know what events happened in those years between them, and how that could have resulted in an apology dance?
6000 years+ of romantic tension leading up to a break-up of a couple who were never together. What a way to wrap up season 2 and break every fans heart in the process. One can only hope for a season 3 with a reunion and love confession.

I sense Season 3 it will be aziraphale who kisses Crowley, this show likes doing parallels so I can’t wait even though we’re gonna have to wait a while 😢
I'm fairly certain with the "nonexistent" ending that totally didn't happen after the conversation with the girls, given Heaven is preparing for the 2nd coming, Aziraphale will eventually need Crowley's help to undermine the not-quite-good things Heaven is preparing for, or when he realizes he's being manipulated. Hopefully that eventually leads to them finally running away together lol
Anybody else find it funny how Crowley can go around telling people Aziraphales an angel while the actual angels are trying so hard not to give it away 😭
and more funny is that when he answers that "it´s just and angel I know", for someone who doesn´t know Aziraphale is an angel sounds as if Crowley is expression already his afection, like a compliment
I feel like he knows that no one is gonna assume that Aziraphale is actually an angel, whereas the other angels have no idea about humans and what they would or wouldn't believe. Also when Crowley says 'he's just an Angel... I know' I feel like he is using angel in the metaphorical way, like saying that Aziraphale is way too perfect to be a 'bit on the side'. But the 'I know' is acknowledging that it has a double meaning because he is actually an angel, and also acknowledging that he knows that Nina is gonna take it as a romantic compliment because she already thinks they're dating.
Like when they we're driving anathema back home and Crowley called him angel and there was natation "she was safe after all" cementing the impression everyone is getting of just them being a couple
What I find weird is that all of the people never seem to know what’s going on or what to make of it, and not even questioning why. Or they pretend the whole thing never happened which is stupid
I love how the season ended with them having a lovely kiss and Crowley officially moving into the flat above the bookshop because it’s truly THEIR bookshop now 😁
..i just realized that the bentley is the same shade of yellow that Aziraphale uses literally everywhere (for the columns and the walls in the bookshop, for example), which is obviously the same color as Crowley's eyes. Crowley also hides his eyes constantly and makes a point of only taking his glasses off when he opens up to Aziraphale and wants to be honest and vulnerable. This is emphasized especially in the last interaction the two have in s2, where Crowley puts his glasses back on when he feels he's being rejected. Aziraphale uses Crowley's eye color, which has a lot of metaphorical implications, because he thinks that "it's pretty". Jesus fuck man.
I love the scene at the french restaurant where Aziraphale says "You're being silly😊" and how he looks at "smitten", because he is SO SMITTEN WITH HIM😍
For our own sanity, really. Speaking for myself, at least, because even if S3 was greenlit THIS MINUTE, we'd likely still have 2+ years to wait for it, and I know I can't cope with the pain for so long. So. Until S3 is nigh (or at least nigh-er), I choose to believe that last 10 min is a hoax. A heartbreaking fever dream that ain't be real until resolution is on the horizon, because I can't with being OFMD'd by MY BOIZZ! 😭😭
Although I agree about the shattering heartbreak of the ending, Sheen and Tenant's acting was atonishingly superb! It's HOW we were all so devastated by the script.
I used to think Crowley had fallen for Aziraphale first. But now that we’ve seen how they first met, when they were both angels. I understand Aziraphale fell for Crowley first, but Crowley fell harder.
That makes sense, given their personalities. In terms of falling in love, it’s Aziraphale who “sauntered vaguely downwards” over the millenia because for him, Crowley “goes too fast for him”😢❤ Crowley is more passionate, more in tune with his feelings, less afraid(?), I guess of “falling”? But, yeah. Azira seems to have started falling first but Crowley got their much faster❤😢 (Ok bye, need to sob alone in my room now…)
I think that Azi fell long time ago and is aware of his feelings but doesn't think its right, Crowley fell completely head over heels but can't seem to understand it
Ok headcannon, people didn’t use angel as a term of endearment. Crowley always used it for aziraphale and then people assumed that it was a term of endearment, thought that it was cute and started using it. And now Crowley is totally just being too stubborn to back down because he came up with it first, and totally not because he really likes calling aziraphale by a pet name.
Nina: You two are obviously in love, that's what it clearly looks like. Crowley after: *Immediately subtly asks Azi on a date, with a rose and everything* 7:04
that‘s literally what i thought. even the set designers did a great job at making sure crowley‘s character arc is impossible to miss… which just hammers home how incredibly silly Aziraphale‘s pretence of obliviousness really is.
And the season ended with then admitting their feelings for each other, and then laughing about how blind they have been over breakfast at the ritz. Tough luck Gabriel, you’re stuck in heaven because you don’t deserve to run off, and they live happily ever after. In season three we see their relationship progress and they are all happy and they don’t have to do the no we totally aren’t dating, and all is well.
And Aziraphale and Crowley occasionaly dine at the Ritz, with Crowley watching and enjoying Aziraphale enjoying his food, and afterwards they go watch a movie and maybe hold hands. The End.
season 1 was good, but season 2 literally blew it out of the water. straight up had me sobbing in the end. they had no right to pull up like that !!! 😭 you see? this is what happens when the writers listen to the fans & give them what they want while staying true to the story/characters. they’re just brilliant.
Totally agree! I just don't get it when some people say they didn't like S2. I guess they were just looking for something different than I was. I got more than I ever dreamed of (even with the heartbreak).
I love the ending of the season because Crowley finally accepts his feelings for Aziraphale. It was verily the most beautiful and saddest ending I have ever seen. Now it's on Aziraphale to realize his feelings an do the apology dance. ❤
Aziraphale definitely already accepted his feelings (probably in 1941 when Crowley saves his books) he’s just trying to help the greater good and he thinks he can do that with/in heaven.
The fact that two lesbians can understand they’re lesbians before these two say they’re together is truly a testament to Crowley & Aziraphale’s refusal to communicate. Like do you know how HARD it is for lesbians to even REALIZE a woman is flirting with them?? But they can clock these two a mile away
Personally I think the hurtful part for Crowley wasn't Azyraphael "I forgive you" comment to the kiss. But despite all the horrid things Heaven did, and all the good Crowley did. Azyraphael still thinks that being a demon is bad, meaning he doesn't think that Crowley is good enough.
i think the „i forgive you“ wasn‘t meant as the „i forgive you for forcing a kiss on me against my will, you‘re still a demon and i forgive you for not being good enough“ that crowley clearly took it as. it seems, to me, like aziraphale actually meant to say „i genuinely believe that i‘m making this choice for the sake of the safety of the world and i forgive you for your selfish desire to stop me“… but he didn‘t actually say that, so he more or less accidentally shattered Crowley‘s heart. Because Aziraphale, to Crowley, sounded exactly like the patronising stereotype of an angel he spent the last millennia hating. it was, quite literally, the worst possible thing he could have responded, but still a very reasonable thing.
I think it’s more that Aziraphale still thinks a lot in black and white. He sees Crowley and his capacity for good and tries to “pull” him to the “good side” because he does think Crowley is good enough, but unfortunately belongs to the wrong “team”. He still doesnt understand fully that it’s the individual’s choices that define them, not the “team” they are in. That, plus whatever Metatron put in that coffee and his manipulation.
I think "the music and the long glare", the voicecrack in "He's just an angel.. I know", plus the confused/appalled face Crowley makes after Nina asked him about his relationship with Aziraphale is because he's confused and ashamed. He was so (understandably) upset when Aziraphale downplayed their relationship, like calling it "fraternizing" or claiming they weren't even friends. Now here HE is, crumbling immediately under a probing question and calling Aziraphale "just [someone] he know[s]" (wtf, Crowley). I think he's shaken that those words left his mouth and he needs to process his instinctive denial, that he would have been so hurt by coming from Aziraphale. He needs to process that and think seriously about their relationship... hence the alcohol.
"I did the 'I Was Wrong Dance' in 1650, in 1793, 1941-" & you're gonna do it again in 2023 (or whatever years season 3 comes out in if that's the year it takes place)
@@CanadianGoose92 yep. Because Neil Gaiman is part of WGA which is currently on strike (he would have the script finished by now if it weren't for the strike) also Micheal Sheen and David Tennant are SAG actors which are also currently on strike. Plus, Amazon still has to confirm the renewal for a third season (that's why the first 28 days are so important for the statistics). But Gaiman said that IF anything were to happen that the tv show would not be able to continue, that he would write a novel to finish the story.
When Crowley was drunkenly seething at Gabriel in episode 5, the part where he told him to jump out the window eerily reminded me of David's time as Kilgrave on Jessica Jones. That was menacing af.
@@tacticalgoldfinch8953 He really was. I got introduced to David Tennant through Doctor Who, and while Ten certainly had his darker moments, I was floored in Jessica Jones by how terrifying Tennant could be. He made my skin crawl.
I don't really think any of them did "the wrong thing". Crowley is right when we says that heaven is not "good", but Azi is not totally wrong because he really wants to change things. Look at their music: "you're right you're right i was wrong you're right" THEY DON'T TALK TO EACH OTHER. On this essay i will
YES! I love the writing in this show. I love the storytelling in all of this. From their own perspective, they're both right. They both assume they're doing the best for the other. Which is the problem. They're assuming. I am sooo looking forwards to all the pain and anguish in s3. Because they need it. To actually go somewhere, they're gonna have to fight for it. Aziraphale, has to fight for it.
the character writing and acting is just perfect. Aziraphale has VERY good reasons for the decision he made and has clearly suffered being excluded from heaven for so long. He really wants to change things because he knows what heaven might get up to without a voice of reason, and he loves humanity. He absolutely feels guilty about breaking Crowley‘s heart, but he feels more guilty over possibly abandoning what he considers his new duty. Meanwhile Crowley as a long list of reasons why he thinks that heaven is terrible and just got reminded of it when he went there. Crowley loves humanity but he loves Aziraphale more and doesn‘t want to give up the person he made himself over the past millennia. He also has a point, but it makes sense that Aziraphale would consider Crowley‘s priorities selfish. I loved the dialogue in the entire scene. Even the „everything good must end“ line - it‘s so clear that they aren‘t talking about the same thing at all, because neither actually says what they want to. These two really ARE bad at talking to each other… but it was such a good scene still.
absolutely nothing is funnier to me than the frozen stare after "you never say what you're really thinking" and then the "it's what you need as well" and the cut back to him with the *exact same frozen stare* he did not move an inch in fact I think he stopped breathing altogether. short-circuited entirely. I love him
I think one of my favorite underrated things is when Crowley says to Muriel, "Don't hesitate to ask me if you have any other questions about love, Inspector Constable. I'll just be here helping to run this bookshop while my friend drives my car to Edinburgh." There's a sweetness and naïveté in the way he says that --- boasting about how much he knows about love while in the same breath expressing his love for Aziraphale without even thinking about it. There's no one else whose home he would protect so fiercely or trust to drive his Bentley.

this has made me realize something. in the scene where crow says that his exactly and azira's exactly were different and then walks out in dissagreement over the plan, its like the final episode because they are both happy because they are not communicating properly. azira's exactly in that situation meant giving crowley a redemption and pursuing the love of their life in heaven whereas crowley's exactly meant running away and not caring about the heaven and hell sides like beelzebub and gabriel. Nina and Maggie even point it out right before the scene that they just needed to say what they mean. also in that scene azira's line "No good things lasts forever" to them meant that the bookshop and their lives on earth dont last forever however to crowley it meant that they wouldn't last forever. But to see the light at the end of the tunnel, in the end of the "exactly" scene, crowley comes back, admits hes wrong, does a little dance, and all is well. if this is supposed to parallel the ending then i have some hope for season 3
First I'd like to say I love the collective delusion towards the season ending second-hand like to say how much I love the whole conversation that happens when Aziraphale is driving to Edinburgh.
I love the fact that the Bentley listened " Im gonna give away some of them [the books] and decided "not on my watch" just seconds after it seemed fine going at the speed limit hshshsh
I think Crowley’s long pause, look/glare w the weird music (following Nina’s attempt to pinpoint his & Aziraphale’s relationship) was merely Crowley suddenly feeling mystified himself at where the two of them stood. For thousands, nay millions of years the two celestial beings knew one another and for the past 6000 yrs in particular, they were both down on earth, bumping into each other at more and more regular instances, getting to know each other more intimately each time, spending serious amounts of time together and becoming so attached that they cared about what happened to one another & Crowley, in particular, had to come to Aziraphale’s aid time and time again to save his life. Indeed many have speculated that Aziraphale placed himself in danger just so that Crowley would appear to do so. (Obviously not the time during WWII but other times, when he figured that Crowley would of course come and save him bc “nothing gave Crowley more pleasure than saving him.”) However the one thing the Angel and Demon have not done is have serious discussions involving their relationship. During s1, the closest prior to the actual season itself was Aziraphale claiming Crowley “moved too fast” which I thought was stretching things beyond the realm of belief. Even tho time to immortal beings has a whole different meaning, I feel that if Aziraphale truly thinks Crowley is “rushing things “ by 1967, Aziraphale has a lot of growing up to do (just my personal opinion). In any case, their working together on stopping the apocalypse should have put all those worries away. Crowley asked him twice, 2 separate times, to run away with him, and even tho they ultimately didn’t do that, they DID apparently start up a more real, more personal relationship. One that went beyond “friendship” mentioned often in earlier yrs, and even during the worst points in time during the apocalypse. This is based on a number of factors, one being that they had discussed their future together specifically as one TOGETHER. (Mentioned when Crowley wishes to get Gabriel the hell out of town and talks about the fragile existence he has built up for himself. (Aziraphale chimes in I thought we were building that up for both of us.) The fact that Az feels comfortable enough to claim the Bentley as “theirs” not just Crowleys, similar to the bookshop being Aziraphale’s in fact, but belonging to both of them. So while they don’t seem to have started up a sexual relationship, they have in fact started up a personal one. One that would cause the other to stare suspiciously at the other at the mention of a random naked man who was over at the bookshop. Or for Crowley to come over to where Aziraphale is unhappily chatting w the dinner society man and Crowley says hello in a manner that would send ME running for my life, if I had any sense of self preservation. And for Crowley to have a long awaited discussion with Gabriel as to just how he felt about the way Gabriel treated (whom he believed to be) Aziraphale the day he came up for his punishment. So after Nina brings up their relationship in a casual human conversation of “just what do you two mean to one another” Crowley is suddenly at something of a loss to put into words the relationship he shares w Aziraphale bc, tbh, in many ways, it is so v much deeper and stronger than any marriage or relationship comparison that could be made to those of people on earth … but they haven’t actually stated what Crowley says near the very end of the series, even tho both of them have skirted around that issue for like hundreds of years. And the saddest thing, which will stay that way until part three, is that Crowley’s speech SHOULD HAVE won the day. I can not think of a situation wherein what he says doesn’t overcome any desire Aziraphale has to remake Heaven or to be a part of the “new Heaven” and even if he was threatened or Crowley was threatened, he does nothing to attempt to tell Crowley about that prior to leaving. In a straight out or surreptitious manner. Perhaps the Metatron made it sound as if he would be listening to,their conversation, Aziraphale should have been able to come up with some adventure among the many and various ones they had shared that would indicate the type of danger they were in. Bc while Heaven (and hell) are aware of some of the things that the two have done together, there are like a ton of things that neither side know anything about and he should have been able to choose among those … or simply take something they DID know about but twist it in a manner that would tell Crowley something while sounding as if he was talking about something else. He did nothing of the kind. He’s said “I forgive you” way way way too many times for that to be a clue and other than saying he wants Crowley to come w him, he SHOULD have known that this was something Crowley would dislike more than being polite to Gabriel. That there was basically nothing, other than saving Aziraphale’s life (which he did during s2) that would lead him to go up to Heaven for any other reason. So either Aziraphale was under a spell, the Metatron put something in his coffee or Aziraphale is stupider than I ever ever thought bc Crowley’s speech should have kept him on earth. It would have kept ME on earth and I wasn’t involved in their lives … that’s how powerful it was. 😳😳😳😭😭😭
Thank you for taking the time to write that all out. It makes me understand their connection even more. I so want them to be together, it's a beautiful connection to witness!
Crowley is such a sweet one, even if he doesn't want to admit it. He is so respectful and not selfish. He keeps saying that the two of them could run away, basically elope together, and it's always Az who doesn't want to. There's nothing stopping Crowley, but Az still believes in the system, in the Good. For millennia he has lied to himself, pretending to like him no more than a mere friend, until the scene in which his books were saved. Until then he could just deny his feelings, even though he's a bad liar, but now? Both know very well that they love each other, but they also know that they are not allowed to be together as they are a demon and an angel. Same as with Gabriel and Beelzebub who had to escape too. That's why Crowley wants to run away, where no one will find them, he has no interest in becoming an angel, fighting for a system he doesnt believe in, he just wants to be with the one he loves; but Az wants to change the system, so that they can be together without having to flee.
Episode one is literally episode six but smaller. The disagreements the complications, everything. It wraps up so so well and I'm so in love with the story
I would have enjoyed manyfold this season were it not for those last 15 minutes that bruised my wee heart. I am devastated that we got an Angel/Demon combo AND a bleeding kiss but not in the order or setting I needed to see. I could have raved at the hilarity of the goats or Ty Tennant being the nepo-baby we need or how 1941 zombie ep was just one deliriously happy moment of realisation, I could have drooled over John Hamming all over episode 1, I could have discussed how adorable Muriel our delightful ray of non-binary sunshine, as an avid Jane Austen fan, I can write dozens of witty remarks on how impractical it is to hold a ball (hehe) nowadays. BUT NOT, Mr Gaiman decided to break our collective hearts and now we are stuck for YEARS of yearning, angst
This isn't one of those shows where I can find a suitable ending and go, "There! That's the ending to the season, can't wait for season 3!" But no. I'm forced to sob hysterically while also being overjoyed that they finally kissed.
Is it my imagination or in S2, does Aziraphale look Crowley up and down at several points in quite a sexy way (as opposed to just affectionate)? For example, I noticed in this video he seems to do it when he says "Very nice" after the "I'm sorry dance", when he says "Avaunt! Oh....it's you, dear me! and in the season's opening star creation scene?
7:11 the amazing part about this is that though 'smitten' is not incorrect, most people use 'smote' as the past tense of 'smite'. Aziraphale says 'smitten'... and we all know what 'smitten' also means 😶🌫
It's smite smote smitten. "You've been smote" would be grammatically incorrect since you need to use the past participle with "have been". It's like saying "the book has been wrote". Sorry for playing grammar police lol
@@xxyzxxyz690 wow I had no idea lol. I never knew the point with the three cases, I just went off instinct. I guess with words like this, instinct doesn't really work, because I was introduced to them later. But it's still kind of funny to see Aziraphale say "smitten" with that look on his face XD

After watching the show I gotta say it is so sad that the last Episode was 10 min shorter than planned and it ended with Crowley confessing to Azi. Happy end
I just noticed that when the two lesbians were giving the "you're in love" talk, Nina referred to The other one as "angel" as a cute nickname, which was what Crowley was calling aziraphale forever, I think it was the writers way of saying: yeah he ment it romantically the whole time and not sarcasm or whatever.

Thinking hard and trying to rationalize why Gabriel and Belzebob managed to give a shot to their relationship so quickly and Crowley and Aziraphale didn't even after 6000 years. My take is that they were both always in a position of power, having to make decisions every day for a lot of people so they are used to give way to any problems ahead. That's why they managed to make so much progress in their relationship so fast. On the other hand, Azi and Crowley always relied on others for directions and orders. They were constantly reprimanded for any autonomous or free decisions. That's just my two cents, what do you think?
I agree. They had more power and privilege, and therefore less fear and anxiety over what they could or should do--less risk and less to lose. They also both didn't really care about whether the earth ended, or protecting it, so that consideration didn't stand in their way.

I can't believe that 2 Shows about middle aged gay men habing a midlife-crisis while being mamadly in love with each other are doing this to me TAT
Technically it was the last 13 minutes but yes quite right
I used to think Crowley had fallen for Aziraphale first. But now that we’ve seen how they first met, when they were both angels. I understand Aziraphale fell for Crowley first, but Crowley fell harder.
That makes sense, given their personalities. In terms of falling in love, it’s Aziraphale who “sauntered vaguely downwards” over the millenia because for him, Crowley “goes too fast for him”😢❤
Crowley is more passionate, more in tune with his feelings, less afraid(?), I guess of “falling”?
But, yeah. Azira seems to have started falling first but Crowley got their much faster❤😢

Wow that was so smooth from Crowley
that‘s literally what i thought. even the set designers did a great job at making sure crowley‘s character arc is impossible to miss… which just hammers home how incredibly silly Aziraphale‘s pretence of obliviousness really is.
Crowley getting progressively more mad about his car changing was great.

The End.
i swear this whole fandom is so delusional now 😭😭😭
season 1 was good, but season 2 literally blew it out of the water. straight up had me sobbing in the end. they had no right to pull up like that !!! 😭 you see? this is what happens when the writers listen to the fans & give them what they want while staying true to the story/characters. they’re just brilliant.

@@mscatmoon Exactly.
Aziraphale driving scene is so funny that I couldn't stop laughing.
The car is yellow because Aziraphale loves yellow. The walls of the shop are yellow.
Crowley's eyes are yellow.
9:53 imagine after six THOUSAND years having to have two lesbians sit you down and tell you you're in love
David Tennant’s delivery when talking about Gabriel trying to kill Az is making me feel. Lightheaded
I DIDN'T WANT TO CRY TODAY, THANKS A LOT
i think the „i forgive you“ wasn‘t meant as the „i forgive you for forcing a kiss on me against my will, you‘re still a demon and i forgive you for not being good enough“ that crowley clearly took it as. it seems, to me, like aziraphale actually meant to say „i genuinely believe that i‘m making this choice for the sake of the safety of the world and i forgive you for your selfish desire to stop me“… but he didn‘t actually say that, so he more or less accidentally shattered Crowley‘s heart.
I love the "your being silly" line and accompanied expression so much, SO ADORABLE.
The soft look when Aziraphale says "smitten" is so cute
"he's far too pure to be any body's bit on the side" 😭😭💔💔

I don't really think any of them did "the wrong thing". Crowley is right when we says that heaven is not "good", but Azi is not totally wrong because he really wants to change things.
Look at their music: "you're right you're right i was wrong you're right"

There's a sweetness and naïveté in the way he says that --- boasting about how much he knows about love while in the same breath expressing his love for Aziraphale without even thinking about it.

“but it’s pretty 🥺” 😭😭😭

C: what car?
A: OUR car
I have to hold back my tears

I would have enjoyed manyfold this season were it not for those last 15 minutes that bruised my wee heart. I am devastated that we got an Angel/Demon combo AND a bleeding kiss but not in the order or setting I needed to see.

"And that is where the season ended" yep 😭😭
