About 15 years ago, I was sitting at home with some random concert channel on and these guys start playing. I had never heard of them, and was fascinated that they PACKED Madison Square Garden and EVERY one knew every word to every song. Then I fell down the Dispatch rabbit hole and have loved them ever since.
If you like their music look up State Radio, main singer and guitarist is Chadwick Stokes the lead singing of Dispatch. Same energy and vibe a little bit more gritty on some songs but, they stopped releasing music under the name but they have some great albums.
@@jamelinjones4489 I love that, I remember the first time I heard them, I was at a friend's college dorm years ago and he started playing The General and I fell in love with the song and the band. I still sing The General almost every morning to myself while I'm in the shower. Cheers again!
I love this song so much, it makes me sob every time I listen to it. As someone who came from a traumatic background and who lived life like it was a battlefield, the message of recognising one's fellow man as someone just as human as oneself, being able to stop fighting and meet people as fellow humans worthy of love and respect, and being forgiven for past mistakes and told to go and live a normal and happy life, is so meaningful to me, and really what I needed to hear.
Recently went to a couple of their concerts locally, both of them everyone was singing along, happy, drunk and never missed a beat. They bring people together no matter who you are. I have never seen an entire stadium let alone 2 back to back with such unity and it was truly impressive. This is why they are my favorite band, Chadwick will not be matched.
First shown to me by a travelling companion travelling through Australia - this is my Australia song. Or rather Dispatch is my Australia memory ;) Will love it forever.
I discovered this song freshman year high school b.o.t.b I thought it was an original and some friends in the band said no. Listen to dispatch. Soon found more and more similar bands. That led me to my career in audio as an engineer.
Hear the original audio of "The general" it has pretty sick drums... Also this concert version has amazing drums ua-cam.com/video/MXhqoZ1nEL8/v-deo.html
I honestly prefer this time of percussion on this song. Especially for this version of it. It's softer and and more subtle, along with the rest of this recording.
May I suggest if u like dispatch look into state radio - its chads band he had when dispatch was on a break. The real legend though is Sybil chads wife she runs calling all crows the non profit - another rabbit hole for all of u to go down
The General: "Take a shower and shine your shoes" Men: "Uhhh sir, we don't have showers" The General: "Ok, just shine your shoes then" Men: "We don't have that either..." The General: "Well just go jump in a river then"
It's not the most seamless way, but it is the best way to communicate while performing. They are doing that vocal harmony up-tempo, and my guess is that they had not been performing the song like that (either with the harmony, the up-tempo, or both) for terribly long. Just a thought.
This song is about General Lee. A Southern Confederate general. You said he had a "heart of gold" .... BZZZZZT Not allowed. You guys are canceled. RIP Dispatch. Not woke.

Thank you, fellow human worthy of love and respect 🙏🏼
This song was playing in a mall once. The lyrics just hit me so fucking hard I started crying in a store. Beautiful.
I found Dispatch almost 17 years ago and loved them all this time they are on play list all the time!
Killer version. Ugh and can we talk about that guitar?!
my man looks like hes in love the way hes looking at his drumer. Damn I LOVE DISPATCH such an underrated band

Still the coolest song I've ever heard
Even better live!!
Brad Corrigan is one of the most genuine good people I've ever met.
First time I heard this I was at the Mountain School in VT for my sisters graduation and they performed this...stuck with me forever...great song 💯
Best Dispatch song, then again there are so many!!! Equivilent to Zor and Zam from the Monkees in the '60's
Absolutely brilliant piece of work. One of those forever loves. Love it, love it love it.

Never would've expected a Lil Dicky and Tom Segura duet. Love Dispatch
😂😂
just discovering dispatch and was like "wts is that tom segura on the shakers?"
I've known this song most of my life and just made this connection. #Jeans (these guys are actually amazing, this whole album is a classic)
Listening this song for six hour straight. Will listen again and again. ❤️
Awesome
They’re good live
Thanks Shane
Very good song !!!
As a drummer, I'm bummed that there isn't a drummer... but as a musician, I love this
Hear the original audio of "The general" it has pretty sick drums...

They have a great drummer now- JR. Also Braddley is an amazing drummer. But we call JR animal like on the muppets cause he is an animal on the drums.
Fist song I ever learned on the guitar when I was at summer camp in 05
Queen
Cool blue white guitar thingy :D
what model is?
@@andrecazenave9918 Samsonite?
@@Enoch001 This comment made me lol
@@andrecazenave9918 It's custom made, the style referred to as a cigar box guitar
takes me back ;)
Great Song 🎵 💞
Resonates with the Russian Vs Ukraine war. Totally a war not worth fighting for.
Agreed!! I’ve always loved this song but had to share with people because it is so appropriate at this time.
Can’t believe this one only as 137k views
Awesome!

So, when did Tom Segura join Dispatch???
Am I wrong, that’s a doppelgänger 2:47
it has to be lol
Epic
Awesome! 👏
When they look at each other I can't tell If someone is going to get fired, or if they are just in that zone
hahahahaha well put. i think it’s more of a “these mushrooms are KICKING IN”
@@klucas7204 haha fair enough
That’s a lotta eye contact in the zone
Killer!!!
I feel like they're singing to Pete in the last chorus.
Also nice cover of this song by BAMBOO of Philippines
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Suitcase guitar!
I laughed out loud when I saw that, I love this shit.
that look is the look of a “these mushrooms are kicking in FAST” look if i’ve ever seen one
😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful song against mindless bloodshed
Great song, not bad for anybody considering joining the military every country.
The General: "Take a shower and shine your shoes"
Men: "Uhhh sir, we don't have showers"
The General: "Ok, just shine your shoes then"
Men: "We don't have that either..."
The General: "Well just go jump in a river then"
Is that guitar a diner seat cushion?
This song is even more meaningful right now. #longliveukraine
Can we talk about that guitar though 👀
Have guitar, will travel
Is he playing a cigar box?
I'm having trouble finding a Dispatch song that I don't like.
Two tank tops in winter
Is Pete unaffiliated with Dispatch, currently?
Hmm. Sus, doesn't sound the same
NGL THIS SONG IS PRETTY LIT THO
whats that guitar he’s using?
I would guess its custom but the suitcase gives it a great hollow body reverb
A travel guitar lmao
Its an Ibanez neck the rest is super custom
Perfect song.....but....Um.....has anyone seen Pete ???
They don't seem to be sync here. The vocal timing see just a bit off
It gives the song more feel
Who else is this based off the recent events happing ?
This is a song Tolstoy would have wrote
Bet they’re sick of playing that😂
Why are they just staring at each other?

Russian troops should see this...
Send this to russia
Quee
That opening riff is sweet, but he misses 90% of the notes...
damn this sucks
Why did they make that song bad? It used to be a good song. RIP Dispatch’s legacy... I miss State Radio.
how is the song ruined?
You do realize this is a Dispatch song?
The way they stare at each other while they sing tells you they fuck. Percussion dude pipes guitarist. No 🧢. 💯 dope song
Why does my butt stink so bad? I need a second opinion *holds out fingers*
