It is from the perspective of someone that, temporarily, survives a midair plane crash. The person next to him is dead. He can hear the EMT saying there's no way to save him. You hear the sirens as he dies. It was inspired by The guitarist , who was taking flight lessons at 17 and right after a lesson, the next student took off and immediately rolled and crashed.
I first heard this back in the day at 2AM with school the next day. I was having trouble sleeping to start with and had the radio going. This song did NOT help me get to sleep.
Dive into those first 4 albums by Bloodrock,bro-- you'll dig the band alot! Sort of a combo of Grand Funk RR ,Uriah Heep & Deep Purple. Early hard rock from Ft. Worth, Texas...great stuff! T
This coulda been the theme song to every Faces of Death video ever. When I was a kid my older brothers put this on when our bedroom was pitch dark to scare the living crap outta me, then as a teen I did the same thing to my little sister till my father found out and made me throw the record in the incinerator. I guess that was an appropriate way for it to die 😂
I saw Bloodrock on April 4, 1972 @ Toledo Sports Arena ( Michael Quatro Jam Band opened)...Great concert! Breach of Lease was awesome in a live setting, as well....
I'm SO Jealous! Only got to see them after Rutledge & Pickens left (Passage tour). They opened for Grand Funk RR. early '71 tour and I'm told they bested GF on the night! That seems impossible to me,but that's just how damn good Bloodrock apparently was! LOVE those first 4 albums..especially USA-- one of my alltime fav albums!! T
This song produced the FCC rule that police and ambulance sirens cannot be played on the radio. I, for one, found this song fascinating, but I was in high school when it came out.
Wasn't banned everywhere. They were playing it on a couple Arizona radio stations. But it was as it is creepy. We were just starting to recover from the song in the Year 2525 when this song was released. Lol
I first listened to this song at night while i was living in the panama canal 1971 on fm radio. Everytime i tell people about it and they listen to it it's like they literally freak out.i use to own the album bloodrock 2
I was nine years old growing up in Florida, and I remember this song playing on the radio a lot and I remember all the conspiracy theories going around at the time. I didn't understand at the time but now it's clear. Crazy song.
So, from a "bad" rehearsal back in 1970 Lee Pickens was making noise with his guitar, as he put it "English UK siren sounds" form that point they "fantasized" and put DOA together. Their first four albums are great and USA is my favorite. Actually, I think their best dark song is "Breach of Lease " with a great guitar solo from Lee Pickens on Bloodrock 3. Give it a listen. Cool review!

A kid brought this album in for our 6th grade class Christmas party in 1970 and played D.O.A., needless to say our old teacher wasn’t very happy.
Plane accident the band's guitarist witnessed when he was 17.

This song scared the hell out of me. I was only 6 at the time?
Excellent! Well done. Check out my favorite cannibalism song- " Timothy " by The Buoys.
I second that!

This has been a Halloween Playlist staple for a long time for me!!
More disturbing than scary but...😂
Takes me back, thank you 👍✌️

Well, a little but not much. At least compared with Sick Things by Alice Cooper or Megalomania by Black Sabbath. Or Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath.

Obviously Alice In Chains the Rooster was influenced by this !
This song was disturbing to me in the 70's.
