  • Our new friends at ID4Motion reached out to Jonny about their line of digital gauge displays for BMW models. As soon as he saw their products he new he had to have one for his personal BMW X5 daily driver.
    Jonny shows you the simple install and goes through many of the features.
    The display is amazing and he couldn't be happier.

    Such a neat product, but I personally think that this era of BMW gauge clusters are absolutely beautiful and don't think an LCD can do the same justice to the cars.

    • @houseofno
      @houseofno 2 роки тому +7

      It looks closer to an analog gauge cluster than even BMW's own OEM digital clusters, so that should be considered a plus for ID4MOTION's product.

      Agreed. Love my 07 Z4, it's an analog car to the core and better for me than all their current models. However, anyone with dead pixels should do this, have the original rebuilt and stored away.

      I was thinking the same, however i like the OEM style digi dash to mimick the appearance, while modernizing the car a bit.

      Im curious to which one did you enjoy more? Like which one had less maintenance and headaches for you. I personally used to own a 07 x3 m and I loved it.

      @@leonardnose5695 hi Leonard. My 2011 diesel was awesome. Torque monster, and it had the X5M suspension (steel springs). It was fast, and pulled like a freight train on the highway. It had NOX sensor issues often. One injector failed. Dealership wanted $2600.00 to replace one injector. I did it myself, cost under $500.00, NOT including the software to program the injector. Unfortunately I totaled it one morning on the way to work. I began a search for an E70 X5M. (I also own a 2000 e39 M5). Found one (2013) at a dealership, trade in. Garage queen. I love it. It is stupid fast. But, it will pass everything but a gas station. 13.5 MPG vs. 24 with the diesel. Still, I prefer the X5M. The maintenance doesn’t scare me as I do it myself. It has every option available at the time.
      Wish I had the room for both!

    This is really cool. Looks like a properly made instrument cluster. Not cheap, but I’d hate to think of what a oem piece costs

    • @Brian-jv8iy
      @Brian-jv8iy 2 роки тому

      OEM piece from the dealer for car that are a bit newer is lower depending on the dealer and their discounts, not to mention it’s much higher quality.
      Here you get a device that has a terrible quality screen, has less functions than a stock cluster, messes up the canbus and makes coding sometimes even code reading impossible. It’s a bad buy.

  • @high633
    @high633 2 роки тому +1

    Initially i wasn't sold on it. Mostly cause it was trying to imitate a stock/analog gauge cluster and clearly was just a lcd panel. But once you set it up with the other layouts and even more so changed the coloring. I really like it. Has a nice feel to it stops trying to look like what it isnt. Which is one of my big gripes about digital clusters is they try to look analog. Personally i prefer analog until you can customize it to your liking and it stops trying to look analog. Then its does it match the look of the car.
