Great info in this one! Big thing to mention is try to double move stuff like Mamo, Sneasel, Exca etc. etc. (The double type mons) and just swap between their fast moves. Lot easier to use fast tms than hoard millions and millions of dust to have 2 of each!
Yes, i always try to tell people this. S. Mamoswine should the the No. 1 shadow to max in my opinion. Its stats, flexibility, & accessibility make it very useful for newer players.
Instead or Rankings, I would do %. #1 is always 100% and the others should be displayed as how much % they deal, compared to the Rank 1. That way we could see if it would be worth it to power them up. Yes Shadow Sharpedo is Rank 5, but is it really worth? Not really.
While i do agree DPS is important, i think it doesnt show the full picture. You cant ignore TDO. There is deep reddit discussions on DPS and TDO and how there should be a different way to calculate it all. I believe in medium especially if you are raiding with limited players, ak Dou raiding. If you have bigger groups going just DPS should work. As long as everyone brings the right counters and not just bringing in whatever or follow by what Pokemon go recommend. I understand and respect there is different ways people play pokemon go. I am grateful for all these other resources like Pokebattler, pokemon go hub and many more.
I have a 15/14/13 Shadow Flygon and it tears things up with Scorching Sands. It's a bit squishier than Shadow Rhyperior, but it gets charged moves off much quicker and doubles as a decent dragon-type attacker. Definitely a nice one to have if you're not drowning in multiples of the top picks and doesn't share the same weaknesses as Shadow Rhyperior does.
I would personally wait to power up most shadows if there exists a shadow legendary that would beat it. It's a long term game, and even if you have a hundo shadow greninja or a 2 star shadow kyogre, eventually shadow kyogre gets a raid day and you might get a 3 star. We know shadow groudon, kyogre, rayquaza will be out in the next approx two years.
Would've been real nice to have the DPS or tdo on the graphic. Would let people know easier how much better number 1 is than 2 :) I know they can search, but just would be nice
One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that Shadow Mons can't mega evolve. So you might want to put your limited dust and candies into a normal Pokémon like Gengar for example so you can mega evolve it.
I think it is because you can’t mega shadow Pokémon a you need a meteorite 2 learn it Dragon Ascent so the best and only flying type charged attack is Aerial Ace
It's typing is just not the greatest, flying type it's nuke move is like super effect against no good raid bosses (only one is virizion) And for PVP he's kinda just not that good now after the breaking swipe nerf
Great video Dax! Shadow pokémon are so interesting. I mainly am interested in them for raids, although I need to invest in a few still. Shelling out 300K dust for level 40 is no joke. My best shadows currently are a 15/13/15 Entei and a 15/14/15 Machamp, been investing in those for a while.
Idk but sometimes i get the grunts SECOND pokemon, not the first, even when theses arent currently avaible (yesterday i got sh. gligar and snubbull the day before) Edit:bruh mb
If you'll be able to teach shadow rayquaza dragon ascent it will be the best shadow flying type. Also, shadow salamence is the best shadow flying type right now with fly as it's charge attack.

yes it will - not sure about your second point though haven't checked that
I know IVs don’t particularly matter since shadows are better than regulars, but what range does everyone tend to go for, like, 60%-84%? I know it’s hard to get good shadow IVs, that’s why I didn’t include hundos.
15 attack and 3* is what I aim for. Even though a 0% shadow Pokemon does more damage than its' 100% non-shadow counterpart, they are such a big investment in terms of stardust and candy that it's better to wait and max out the better IV shadows you do get rather than just going with whatever you end up catching. The only exception I make is when purifying the shadow gives it perfect IVs (such as 13/13/13), because then I can at least fall back on that in the future (especially if it has a mega form) so it's not a wasted investment. That'll be even more the case when dynamax is added (likely not going to work with shadows). I know good IV shadow Pokemon can be rare, especially with 15 attack, but you will end up getting some. Just make sure to go after every Rocket Grunt and Leader you can find; odds are you'll be lucky when you least expect it. All the best shadow Pokemon I have are from pulling over when I was driving and saw a grunt or decided to go out one last time before bed because there was one at a stop nearby. But really, it's all up to you. Even though I only power up shadows with 15 attack, I still keep those with less (especially 3*). I never know when I'll change my mind and having them in storage is better than not having them at all.
imo? Yes. Shadow Pokémon do 20% more damage than non-shadow. Any good shadow that has 13+ atk or is a 3 star+ should be considered for powering up. If you already have a bunch of shadow Mamoswine, then perhaps reconsider. But 15-8-15 is good
Shadow kartana for grass was missed. Idk if it would be number 1 but it definitely should be mentioned since kartana is the number 1 raid attacker (non megas)
It is important to note that some shadow pokemon are worse than other non-shadow pokemon in raids. It is ALSO important to note that most shadow pokemon are worse than regular pokemon (even of the same species) in PVP. Always check up to date lists before powering up!
I have a two star Shadow Chandelure and I dont think I will ever get a chance to catch a better one again. Should I just keep powering that one up? I have a few two star Shadows that I dont know if I will ever have a chance to catch again due to being out of the rotation. This sucks.
Shadow pokemon have become one of my favorite hunts. I have 89%-93% Darmanitan, Dragonite, Rampardos and Snorlax. I hit a 14/11/14 shadow Groudon on my 2nd radar (1st was 8/8/8).
Ty, I needed this. Always wasn't sure which moves were better and which shadow ivs I should keep. But what about the pokemon that were purified? Do we treat them like normal pokemon?
Yes, they are essentially normal pokemon, but they have a reduced stardust cost for powering them up. It's also important to note they always learn the move return in their charged attack slot. You are able to switch this move once it gets it though which is usually worth it

i got lucky a few weeks ago, just before i went to bed a random dragon popped up so i thought "why not?" and i got a hundo shadow dratini out of it haha :D
I don't think you said something quite important - shadows are basically useless unless there's a Team Rocket takeover event where you can replace the frustration charge move with a good one
I know that mons like Mewtwo and Metagross are tiers above the rest, but I’ll never run a full team of Mewtwos or anything. I love the variety on the team, so I’ll always do that and sacrifice damage

Im still at the start of the video so not sure if he covers, but if a pokemon has a mega, would that be better than the shadow? Like for t tar, if i had like a 13-13-13 shadow, would it be more worth to purify it so i can get a hundo mega? or keep shadow?
I'd just keep the 13-13-13 shadow, because then you can pair that with a larvitar (or it's evos) you trade for that would become a 15-15-15. Unless you have 12 13-13-13s or higher, wouldn't purify them as that would be an absolute unit of a team to have.
Thats a good question. In ur place, i would keep the shadow and get other tyr to mega, since we dont know when it'll be back again
4 місяці тому+1
Good point - but in my opinion better to get a second tyranitar to use as the mega - shadows with good ivs are rare not worth purifying just for a mega you can just catch from a raid
6:46 Wait, What? Shadow Rayquaza with Air Slash and freakin DRAGON ASCENT won't be number 1 as flying type attacker? Is this correct? Nevertheless, great video. Quite informative. DPS doesn’t factor how long the attacker stays in battle for and thus seriously favors glass canons. I see your idea but you might have to waste time relobbying. Idk just something to consider looking into, I guess I have to do more research myself
Question. if a 0% shadow can do better then hundo non shadow version. then whats the point of the attack IV stat? what purpose does it even serve. If its not boosting the attack of the pokemon whats the point of even hunting for shundo then?
Those aren't from normal rocket battles. Once per season / rocket changeup, they change the current shadow legendary (right now it's like kyogre or groudon I think) and you get a quest to beat each rocket leader and get a super rocket radar and use that to fight and beat giovani and you get the shadow legend. But that's a once per season / changeup thing. Shadow legendaries are in shadow raids on weekends only and in person only. You want a lot of people to take them down and want to use purified gems (8 total to subdue, each person can only use a few per raid) to subdue the boss otherwise it's near impossible to beat. Sometimes they have specific events for shadow legends like they've had two for shadow mewtwo. I bet they will soon have some for other shadow legends from the first 3 gens.
This year adventure events contents is really bad all pokemon in this event just like recycle and no new species Pokemon at all. Part 2 adventure event will be Team Rocket takes over new shadow Pokemon introduce including Shadow Rayquaza. ( My guess). I suggest all Pokemon Go players can close Pokemon Go game app. and watch Paris Summer Olympics games live.
I dont have resources for it, so I would just wait for future to get better shadow groudon, kyogre or mewtwo to power them up, even if they are stronger than others even with their trash IV
That's what I do personally. You would run out of resources WAY too quickly if you tried to power up ever shadow you got from raids, so yes it would be best to raid for a good one before powering up, and in that by the time you GET a good one, you'll have what you need to max it out anyways so kind of a win win
2 rays, because he is good in both dragon and flying. Don't know how the meteorite will work, perhaps we will get dragon ascent+ like we got for Lugia and Ho-oh, but for now I'd do that. And in all honesty, Giovanni is completely irrelevant minus the medal to completing him and getting bonus grunts off of fake stops. The fact we get shadow raids, and can actively catch multiple of these pokemon that we only get one chance for against him with, just catch whatever he has but leave yourself at least one radar available. Plus the raids are what gives you the shiny shadow legendary anyways, so again no point in battling him.
I didn't know that IVs on shadows don't really matter too much since they do generally get one shot most often by the raid boss. I do have a couple of shadow Metagross that are level 40 that don't have the best IVs but since it doesn't matter too much I feel better now lol
If you have another shadow one which can become hundo then you should not purify it if you don't have other options then go for it as the shadow Pokemon can't get primal or mega form so
Should of Mentioned this but you can ONLY REMOVE FRUSTRATION - during Team GO Rocket Events that Happen every couple months!

I saw in pokego HUB that shadow raikou is the number one, and shadow elektivire is number 5
Wait what is the ideal Cp on those shadow Pokémon?
I want enough XLs for a shadow Scizor and Sneaseler for Master League Premier.
should i power them up even if they have mid IV's ? all my shadows are 2 star and below lmao
I am one level away from maxing out my perfect shadow Gardevoir, she absolutely destroys in PVP and PVE.
Gio visited me last early morning around 4am via baloon...😂 my first time with Giovanni as a beginner and defeated him after 3rd try.😂
I didn't know that IVs on shadows don't really matter too much since they do generally get one shot most often by the raid boss. I do have a couple of shadow Metagross that are level 40 that don't have the best IVs but since it doesn't matter too much I feel better now lol
I have a shadow groudon that’s 9/15/13. Powering up is worth it since IVs don’t matter?
How can i find giovani?
And should i purify it or not???
Very close to maxing my hundo shadow mamoswine🤩, and my 96 shadow rampardos
I always use shadow granbull in the great league the damage is insane
Is shadow Kyogre and Groundon worth powering up over the normal versions?
If you have one of the normal ones maxed out for primals, then yes shadow ones are preferable.
For fire, it is to be noted that regular reshiram is better than every shadow fire
Nice video
bro fr? Vid is 15 mins long, been uploaded 2 mins ago, and you did comment 40 seconds ago( in my view)?? What speed are you watching lol
@@CNLS2 4timea speed
I have a 14-15-15 shadow groudon and wasn’t sure to purify it or not before this vid🤞🏼
Did you purify or not
If you have another shadow one which can become hundo then you should not purify it if you don't have other options then go for it as the shadow Pokemon can't get primal or mega form so
@@DheubtJurel haven’t purified it yet, just might since I don’t have a shadow that can turn 100%
damn i was saving 2 of my super rocket radars i should probably use them to grab groudon huh? since he is the number 1 shadow ground type
I just fast tm magical leaf from my victreebel to see that it's better than razor leaf... I hope it doesn't matter that much..
I have a 14/15/15 iv shadow mudkip idk what to do with it
Is iv matter on shadow Pokemon??
