    Nice job,but you still need some banding around the load.

    This came up in perfect timing. I've just purchased four various flat cars from Atlas and Walthers. Thanks for sharing with us.

    You need to band them together. I use black tape and black thread.

      Yes, I agree. I got the art tape sitting on my work bench, when I get to it I will do an update on them. Thanks for watching!

    What about some sort if retainer straps? Loose loads would not happen like this.

    • @BensTrainsChannel

      I agree. I tried some scale telephone wire, but that didn’t look right. I am going to try some narrow art tape and see how that looks.

    Everything you did looks great. But where is the strapping on the loads for the cars?

    • @BensTrainsChannel
      @BensTrainsChannel  2 роки тому

      I agree, they need it. I had some scale telephone cable that I tried, but it was too small. I am thinking of picking up some narrow art tape and trying that out.

    Happy New Year. Just came across your channel. The March 2016 of Model Railroader has a very good article by M. R. Snell on Steel plate loads. I use . 020 &.030 styrene. It's a good idea to have a mix of flat and bulkheads with plate steel loads.

      Thanks for checking the video out. Thanks for the feedback, I do like the idea of some flats for the steel loads as well!

    You do beautiful work. Do you really think it is important to paint the entire sheets if you can only see the edges? I’m very impressed with the realism.

    • @BensTrainsChannel
      @BensTrainsChannel  2 роки тому +1

      I like the paint pen because I can basically slop the paint inside the wheel and call it done. When you get eye level with the wheels, you notice it but generally you don’t see much of it. Thanks for the kind comments!

    Here in Australia..... All loose loads need to be restrained, and usually, this type would have to be chained down. You show no restraints whatsoever on these..... A great looking load but I think it needs restraints added. Even your timber loads have no restraints... ..............

      @BensTrainsChannel  Рік тому

      Thanks for noticing :) I have since added tie downs for the steel loads. There are some newer videos with the loads strapped in. Thanks for watching!

    Maybe this is a dumb question, but which is the thicker material, the 060 styrene or the 040 styrene?

    • @BensTrainsChannel
      @BensTrainsChannel  Рік тому +1

      Not dumb at all, took me a little to get used to it back in the day. Smaller the number, the thicker the size. So in this case, the 0.40 is thicker.
