Understatement. It's an indie gem for sure. Masterpiece might be a bit of an exxageration but the initial card gameplay definitely hit the spots for me on top of the atmosphere, style, sound design, story, horrory and meta elements.

i once used teo sacrifice events to put the soul of the black goat and the eternal cockroach into the black cat, making for an infinitely sacrificeable, endlessly returning black cat that gave me three blood whenever i needed. It was pretty OP, I'm not going to lie

At first I thought this would be too macabre for my tastes, but it uses narration/plot twists so well it kept me interested until the end. Definitely not your typical cards game, this one asks to think outside the box (quite literally)!

This is a pleasant surprise! I got through a big chunk of Inscryption myself, but hit a wall at a certain point and couldn't really proceed anymore. I've also never really done well with horror/suspenseful games, which ultimately made me set it aside, so experiencing it through one of my favorite channels is probably the next best thing. Hope you like it and I'm curious to see how it goes too! Also forgot to mention one of the reasons I was interested in it is because it gives me big Yugioh Season 0 vibes! Ultimately it was just a little too creepy for me though.
A bit of tips: Thin the deck, the less cards you have, the more chance you'll draw the needed card. Get up the table often, observe the surroundings, you are basically in a escape room cabin, find secrets, some will give new cards, and some are for progression. The game is trial and error, learn from mistakes and form a strategy. Remember that you got items, use them wisely, and only when needed. Pelts can't be sacrificed, but they make good blockers, and if they die they aren't removed after the game, so don't worry when you play them. Take your time, it's made to be relaxing, you ARE in a cabin in the woods playing a simple card game with immersive music after all. Beware the Fish Hook.

That being said, he also plays games at the very least over a week in advance (for Patreon subscribers' 7-day early access) so most of these tips aren't helpful anymore. I think you're the first playthrough I've seen to actually stop and look up the skink and ant sigils to solve the drawer puzzles! I'm so pleased. So many people just brute force it and it's annoying! What's the fun in just bashing it until it works? Anyway, I would not have thought to see this game on your channel! Looking forward to it. This has been very fun so far.

Many people just tried to brute force it to no avail and some just gave up without even considering looking up the sigils.
Yeah, I'm kind of 50/50 as to whether I'm interested in some of the recent games he played, which is a shame as they tend to last a long time. Having a few shorter games in the mix would likely increase the chance of watching more series. Obviously its up to Mapo as to what he wants to play, but mixing in a short game with the longer ones would provide greater range and number of games played..

if you like the map structure of Inscryption (and Cult of the Lamb to an extent), I'd heartily recommend Slay the Spire, which was clearly an influence on Inscryption's maps. Slay the Spire also inspired Peglin's maps, if you've ever played that.

You did really well on your first boss actually, it took me a few tries to get it right. There are still so many secrets to uncover in this game and I cannot wait to see you play the rest of it :D
This game is fantastic and breaks the 4rth wall so badly, that Deadpool would cry. However, the ARG is no longer doable. So when you beat the game, you can react to Matpat's Game theory. He did a trilogy that covers the whole ARG game.

59:20 squirl is not in danger. Ant will kill the Sparrow, so this turn you deal 2 and take 2 damage. Next turn, even if no cards are played by you, you deal 3 and take 2 damage. Sacrifising ant this turn was not good
Just played 2hrs myself and stopped. Loved the card game, love the vibes - roguelikes just aren’t for me. Do not have the patience. Super happy instead to experience the game vicariously through one of my favourite Let’s Players! Looking forward to this, Mapo
