@@tainamichelle2683 I know its a funny bit about her character that she sleeps all the time, but I think it's interesting that she sleeps so much, and it might show that she's always just so mentally tired all the time
Jungle moon sent a precedent in dream fusions, and they just dream as a fusion Idk if it works different when it's a "perma-fusion" but I don't think it is
So to clarify, she wasn't communicating with steven, since she was actively saying she DIDNT want him there, that was just all steven, like how pearl explained he was using his dreams to connect with her mentally
Funny how you talked about Steven struggling with his human and Gem halves right before we get Steven's sitcom dream sequence where all the Gems are humans :^Ic Also since Gems are shapeshifters, they can mimmick bodily functions of humans if they want and such

The water that Jasper and Lapis were standing on in the “dream” (the inside of their fusion) has the appearance of a real life Malachite (the fusion’s name), it’s interesting to look it up and compare it
Gems can both eat and sleep but they’re both such unknown concepts that it doesn’t make sense to. Or they never needed to. Once they start, they start to do it more and more often. The feelings it produce while not necessary, it’s nice. Addictive in fact. Pearl has never done it until now, and likely won’t try again for a long while. Same reason she just doesn’t eat. Amethyst can do it so easily simply because she’s been around humans the most while knowing the least about gem culture. Garnet can both eat and sleep, but she rarely sleeps and doesn’t eat a lot. Sometimes she has to stop herself from eating something she doesn’t like
( 2:25 he denied it initially, but also said "it's a curse I must bear" 6:20 sleep - Amethyst answers that (not needed, but feels good) And...oh nvm that was food...wait no still applies I was going to say Pearl also said they get everything they need from their gem (energy or nourishment was the word) Oof I know why theyre fused but seeing Jasper get dragged back down with that expression just makes me feel bad (Also obligatory "Malachite is toxic when exposed to water"
Considering that fusions are like relationships, I think this also really shows how mutually lapis and jasper are bad for each other in that fusion. I often see people oversimplifying the situation and painting it as Jasper being the abuser and Lapis the victim, and although that's true on a certain level, they're both mutually harming each other every second they're together, they're always fighting for control over the other, etc etc
It's also breaking the stereotype of the "perfect victim". Lapis is the victim here, she was forced into a relationship with her captor but not because she is a victim she need to be the more "rational" or victimize herself. Victims can develop toxic attitudes and can you blame them for it? As far as we know Jasper isn't the one suffering here, she's just being held back from hurting others by lapis who is trying to keep her own sanity for the sake of Steven. Idk where people got the idea that "oh what if lapis was the REAL abuser" that's bullshit, that's not how this works, you can be abused and *think* you were the one in the wrong without that actually being true. Fighting back against abuse isn't the same as "abusing the abuser" it's just self defense and i wish other people in the fandom (and in the world in general) understood that.
Ok but lets be frank here. Lapis forced jasper into it. Jasper wanted lapis to fuse and lapis could have easily just beat jasper without fusing not to mention just working with the crystal gems to beat her. Lapis forced herself into the fusion.@@GBLtheMOTH
@@kayden2119 she could have done that. if she was in the right space mindset to do so. put it in context: lapis not so long ago finally was freed from her mirror prison by people she doesn't trust, the she goes into space to go to homeworld for help, then she gets captured by them and it's trapped once again, she's reliving a trauma, then she's used to help the enemy and is kept in a prison, she gets out and tried to fly away but jasper, a high range gem that could easly crush her gem now that she is in a vulnerable position offers her to fuse with her (if A offers B to fuse, idk how you get to the conclusion that B is "forcing" A into fusing?)lapis is scared, she is mentally conflicted and can't thibk straight, she also doesn't trust the crystal gems at all, she thinks of a plan to save steven from the gem that could literally *murder* him and fuses to then fight back and drag jasper down into the ocean with her. Also, since lapis is a metaphor for abusive relationships, having the victim to be stronger than she thinks is a great way of showing that victims aren't weak for whatever happened to them. (istg lily orchad's video really rotted so many teenage brains)
I hate lily orchad so dont even bring that video up. Lapis could have used the literal ocean next to her to easily fight off jasper she does not need to trust the crystal gems at all for that. She wanted to lock jasper up not just stop her. That is why she made the decision to fuse and trap her.@@GBLtheMOTH
True. But another thing that I don't know if most people are aware of but Lapis really didn't have to do any of this. She didn't have to fuse herself to Jasper if it really was to protect Steven. The others could have beat her. She could have just used attacked her with the ocean. I guess Lapis impulsively thought that was the right choice but really she just jumped the gun@@GBLtheMOTH
@@Isabella-tu9fb i see your point, but to be fair she's in a bad head space and it's hard to think rationally when you are in those types of situations. Even if it wasn't the best choice i think it's understandable.
Gems don't need sleep, so they don't get sleep tired, but they CAN get mentally exhausted!
Not unless you're Amethyst 😂

right, but when you are trying to hold on to your mental sanity, most of the times, you can't really think rationally yk.

It was more like Steven reaching out to Lapis than she was reaching out to Steven.
Damn, garnet was out cold
Pearl's dream actually had me laughing, no wonder why she always talks about Rose 😂
2:30 time, time, time for everything
I remember laughing SO HARD because of the ending some years ago
When its the extended opening dropping 🥺?
Another great episode!
The only two things I found memorable from this episode was Pearl’s Dream & Garnet passing out.
Still laughing about them years later
