    I make a very similar whipped balm, cream, whatever you want to call it, and I put it on mine and my son's face and hands before he goes out to play in the snow too! Its great to keep the cold from bothering us too soon. I also use a lavender and lemon balm infused oil for a bedtime balm, and put it on at night time 🥰

    There's a lot of conversations surrounding adding honey to tallow & whether it needs a preservative. There's the skin care specialists saying you absolutely need one, purely because it contains water, and the bee keepers saying you don't as it is a natural preservative - self preserving, and a preservative for other products.
    I have been researching and can't find anything specific that says honey in a product will need the preservative. A lot about how testing is being done on using it in food as a preservative - but not much else. I'm curious as to whether the water is 'free' or active in the honey once it is combined with tallow, or an oil, as that would determine whether mold/bacteria can grow. Again there is the group that says yes as water is water regardless, and those that say no, it's locked up and doesn't get released when combined. Hard to get a straight answer. I made a lip balm that worked perfectly with no emulsifier or preservative - but have stopped as I can't get clarification on this issue. Your thoughts on this are appreciated. I've probably opened a can of worms here lol.

    April, what is your view on tallow being comedogenic in balms and face creams, etc?

    • @sheisofthewoods
      @sheisofthewoods  20 годин тому +4

      Not true at all! Tallow is fat from a red meat animal and we are red meat animals who consistently and obsessively wash the fats off of our face which actually causes and allows bacteria to get into our pores which is what causes blackheads. Because we are also red meat animals our body recognizes the tallow basically as our own fat that we are washing off.

    • @MartaSpendowska
      @MartaSpendowska 19 годин тому +1

      @ that’s what I always thought yet they whole beauty/ chemistry industry says it is comedogenic. Thanks, April:)

    April, thank you so much for this video. I just made bone broth and had several jars of tallow that we saved from the process. Would you recommend any tallow? I have p1g f@t on the shelf as well. We don’t eat a lot but i figured i could make something from it. You mentioned essential oils . How many drops would you recommend to ensure not throwing off the proportions of the final product. I take my showers at night. I don’t want to smell like beef or p1g when i head to work. Thank you again for your content and education.
