- OMG! We got our hands on a brand-new 2017 / 2018 Audi RS3 Sedan (Limousine) and already captured our "pure SOUND" today. This particular car comes with the optional sports exhaust (RS-Sportabgasanlage) and of course with the new 400 hp 5-cylinder! You may listen yourself but yes it does sound different compared to the 2016 predecessor and also in comparison to the TT RS we recently drove. It's not really quieter but the valve opening cycle is different from 2016 and the harsh bangs on downshifts are more civilized. BUT, compared to the predecessor it has more sound and tone in the lower RPMs and sounds more melodic. Please judge on your own but in my opinion its still the best sounding car in this class....by far! It’s built on the same platform (plus the commercial for the first gen RS3 is literally a R8 giving birth to an rs3 sportback which explains the similarities)

I love the rs3! In my opinion the best Audi-car because of it's practicality, the fact that you can choose a sedan version and (of course) the super sporty sound!

I miss my audi 100 20v 2.2T. It was my first car but then stolen a few years ago. The 5 cylinder sounds are always distictive and an absolute pleasure to drive.

Is it Audi's exhaust engineering, or a multiple of 5 cylinders that makes this sound so much like a an R8/ Huracan?
They used half the engine of the Huracan which is why it sounds very similar to the Huracan.
Rs3 rs4 are the most fun in the audi rs lines.

Marvin8870 hab ich mir auch grad gedacht hab selber den alten und der knallt und fetzt deutlicher. Mir stellt sich die Frage ob man dies mit einer nachträglichen Klappenfernsteuerung lösen kann oder ob man die Parameter auch im ECU ändern muss. (Hab Interesse am neuen aber nur wenn er wie der pre-facelift klingt)
Da muss man ne Schubabschaltung programmieren, glaube ich! Insgesamt von Auto ist der neue trotzdem deutlich besser, virtual Cockpit, besseres Fahrverhalten usw.
MrBalers01 Wieder so einer, der mal gar keine Ahnung hat. Die Schubabschaltung muss DEAKTIVIERT werden, damit er weiterhin einspritzt, wenn man vom Gas geht!!111!

One drove past me the other day at full throttle and I thought it was some V10 supercar, I was surprised to see a RS3. Wow that exhaust is really something. It's like a R8 but with extra pops and crackles!
I'm not familiar with Audi's but do they give you an option to standard or sport exhausts when you order your cars like BMW & MB or do they all come with the same exhaust?
ben fl You have the option to include the RS Sport exhaust. It doesn’t come like this if you don’t configurate it.

Dieser ist wahrscheinlich mit der optionalen Sportabgasanlage ausgestattet. Kann man sich irgendwo den Unterschied zum Serien RS3 Auspuff anhören? Im Konfiguration kann man nämlich wählen.

Wie bekommt man diesen Sound im Stand hin? Mein RS3 dreht nur bis 4000 U/Min und hat auch im Dynamic Modus die Klappen zu.
