    Well done! It is nice to have these things pointed out! In 2015, I bought a new loaded Lexus GX. Although there is 90.62589% I love, I loathe the back gate. You have to move the shopping cart or stroller out of the way to open this beast. It is a ginormous, LONG, clunky, awkward CAR DOOR which will harvest at least ONE middle finger per shopping trip from vehicles forced to go around your massive lane block! The back glass lifts up, but the vehicle is so high off the ground that the avg lady cannot reach anything through it! Wish there’d been a video like this for THAT! Thx for posting!

    All good talking points and for the most part 4 out 5 of your "hates" are tolerable, but I was surprised about the trans whine. I really couldn't hear it on the video, but you said it was there. Then the mechanics confirmed it's a "standard problem." Hello GM, WTF!? Not on an $80k vehicle! Looking forward to you upgrading to LEDs and seeing the improvement.

    I have a 2016 GMC Yukon Denali XL. I have never once used the hands free liftgate. I forgot it even had that feature. I have no issue with the sunroof or column shifter. I have a mat in the cargo space but never noticed any bump back there without the mat. My complaint would be the dashboard lights should be adjustable during the day. At night, I can make it as dim as I like but not when its bright outside.

    I have a red one these in the regular size not the XL. I say the column shift stays to keep all of the room in the console. A dial on the dash would be okay with me though. I agree the storage space over the spare tire could be more useful with a better cover and handle. The hi-beams are a pet peeve of mine too with the other cheap old school bulbs. Even my Hyundia Tucson Limited has a panoramic roof and HID's and LED"S all around I think. Hello GMC, are you listening to your professional grades now? Mine does not have a gearbox whine. It did take it a while to loosen up when new, maybe a few thousand miles before it rode even better and shifted easier. It was a stiff tight vehicle new.
    If I could add a number six to your list it would be the crappy nav system. The video system, forget it. Even if you can figure out how to use it still has short comings. I just put a DVD in and push buttons until it plays on the right screen. My major irritation is the nav map screen, it has a large black directional arrow that covers up local detail around you. It uses the same black arrow on the weather map from the satellite XM/Sirius radio and again you can't see what is going on around you for many miles. Ford/Lincoln large SUV's have a much better and clearer nav screen with even more weather detail and includes information on the weather screen like hail and windstorms (tornado).
    I didn't buy another Ford Expedition because of the motor differences; GM was the winner here, love that 6.2L. It replaced my 5.4L Ford Expy the was nothing short of anemic at best, even going downhill with a hurricane force tail wind. I really like my Denali with only the 8 speed now but will look elsewhere for its replacement, but wait there are no other large SUV's left on the market. I like the size and road height of a large SUV but who else has a competitor for them?
    If you do change out all your bulbs for LED's please post the swap out with the part numbers on here.

  • @howlme

    I have a '15 Suburban, which is the same thing but the emblems and the grill...I'll give you 3 more comparing with the Ford Expedition: The back up camera resolution (even the lincoln mkt looks beautiful!),.The third row seat head rests which in the expedition just oull a cord and folds; i use mine as livery and often have to accommodate luggage and people then i know how annoying is to put down and put them up ready for the next pax...and the cargo space mode on the expedition is fantastic ;)

  • @MyDenaliAintTheSame

    The column shifter gives you more space in your column shifter. I drink my coffee on the way to work every day and a console shifter would get in the way constantly. Also I agree it is certainly reliable. As far as the floor cover that bows, I agree whole heartedly. But GM has finally come a long way from interior rattles, and a non fold flat 3rd row. I have an 06 Yukon Denali Xl and an 18 Sierra SLT. They have made significant improvements over time.

    If I might add. I noticed that when I bring mine to the car wash in the winter time, water gets frozen behind those black window/door stanchions. As a result, water expands when frozen & those stanchions pop out. This is my theory mind you. Perhaps it could be do to the frequency of the car wash (I pay a fee per month at a local car wash).

    The Denali seems to regress as they get newer. I've owned 3 (96' 03' 11). Out of the three i think the 2003 was the best. It was fast, comfortable to drive and it had a mean look about it. The 2011 is slow the driver seat is so uncomfortable no matter how much u adjust it and the whole cockpit seems to be much smaller.

    I hate the new gearshift in the Cadillac XT line. It is horrible. Push forward for reverse and pull back to drive forward? The awkward placement of the shift unlock button doesnt help either. I do wish the column shift was more rigid in my Escalade, and wouldn't mind it being replaced with a push button shift system.
    I hope they save the massaging seats for the Escalade Platinum line, as there needs to be more differentiation between the product lines.
    The LED backup lights on the Escalade are horrible as well. They don't put out enough light for the backup camera. I'm considering adding a led light bar under the rear bumper to activate when I put it in reverse.

    I maybe late to the party, but HID to the highbeams are a no no especially for a non bi-xenon. All HID needs a warm up. Anywhere from 5-20 seconds for full warm up. So I would leave it incandescent so when I need highs, it is instant. Unless you retrofit a Bi-xenon.

    Day 3 with my Denali and noticed the trans whine 'on the drive home. GM has been having some serious issues with their truck transmissions (minus Allison on HD models). I am coming from a 2015 Sierra 1500 that I had lifted with 35" tires on it. That set up all but made the trans go get PTSD. It would miss shifts, hold shifts, etc. My opinion on the Denali ...scratch that...on the entire GM lines of trucks and SUVs, replace the transmission with something as reliable as the Allison. I am ok with the column shift and would replace that gripe with the rake of the vehicle. I have already ordered a leveling kit to raise that front in. It is an SUV. We who buy large SUVs are not worried about arrow-dynamics or gas mileage. See Toyota or Ford on how SUVs ride height should look from the factory.

    Well I'll be damned. I though there was something wrong with my power lift gate in mine because it kept opening by itself.......brought it to GM and they couldn't figure it out for me. It is a huge pain though when you are trying to hook up a Camper or ATV Trailer and you keep getting hit with the door.

      Thomas BMX I dint believe they are Vortech engines anymore the Vortech was because of the intake design and port injection these are direct injected like the new lt1 which can have a noise from injectors and the DOD but that’s not the type of noise I am hearing I do have a suspicion it is the Kose canceling in the passenger speaker that may be bad

    The Ford Pickup isnt considered a family travel vehicle for the highway though most will use it like that. Thats why the panoramic is there and not a fold down Tv. But i do agree with the reverse lights and plate lights not being LED. It's just another way automakers will nickle and dime you because most consumers dont even pay attention nor care for those tid bits you mention. Good Eye tho! The same with the high beams.....

    WOW . . someone at GM must really like you . . four years later, they've fixed ALL FIVE of the items on your list !!! They improved a lot more than five items, too - I really like the new Yukon Denalis and hope to buy one in the future. Have you driven a 2021 or newer one yet ? If not, you need to go to your local dealer and test drive one ( even if you're not ready for a new one yet ) So much has changed for the better. People are complaining about some things on the new one, but they usually have mostly positive things to say about it. It's been five years since you made this video, have you had any problems with your 2017 ? ( it looked like a real nice one )

    • @HammerdownMotorsportsUSA
      @HammerdownMotorsportsUSA  Рік тому +1

      I'm sure somebody at GM may have found this vid lol but I have not had a chance to drive a new model yet mine still has low miles and other than the issues it came with has been working well, the new ones have a pretty big price tag that keeps me from spending diesel truck money on one but for now this one does the job.

    I'm still trying to figure out why people don't like a column shifter. Is there an issue with it? No. The only reason people complain is because Ram and Ford have them so they automatically think GM should do the same thing. I'll take a column shifter over a button that IS GOING to go bad eventually. Possibly sooner rather than later. Plus it just takes up more room on the center console. The center console on the Yukon/Tahoe is perfectly designed and looks amazing. Last thing I want is a big knob in the middle of it taking up storage space.
    LED bulbs have nothing to do with the price of the vehicle BTW. Most of the time you don't need to use high beams when your vehicle is equipped with HID's anyway. I know it bothers the hell out of me when I see these "hey bo" trucks riding around with HID's in every possible light locatoin on the front of the vehicle. Projector HID's were designed to NOT BLIND other people.
    The panoramic sunroof is also just a "cool" factor. If you've ever owned a vehicle with a sunroof then you know they will eventually leak. Who wants a massive leak to deal with 10-15 years from now?

    • @brettarmstrong1564
      @brettarmstrong1564 5 років тому

      a_a_ron wow dude! The hole reason they created the button shifter IS because it created more space AND IT DOES speaking from experience from someone who had a column versus button and they both work equally great. They just take some time getting used to. Eventually they will all have at some point or another then what are you gonna complain about?

  • @mikem3742

    My 2016 Yukon SLT has cost me more in repairs than I spent on my 2002 Chevy Tahoe LS in 25 years. Yukon tail lights $800.00, the paint is dead on the hood and the roof from the windshield to behind the sunroof, Stabilitrack is out and the driver assist doesn’t work. The console lid phone charger doesn’t work, and the latch is broken. The engine has an annoying loud tick which I gave read is usually cylinder 4 messed up which will cost a huge amount for a lifter job. The Yukon and Tahoe read door gaskets are a definite design flaw. $68,000 and it does not have a light under the hood. I am not pleased at all. I loved my old Tahoe and wish I had never bought this GMC defect.
