    Fortunately, I bought the Ora's. I had already seen the specs and dimensions of the Ora4's and I'm sure they will be great speakers, but for my desk next to the iMac the standard Ora's are just perfect. The Ora4's are probably ideal for someone with a laaarge desk :)

    I got the Kanto Sub8 today and connected them to the ORA4. The near-field results are stunning. I have the KEF LS50 Wireless II in another room, so my expectations were pretty high. The subwoofer transforms the ORA4 into a killer desktop setup. Everything is improved by the sub, which lets the ORA4 really sing. I've been listening all night from my MacBook Pro, USB-C connection, Audirvana Origin, and high-resolution AIF & DSD files. Clear, transparent, great imaging and soundstage. The Sub8 addition is worth every penny.

    First and foremost: thank you for your work, as a hifi enthusiast I really enjoy viewing your videos!
    I discovered your channel yesterday and have viewed almost every video by now I don't know if this is a more European perspective but there are a view well loved and really good speakers out there that fit your bill:
    the MR1 by Ruark (I'm currently listening with them to music) and by Audio Pro the A series. The A28 sound a little bit dull in higher frequencies but they are overall a nice pair of speakers, the Ruark is more open, more crisp at the top end but overall I'd say the perfect Jazz-loudspeaker if there is such a thing.
    Furthermore, there are is I think a German company"System Audio" with their Saxo 7 active - I heard only good things about it as well as the System Audio AIR 9.
    I know I know - there are many more out there, especially in the price range from 1.000 - 2.000 EUR/USD but just to name a few more European market-oriented speakers I thought I name them. This is all because I am currently looking for a pair of good desktop speakers with good voice performance and long listening qualities - that's the reason why I found you and why I am on the topic
    Edit: almost forgot the LN01A by the French manufacture Triangle, they sound crisp and punchy with a brilliant tweeter - perhaps no evryone taste

    I have been listening to Kanto Ora and Ora4 today. Many different music genres, constantly switching between them. They are sitting on my desktop, tilted up, next to each other. Changing their positions, swapping them. No sub. The signature is very similar, to my ears they sound a tiny bit on a warmer side, I like it. However there is a difference and not just the Ora4 being able to hit a bit lower and louder but in a few more aspects as well. The didferences are subtle, but easily noticeable.
    • the Ora4 sounds just a little bit more V shaped, even the highs are brighter, not by much, but still there,
    • the original Ora sounds a bit warmer. However both of them are warm, just a right amount, easy to listen to.
    • the Ora4 have a bigger soundstage and they sound more open and clear. The voices are easier to understand. Original Ora sounds a little bit more veiled.
    • the original Ora has more forward mids, stronger emphasis on voices.. Not clearer, but a little more pronounced.
    • Original Ora have a little bit more resonance, what I mean is the voices can be less clear I am repeating my self, but I need to emphasize that these differences are really VERY subtle. I was paying a lot of attention to pick up the nuances. I have a Kanto Sub8 on the way and will compare them with it as well. I am trying to find out if Ora4 would still sound better when with the Sub .
    Just the speakers without a sub and enough space on the desk? Definitely Ora4, especially when the price difference is only about 15%. $350 vs $400. Ora4 without a sub has enough bass for most casual desktop listeners. Original Ora, obviously don’t hit as low, but for its compact size, they sound great. Still plenty of bass for most situations, even without a sub. So, to conclude. To my ears Ora4 sound better. I would say maybe 5-8% better? 😆 They are clearer, less veiled, louder, with more definition, less congested. If you already have the Original Ora, it isn’t really worth it to get Ora4. But if you are deciding which ones to get, and can fit the larger speakers on the desk, go Ora4. If not, the Original Ora is still a great speaker and one of the best, if not the best in its size.

    • @LorenzoNW
      @LorenzoNW 4 дні тому

      They should both take up the same amount of desk space, given that both sound optimal with the SP9 or SP6 stands - whichever brings the tweeters closest to ear level. I have a pair of ORA4sa and SP9 stands and am blown away by how good they sound. I also own a $25K audiophile system so I have some basis for saying that.
      I too am wondering whether I should buy the Kanto SUB8. My understanding is that besides going deeper, an additional benefit when setting the cross-over to cut off at the mid-bass range is a more open soundstage with clearer midrange and treble.

    Thanks for covering these !
    They weren’t on my radar.
    I’m thinking between these and genelecs

    • @LorenzoNW
      @LorenzoNW Місяць тому +1

      @BenCaesar Genelecs are studio monitors. They're tuned for audio engineers in recording studios. You can hear every little detail with the Genelec and have a relatively flat response because that's what they were designed to do. On the other hand, the ORA and ORA4 are designed primary for nearfield listening enjoyment of music and videos. They won't be quite as detailed or flat as the Genelec but they'll be less fatiguing to listen to over time and will most likelybemoremusically engaging.
      If you opt for the ORA4, consider either the Kanto SP9 or SP6HD stands to position the tweeters at ear level. Use Sticky Tack to attach the speakers to the stands by rolling small balls between the palms of your hands, then placing them near the corners on the stands top plates, and then press the speakers firmly against the plates to couple them.

    • @BenCaesar
      @BenCaesar Місяць тому

      @@LorenzoNWdude you’re a legend for such a detailed reply.
      I’ve used Genelecs in studios before and loved them. Looking to get my own but I’m in an awkward place of moving a lot so not able to treat a room and build a studio properly.
      I’m a producer so not a mix engineer so am in between vibe speakers(Kanto) or more critical listening (Genelecs)
      I think for future proofing and scaling especially as I want to get a sub, Genelec is the better solution.
      And as far as I know Kanto comes with a sub but isn’t able to tune it specifically.
      Anyway that’s my thinking so far 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @Jasper_Tech
      @Jasper_Tech  Місяць тому +1

      First, LorenzoNW is spot on! I could not have said it better; thank you!
      I just got my first set of Genelec's because so many people were asking about them. They're amazing studio monitors! The ORA is not a studio monitor; it's monitor adjacent. If you're looking for an actual monitor, go with the Genelec's (or maybe something form ADAM Audio - I just reviewed the new D3V and love them).

      @@Jasper_Tech thanks for the insight and detailed review man ! Yeh watching your video put me on to ORA but I think for future proofing Genelec would be better especially professionally. But may do ORA for the lounge.

Many of us need it not to get perfect understanding of what is the sound of each one but for comparison among them. And it will be the perfect vid about speakers with some ur comments added about recording comparison to real sound. Not only comments, both please, samples and comments. Thats how u approach most of the audience (comments for those audio pros who screams when hear samples on YT:D and samples for those who "hey i spent 15 mins on ur vid and where are sound samples").

    Completely agree, being able to tune the sound from the speaker is important for those who want to use them with a smart Tv. Bought the Edifier M4's for my mum's apartment which are excellent for the money but they are definitely lacking power which is where the ORA's could come in especially being white, the only obstacle is the 4 x price tag.

I think the aluminum cone has that really nice crisp response I like in my taste for music and sound signature, while the ORAs were all around better rounded speakers they lack that sound signature I was looking for. The ORAs also sometimes had a bit of that harsh highs that would bug me on some songs. Ora 4 is 24bit hi-res capable! 4" woofer means you will get lower distortion as well :D Can't wait to see more measurements for it as well because Ora 3 measured very linear and very wide directivity, but because of the small woofer the low end distortion would kick in very early esp if you turned them up a little. Hoping the Ora 4 is similar in linearity, but if they're too "bassy" id liked to see if Kanto would be willing to create a re-flashed DSP profile via the USB input.

    On the table in the video, the tweeter on the ORA 4 looks to be slightly below chin height. If that's how you auditioned them, I'm wondering if placing them on Kanto SP6HD or SP9 stands to raise the tweeters up to ear level would balance out the sound better. I would probably also skip the cable management ports, tape them up, and fill the stands with sand to further reduce unwanted resonances and improve isolation from the desk. Then I'd use a mounting putty like Sticky Tack to adhere the speakers to the stands.

My speakers would be a few inches off the wall on one side and a window on the other side of my 32" monitor in a 10'x13" room. Listening would pretty much be near field only. I may be moving into an appartment/townhouse in the near future so to much bass could be an issue. I dont really listen to any rap/hip-hop but want a good full range of sound. My only experience with speakers is a PC set of Harmon Kardon 20+ years ago, then some old Logitech 2.1 and finally I inherited a Bose Companion 3 Series 2 (itty bitty 2 inch drives and a 5.5inch sub), these sound alright to me but they are old and starting to crap out, I think the sub might even be broken. The other day for comparison I tested them againt a Creative Stage soundbar and my Bose still sounded way better. So needless to say, I need to upgrade. My PC or TV setup have all the latest connection options including optical. For size I'm torn between the Vanatoo TOs+, the Kanto Ora4 and the Kanto Ora Original, I'd like the option to add a sub if only just to be able to turn the bass down if it is too much. I like the Edifiers for price r1280DBs but they are a smidge to big without adding a shelf on top of my shelf to extend it. The Vanatoo and the Ora4 have 24bit and aluminum woofers where the Ora Original is 16bit paper woofers (I saw a review that said paper sounded nicer than aluminumn). I'm no audiofile, I just want something that sounds better than the Bose with no static or tin can sound. In $CAD Vanatoo is $575 (best looking/wood/grill/silver, all the bells and whistles), Ora4 is $500, Ora Original is $400 (perfect size), Edifier is $200 plus a shelf extension, Swan OS-10 is $250 (but no sub connection). I haven't heard any of these speakers IRL, have you ever heard the small Bose speakers? Please help me decide. Is the Edifier craze just hype? Is the 16bit Ora good enough? There are very few reviews of Kanto on Amazon and Vanatoo I would have to order from their site, probably in the US. Thanks for your help. Oops forgot to mention, for music mainly, gaming and movies but I also have headsets, but for music I like to be free and turn it up and sing! No content creation or studio monitor stuff required. Also considering the Kanto Sub6 over the Sub8 for size reasons. Thanks for your help. One more thing, woukd the ora4 fit on the stands meant for the smaller Ora, that way the stand would still fit on my shelf with the speaker floating off the edge.

    Liked and Subscribed. These are **exactly** the speakers I'm debating over, including the the Fluance Ai41. My set up is Mac Mini and PS5 hooked up to LGC3 42" at my desk. The LG has HDMI ARC, Optical, and 3.5mm outs. Currently using a Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 BT system via 3.5mm (lots of white noise when no content is being played - main reason for the upgrade). If I get the ORAs (OG or 4) would you recommend I purchase an optical to USB-C cable and run said cable from the LG to the speakers? Or would it be better to run a 3.5mm to L/R RCA cable? I'm planning to add a sub in the future and my use case scenario is YTMusic, YT Vids, web surfing and PS5 gaming. Loving the content and delivery. Thanks!
