Cheers Phil👍. It really did aggressively attack the styrene and paint and as that paint was from a major chain, over here,I could see others might try it😲😭🤔
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Everyone I know when it comes to using chemicals. Especially since this company makes automotive products. And if you have a problem with it before checking, why didn’t you research it before bad mouthing the product on UA-cam?
@@CaptSpeirsB744 I read the directions on the can and am alerting others to the hazards of it. Thanks for your comments, they have made me aware of points I hadn't considered.👍😃
I've always said this for a while the big cans of paint are not meant for models but they are for patio furniture lol 😂 playing chemist is like running a stop sign sooner or later you get hit...and models aren't cheap...and sometimes very rare... It's happened to me same crazing reaction melted plastic either from the start or years down the road it's best to stick to actual model paint... And stick to one brand for primer and color coat.... It is possible to use very hot automotive paints but a barrier primer is a must to seal the plastic from the hot solvent base. But in the long run it's easier and cheaper and time saving to stick to model specfic paints to many variables to deal with using other types... I still hear Donn Yost saying use model car paints cause models aren't getting cheaper!.... Good PSA Peter a subject more modellers should touch on and be honest about their end results it helps us all out and keeps us out of trouble... Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cheers John🍻👍. Great and insightful answer👍🤔. I've had no probs with the usual autopaint I use. But it is a gamble trying new brands. I've seen people having trouble with modern modelling paints too🤔😧
There's a picture of a car on the can.😁. I've had other products by this company that have been ok. I may just have the only bad can but I thought it worth putting out a hazard warning so people will test first👍😀unlike me 😭😭
I always tend to stay away from the none branded paints been burnt a few time with them eating plastic ect ect I've been buying my primer on Amazon 12 tins of 250 ml primmer for £16.49 Auto Extreme and 3 tins of Hycote 400ml for £ 16 .49 Halfords is selling it for 9 quid a tin day light robbery Hycote would be my choice of primmer there is a few colors of primmer to chose from👍👍
I've had no problems with the auto rattle cans I normally use. There are 3 different colours of primer in this video apart from the dodgy white, all are the same brand and have no adverse reactions at all🤔👍😃
I kinda like the stug,Doug. Reminds me of my holiday in Leningrad🤣🤣👍. I don't often have probs with paint but hey ho,a few quid down the drain and a little more exercise in rubbing down, deep joy😭🤣🤣🤣
I guess you have to be careful and test before spraying something important
Yes,you are right,John 👍i did the tests after the accident 😭.
Good shout out Pete, always worth warning people. Cheers 👍
Yes,thats what i thought👍
Good call Pete, thanks for the warning mate.👍👍😉

That is why i always test on a spoon or left over parts
Good idea👍
Thanks for the heads up 👍 I haven’t used that before I will keep away from it 👀👍
I bought it in QD Stig🤔😧
I like that rotating platform in the back there. Where did you pick that up from?
I got it on eBay a year or two ago. I think it was made by Trumpeter and wasn't very expensive 👍
If you read the safety data sheet on this product from their website you would have seen it contains acetone. Doh!
And how many people do that??

Bummer Pete. Hope you can find a primer that works for you. I'll be watching
Wow! That really messed up everything! I wonder if that paint is designed for lawn chairs or something where it doesn't matter.
