How to catch trout in stocked lakes & ponds!!!

- The Carolina rig is a great way to fish for stocked trout in a lake. This slip sinker rig allows the skittish trout to take the bait without feeling resistance from the sinker.. For best results try different length leaders to find out where the trout are suspending, and always use floating baits with this type of setup.. Check out the links below for more info and the products used in this video.

Not many fishermen remember to wet their hands before handling the fish. Top man, and nice video.
Thanks!
Jon Task i always net mine and dont even touch them just to make sure they dont fall on the ground or i dont take any slime off and i flip the net when im done
I am new to fishing. What is the reason to wash your hand and not remove the slim?
I would like to know to, I have been around some old timers not one has done that tip.
@@Juan.Melendez the slime on there skin protects them from bacteria
hey bro, i'm a very experienced trout fisherman, so didn't get much from the video, but i just wanted to say, you're awesome at this, you're an amazing teacher and i'm glad theres guys like you helping new people get into the sport, you're concise and great at teaching people things, i really hope your channel gets huge.
Same here to ok
Unfortunately Timmy passed away. RIP
As a new, beginner angler this is so helpful and informational. Thank you!
Tomorrow is going to be my first time trout fishing, so I really appreciate all the information. I've always fished large mouth bass and now I'm going to try for trout. I have 4 older brothers who have fished for years and won't teach me so I've come a long way teaching myself from guys like you with your videos and now I'm catching 8 to 10 pound large mouth bass. Wish me luck learning how to catch trout. Ps. If a woman ever asks you to teach her how to fish, just say sure. 😊😎
1. I love love love the way you release the fish 10 seconds to enjoy the gourgoues bow then you took care of him in a awesome manner
2. One HELL OF A BAIT SETUP
Thanks so much! please subscribe. I'm gonna do a video everyday
Good video, thank you for posting. You are the first catch-and-release sportsman I've ever heard mention and use the "wet your hands" before touching technique. I learned this as a kid. Most people don't know that dry hands remove the slime and make the fish susceptible to both bacteria and fungus infection. Dry hands equal dead fish.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video! You are right and very good points you bring up, thanks for your comment, tight lines!
DrDread i usually catch fish and just throw them in the woods so no one else can catch them
Steven Mudpit lol
Timmy Bangerz idk
Thats a good point .
I am a simple man, I see people release their catches, I like the video! Nothing needs to die today👍
I am the same way I only keep if I have to
u done made urself a powerbait moon rock
King BMX haha
Lol
My brother once took half the can and said I'm tired of loosing the power bait put it on waited 10 minutes retrieved the bait and it was gone I was laughing my ass of
Off
Hahahaha rite!
lmao
Yeah the sinker, swivel bait technique by far has worked the best for me. I usually is one red and one green floating fake eggs but this seems to work just as well. I've had days when everyone around me is getting skunked and I have caught 10 at least.
Thanks for the video, I mainly fish in rivers, but this was a nice lake fishing one. thanks for posting.
This guy: Lest see how long it takes to get a bite, be rite back”
Fish: I’ll wait till the sun is almost down.
Brandon Park took longer then expected it was hot ass hell that day!
@@TimmyBangerz what temperature would you recommend? I find sundown is fairly productive. But would love to go fishing more often during the day time if it was worth it. I'm still fairly new to fishing
Ryan - Royal Star Realty Inc. your best time to fish is anytime before noon I find, thanks
Ryan - Royal Star Realty Inc. before noon and under 75 degrees
@@TimmyBangerz awesome thanks
I throw a handful of small gravel in then wait a second and Cast a little piece of brown leather on a small hook and a split shot and fill my bag limit in about 3 minutes. They hear the gravel hitting the water and there instinct is that’s it’s food from when they were in the hatchery.
Well I want to try this and see if it actually works
Might be considered chumming depending on your state's regulations. In my state it's a no-no.
Wow what a beautiful place dude. Thanks for the tips
Glad you liked it. tight lines!
great fishing vid. good explanation. unlike other trout fishing vids I've seen from other people were it has 11min of talking and only 1 min of fishing. GOOD JOB
awesome video. I needed some advice on trout. this was perfect. thank you.
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!!
@@TimmyBangerz how long did it take to get that bite
That’s exactly the way my son and I do it and caught over 50 on youth day one year. He loved it
That's awesome, fish on!
I love trout fishing keep up the great work my man 🤙
Thank you for stating the month of the year. Very professional
Great video. Just discovered water bobbers as weights. (Clear plastic bobbers you can fill with water)..you fill them with water and they go much farther than weights and without losing your bait. Especially in spring and summer when the trout are deep you can cast it with a super tiny treble hook (18) and power bait. Best rig ever.
Really? That sounds awesome thanks!
Beautiful lake and some nice fish . i love trout fishing .
That's a lot of stuff for bait. I guess you can't argue with results. Gotta try this tomorrow!
Good luck! Hope you catch some bangerz!!!
Love your videos bro! That was a serious bait "And I'm not done yet'" lol keep it up
Thanks man I'm glad you liked it!
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!
subscribe cause there's always more!
Awesome video. I would love to travel there and go fishing one-day.
Great vid from start to finish well done keep up the good work on your vids
You are a very experienced angler and you know your stuff. Hats off to you. You are by far my favorite trout angler!!! :)
Thank you so much for the the kind words, more videos to come. CHEERS!
Rock on!!!!!
Nice video! Just starting to think about trying for trout for first time!
Seeing the colors on that trout made me smile. I'm getting into fishing, Actually got my license this past Sunday and I cant wait till this coming Saturday to see what I can catch!
I’ve fished in my local spot for years and never caught not one fish. Just went today and brought in 10 catfish.
If you don’t really know what you’re doing, it’s mostly luck.
@@thomasflores7817 I wouldn't place it on luck necessarily, maybe 20% luck, 60% timing and 20% knowledge. I feel like luck is a part of it but not the determining factor of catching a fish. If you go out at the wrong time of day you drastically lower your chances to catch anything and if you don't know what baits to use or where to cast you end up catching more vegetation than anything haha. I am not a pro, I have been fishing in the past but never really cared to fish. Now I have an interest and want to learn it well enough to be confident in catching a fish. I have basic knowledge and basic ideas of whats to be done but I've never had a fish on a hook so I can't really say anything for certain. But i don't think fishing is based off luck personally. Luck plays a role for sure but there's much more to it I believe
@@thomasflores7817 Haha I'm not even an amateur at this point :'D I just want to believe it takes more than luck because that's something I lack lol
@@sprezzafried4439 lmao
Hey Bud, that was a nice vid. I really enjoyed watching it. Thanks.
Thanks, Subscribe cause I'm gonna put a new video up everyday!!! Cheers!
One of the absolute best baits for those small trouts are corn. You should try it out!
Just went today and caught 4 on powerbait. Dad caught 2. And 2 of mine were a really nice size. Not huge, just really nice. Skipped class for it
Great video, good advice, well done.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! Tight lines!
Good fishing video. It was helpful.
Good video ... thanks for the info !

Nice short informative video. Thank you
Hey thanks for the tips I'm going for the first time this week.. I fish alot never for stocked lake trout though.. I'm gonna give your method a shot..
Good luck bro!
Great video man and awsome ink work one of my favorite artists
DRT oh yea thanks man my fav too cheers
Awesome video!
Got to love good ole powerbait, been using it every year for about 14 years. Caught me thousands of fish in over 8 different species. It's pretty hard to beat.
I've been avoiding Powerbait in favor of natural bait (worms & bugs). But I think I'm about ready to give in.
Come on over to the dark side, you may limit out more often and catch bigger fish! Haha.
Good one. I'll let you know when I cave.
i caught a 7.89 ilber on homade muffins ice fishing screw powerbait
Haha, nice catch on muffins.
Nice one bud. Thanks 👍
Good vid, my man.
“But I’m not done yet” let’s goo my guy
Great video.
Thank you tight lines!
Thanks for the help bud! I go fishing around 2-3 times a week for an hour to 3 hours and I've only caught a walleye and Crawfish my entire life so it's safe to say I'm a shitty angler but your Video helped me to catch two trout so thank you!
Wow thank you, Glad the video helped you!!
I wish to had that many occasions to fish. I'm bad fishermen too, but I do enjoy sitting on the bank on nice day.
An hour to three hours is not much time to fish. Try to wake up before its light and fish until noon and you should catch within a week.
I’d rather catch a walleye 😂
I live in Republic and fished this lake plenty of times. Pretty dope to see it on youtube with 900k viees.
Glad to see local people here! Cheers.
Just got some trout with the Carolina rig, very efficient.
Hell yeah!
I have been using the slack in the line for visual bites for years. I have found that using a bobber to weight down the line is not a good idea. Why? Because when you let it sit for a while they can get twisted on the line, and if you jirk up on the pole with fish on it can snap the line and break it. Solution: I use large colored papper clips. Open the clip put it on the line, you get the same results. You may have to put a few clips on for weight if it'breezy, but they won't snag your line. You won't have to remove them they will fly off when you jirk the pole up, so bring a good supply of them along.
This is an awesome video - simplifies setup for trout fishing more than any other video I've seen (I'm a noob, so all the conflicting advice on UA-cam gets to be a problem)
Thanks so much! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll help you the best I can! Cheers!
Thanks buddy! Much appreciated!
Yay 900th subscriber! How did you do you knot around the bead? That seems like an excellent setup to have sit while I run my vibrex.
very helpful! fits the circumstances i fish in
Thanks, glad to help!
What hook do you use? I use a treble hook but it looks like you use a regular J looking hook (lack of better word)
Nice release thanks great job.
I cant wait till its cools down so I can get back to fishing, its been so freaking hot in the midwest that the heat is just the small problem, the flies are a mother sucka lol. Nice lake
Glad your not shy about your fishing location and give good advice on catch and release. Not like Colorado G.M. dummies...
Thanks for the tips
That would be a nice place to have a trout lunch at.
oh yeah, and I have in another one of my videos!
I love your videos I am going to subscribe
Perfect setup....great tutorial!
With fluoro, I agree you can use four, but I have always used 2, and think you get more hits. Still, 4, being that it is fluoro is probably a better choice
hey Timmy Bangerz if u want to fish for trout powerbait is not good for the fish it tends to
gut hook the fish and your smart to wet your hands nicee vid it helped
i seen the bait in stores and everytime i see that i think in my head... where is the bait? i seem to have wandered to the sandwich spread isle.
Pocket 16 I seen dat
Can I use any bobber, or do I need a certain one?
Nice Manson tats dude!
Right on man!
Pure Fishing must love this guy, Powerbait. he said he was using a shimano rod but the tip looked like a ugly stick, Shakespeare. fishing line , Trilene XL? Anyway good job,
This is the kind of video I like, no fifteen minute story time before the real video. Good job again.
Nice fish brother
Hey with the 10 inch bait holder hook, the power bait still floats?
Hi, thanks for this video. My challenge seems to be leader length. Would you say always no more than 24 in unless there's tall grass? Sometimes I've done 36 in just cause I don't know what's on the bottom
yea if there is tall gas its always best to go longer you deff wanna be above the grass.
I bought all the materials used in the video and will be using the same technique to hopefully catch some trout. I will be fishing in mammoth lakes California.
I hope you catch some bangerz! Cheers!
Hey Timmy, just wondering what bait to use for Rainbow Trout in lakes?
I love the way you handle the fish to look out for him after relese
But u didnt tell us what time
6 mins sorry
Thank you
Nice wet-handed release!!
Awesome Video. 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Timmy Bangerz Love the detailed recommendation. Thanks Pal.
Im a super noob and had my first opportunity to catch my first trout today and wow..lol totally different from Bass. I casted a rooster taill and soon as i started retrieving the mf i saw mr trout and was in the line of what i thought was a sure hit because....dood im used to bass and their behavior so soon as it dodged the lure like a matador i was shocked (pretty funny though). Anyways this video helped alot and now i have a good idea on what to do. Appreciate you brother
Thanks for the tips, can you do a powerbait ice fishing rig at the same lake?
Glad you liked the video! this lake never really freezes enough to ice fish, but that is something I've been looking into at other lakes.
Good explanation of your gear
This is just a guess, but, between the rod, reel, line, bait, bait add-ons, and bobber at the end that it comes out to about twenty dollars per fish. Is that close?
Works just fine I caught a 14 inches in Albany Oregon at timberline lake
Nice video!
The cheesy powerbait works great in Cal too.
Nice tips for grassy lakes
that water is so clear 😂
So mono line with a flouro leader, but flouro is a sinking line and mono is a floating. Shouldn’t it be backwards to float the bait up?
floating bait is not a must but can work better. depending on the lake.
thnks for the info i never knew that..
Glad you liked it! Tight lines!
Great video
THAT WAS COOL.
Perfect. Thank you
Robert Castillo glad you like it
In fishing season, I eat only garlic and onions. Spit on the worm and it works like a charm !
can you please tell the products used on spicing the bait??
Brother, your about 20 yards from where my favorite spot is!!!
Interesting use of the bobber. I've never seen it used that way. Thanks for the video. You handled that release well, tight lines!
On stocked trout you can go to the store and buy hatchery trout food! Its sold as bait and works good. You can also use the powerbait balls trout love them!
Yep they sure do!
Can you use this setup at night time?
For stocked trout, try this setup if it's legal for you to do so. Thaw a bag of frozen corn and throw a third or half of it in the area you intend to fish. Then take a split shot and place it 12-18 inches away from your hook. Place a marshmallow on your hook, followed up by corn until your hook is totally concealed. Lastly, leave your line slacked and wait for it to straighten out and 🎣! A old man taught me this while he was catching fish after fish and I was catching nothing on nightcrawlers. Stocked trout are fed grain and I've caught rainbows on this setup like they were bluegill. Happy fishing.
Yea I know all the ways. This is a power bait video for the kids and new anglers. Cheers!
the best bait is ballooned night crawlers held down with a tiny split shot and tight lined.
Yes been a wile! I need a new blower to pump up my crawlers lol cheers!
Master...👍👍👍
Thanks for the video man! Question, what is the purpose of the leader line? Why not just put an egg sinker and split shot several inches above your hook? Wouldn't that achieve the same result without the extra effort of tying a swivel and leader line on? Thanks in advance for the info!
So the line is able to pass through the slip weight so you can see the bite without the fish having to move the weight
Rainbow color powerboat works well also.
