    Looking great, I like your Petty Blue, that color is hard to get pre-mixed, nice if you could market this color with your paints. Cheers.

    Love the bigger air brush you used at start is that like a modelling airbrush its very cool paints well u done awsome job👍 quick question i have this kit ok and you know side body extra over fenders comes in box but rivets detail is on inside rather than the outside do ye have to use them or am i right by thinking they ware molded wrong way round cause the issues of trying to mock them up the dont seem to line up or look right? Thanks in advance, 👍Keith

    Great work as always, but I couldn't help rock'n out t the tunes in the background too :)
    I think you'll be fine on this audio with the fan in the background muffling out the music, this should make it harder for the Copyright Bots to identify this.
    Can't wait to see this completed.

    Boyd, watch that radio in the background, m'man! You lost the audio to one vid for a copyright strike...I'd hate for you to lose your whole channel to that and it can happen!
    Anyway, love the car, Petty's my fave driver...always has been always will be. Loving the paint job and can't wait to see more! :)

    thanks for the great vids!! As usual, you do fantastic work!
    Did you do all the painting in Part 1, on the same day? How long did you wait before you applied tape? I'm also amazed you put decals on that fresh paint. Is that oil based enamels you are using? Thanks again!

    How did you do the pinstriping between the red and blue on the body?

  • @matteobechis9790

    How di You masked in auch amazing way? Could you give me some hints on how to correctly do the bends in masks? And how to do the gray link dividing red and blue? Many thanks

    • @TrekWorks
      @TrekWorks  6 років тому

      To do the curves I used thin flexible vinyl masking tape made by Tamiya. 3M also makes it. The tape I used was about 1'16th of an inch wide. It will make bends and curves without lifting up or wrinkling. Then I just mask up to the edges of that tape with regular blue painters tape in the appropriate size. I did the pinstripe color in between the red and blue by spraying the general area of that color first and then masked over it with the vinyl tape in the same width I wanted the line to be. Then I masked off the blue and red areas up to the edge of the pin stripe line and painted them separately one after the other. When done and you pull off the masks and the tape you have two colors with the dividing line in between. This will leave raised edges in the paint where it was masked so a light wet sanding with very fine grit paper 1500, was done. Then I applied all the decals and sealed it with regular automotive clear coat for a nice smooth and glossy finish. Hope that helps you out.

    I wonder how hard he kicked himself when he realized the front valance and part of the rear bumper is body color but cant be added till the body and chassis are together.

    • @TrekWorks
      @TrekWorks  3 роки тому

      As I recall it wasn't a problem. The front of the chassis will slide into the body with the valance in place. Then I glued on the rear valance afterword. A lot of model car kit's go together that way.

    As a pro-painter; I really do NOT understand the order of the colours you paint. Normally You ALLWAYS start with the lightest colour and end up with the darkest. This means first You prime the body in light gray and after inspecting the body for imperfections, you paint the whole body white. Followed by Dayglow Red all over the body. Then ONE layer of clear varnish on the matte dayglow red. Then masking off, followed by the Petty-Blue. And after at least 24 hours, you give the entire body 2-3 layers of clear varnish. And if You find it necessary polish it with automotive polish. This should give a perfect result.

    • @kepler240
      @kepler240 3 роки тому

      yeah, I don't get it either. Why paint red over the blue anyway? you can tell it ruined the red color

  • @rayaaron476
    @rayaaron476 Рік тому

    How did you paint the pinstrips?

    • @TrekWorks
      @TrekWorks  Рік тому +1

      The white was painted first and then covered with thin vinyl masking tape before the blue and red was sprayed on.
