This seems like a disaster waiting to happen - fractional ownership of C&I solar projects to HNI investors with a promise of return. Back in Feb 2024, Growpital (same business model in the agriculture sector) came under SEBIs radar, was forced to shut down business, and all investors lost money. This seems like a twist on the Arcadia model, which has an important role to play, but not with this approach.
As long as one don't invest on an appreciating asset its not a viable investment option. Solar farms are depreciating asset due to their fixed lifetime. Due to this i cannot trade my ownership of this to another investor at a higher price than i bought.. If you offer the ownership on the land on which the solar farm additionally then you have an appreciating asset in the mix which makes it possible for retail investors to sell their ownership at a higher cost to some other investor and make a profit !!

@@MohanRajKumar It is compatible with BESCOM, and works across other regions in Karnataka as well. The initial reservation depends on your power bill and how much you would like to offset. (For ₹500 you could get 10 watts and offset ₹6.5 monthly. Conversely, you could reserve 1 kW for ₹49k to offset ₹600 monthly for the tenure of the project)
Great idea by the way. Two questions. 1. Instead of going through a PPA with the solar developer on my commercial rooftop where I pay Rs. x/unit throughout the PPA period why wouldn't I go for a direct bank loan? 2. For a 3kW system, a customer is paying around Rs.55,000 which would amount to Rs.165,000 with Sundaygrids whereas a 3kW system actual system after subsidy would cost only around Rs. 1,00,000. SundayGrids seems expensive right?
All formats of grid-tied solar essentially operates the same. When you install panels (by investing in the hardware) on own rooftop, via ‘net metering’ that power gets dispatched to the grid and gets used by active loads in proximity, for which the grid discounts on your power bill at a unit-level accounting. With Digital Community Solar, you get discounting at a ‘net-billing’ level, and unlike a grid architecture, where there is multiple active loads points, we streamline to a single-offtaker. As mentioned in the video, C&I is the segment where we opt to deploy solar capacity, as tariff arbitrage and demand is considerably higher than residential rooftops. Projects are onboarded after they are installed and commissioned, and the plant ownership belongs with the solar operator, not the C&I customer. Hope this helps!
It still does not answer if the platform that collects funds through wallets should be registered as a Collective Investment Scheme and regulated by SEBI. Is Sundaygrid in compliance. Please mention same on website .
Thanks for Excellent clarification/explanation of Gross/Net/Virtual metering in Grid Connected Solar for getting Solar Power . Now virtual metering is good option get solar power for those consumers ( Domestic/commercial) who are not having shadows free roof space in their rooftops. Most of states regulations allows/permits for the same.
How this will be practical when many states are implementing VNM for apartments ? I am also not able to understand logic of paying 5 to 6 rs/- per units after making an investment of 55k per kw. Many developers are just waiting for implementing solar roof top for individual users after Vertual Netmetering guidelines come in. Apart from VNM Group net metering also going to happen shortly. We need to wait and watch the success of this initiative.

I get it, but most families can make way with a 2KW plant, and will receive a 60k incentive from the Governments. Do you pass on any kind of incentives for the same as well?
Yesterday i saw nithin say power transformation is a sector he is checking out on. And today i get this in my recommendations how are you hacking my recommendations.😂
instead of placing it our home top, they are placing it in other places. ? tell me what government electricity then ? the main advantage of solar isgenerating electricity very locally bypassing the transmission. i thought a technology is invented to tackle space needed. !
It's a financial innovation, not a technical one. They install solar on commercial spaces and supply power to them at the same site at a price slight lower than commercial price charges by the grid. They pass on those earnings to the investors (residential customers). Since commercial establishments pay higer electricity rates, it makes sense to sell to them. For eample if commercial users pay 10 per unit and residential users pay 5 per unit and if cost of production (over lifetime of solar) is 4 per unit. Then residential users will save just 1 per unit whereas commercial users will save 6 per unit. These guys sell it at 9 (lower than grid rate) to commercial. They still make 5 rupees in the process which is passed on to the investors after taking their cut.
They need to simplify their pitch - its a money in money out scheme not a money in energy out scheme. The solar story is an unnessary detour and confuses the customer about the actual value proposition. The idea may be good but these guys have built a very bad pitch for the customer. Pitching it as a investment that yeilds dividends will make it easier to understand and make it comparable to other financial instruments. The fact that they don't do that makes me think that the returns are poor compared to other instruments.

Good Though to bring Solar energy available for the apartment dwellers... But gross metering concept for the investors will always put the DISCOM in advantage rather than the investor, since the credit is on monetary and the tariff increase risk is passed on to the investor ... Need more information on the Power purchase agreements where it will give more confidence for the retail investors to enter into this and how they can be protected in case of defaulting by power integrator or C&I firm where the Solar plant is installed @Sundaygrids

To stop coal plants is not stopping growth. Is simply stopping inefficient and obsolete technologies

How to invest in Sunday grids
This is great marketing. But isnt this just a glorified loan platform where retail investors are investing for solar installation for C&I customers?

cant we get money directly in accounts instead of credits
it is like fractional real estate investments small ticket sizes and fixed monthly income

Menas i am credited unit or amount ??
This is like a bank FD at 8.25% If you have monthly bill of 2500 and deposit 2 lakhs as the price you get savings of 4.5 lakhs after 15 years.
