Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know I uploaded a breakdown and walk-through of the dry box in case anyone wants to take a look! I appreciate the support
Put up link please
Just wanted to thank you for this video. I built one using the same box and lifters, but simplified it a bit. I also used a RAM ball mount on the inside of the lid, so I can tilt out the screen a bit. Instead of a switch panel, I just used a toggle switch to turn off the blackbox, and went with the larger 32 ah 14.5V battery. Your video was super helpful!
Awesome! I’m glad it was helpful man!
Nice video man! Looking forward your upcoming content.
Thanks for the support! New video coming out tonight!
Yes detail version please, can't see live wire to pole comes out of box.
i'd love to see how you wire the switches to the black box. looking to build something similar. just got my 93sv and lvs34 in so trying to figure that out instead of a bog.
What size are those elevator bolts? And what bolt size did you use to hold up the top bracket?
Cleanest portable box on UA-cam I’ve seen. Are you going to post a build video, especially the electrical? Thanks again for a great idea….and your wife was right. Haha
Hahah yeah she usually is. Thanks man, I put a lot of time into it… appreciate the support! Totally wish I had done a built, don’t have any plans to do another one unless I can convince my brother in law to put one together. Happy to answer any questions I can about it though.
@@Reelmainefishing what terminal bar did you use?
@@thomasg678 I used WAGO terminal connectors with the hold downs you can buy for them
How long do you get out of milwaukee bat. Run time
I have questions on the internal measurement on the lid after the gas shocks were added. I have a 1042 head unit and it may not fit.
I'm watching you! LOL.
Very clean build, best one I've seen so far. Do you think there is room for 93sv (9" screen) version?
Thanks! I didn’t think that the 9 inch screen would fit but people in my other video are saying that they made even the 10in work
How long is the run time on the set up with the 18v? Also how are you charging it? Newby to the live sonar, so I have no idea how long to expect the black box and screen to last.
I haven’t tested it yet, but with how many amp hours the Garmin consumes I should get around 12 hours with a 12.0 M18 battery. I will update you as soon as I test it out!
I have quite the supply of M18 batteries - so I just bring extra out on weekend trips and use them ad needed. At home I charge them on a rapid charger.
Dumb question probably but is it one power cord that goes to both the black box and the head unit or do you need a head unit power cord and a black box power cord?
That is a great question! Both units (the black box and the screen) have a separate power cord.
Why the switch panel besides powering the light strip. Couldn’t you just wire the battery to a kill switch in the kill switch to the black box to power everything?
You totally can. I just bought the switch panel as a five gang and wired it up according to how I wanted it.
How did you wire the switches so the first one turns the power on. Do you switch the two + power wires on the first switch?
The board comes all prewired so I ran my inverter power through the first switch with the red wire and the black wire all ties together to the other black wires.
Do you need to add a fan? I heard some of these boxes getting hot if not fan is installed. Any advice?
I haven’t had an issue with it at all… when I’m out on the ice the box doesn’t overheat and when I’m out on the boat on 100° day, it still doesn’t overheat
How does the drill battery perform? and how long would you say it last?
It works awesome. My 12.0 lasts about 10 hours
CAN YOU PLEASE DO THIS IN A STEP BY STEP VIDEO 😊
Done!
Any issue with the Black box overheating?
Nope!
Is this the 30 qt or the 19 qt dry box
30 Quart
What LED light strip is that?
I’ll have to check to see what I bought. I’ll link it tomorrow if I can!
How long are the gas cylinders you ised
I’m not exactly sure but I linked them in the description
I know this was asked earlier but now that you have used it a few times. whats the life of it on that 18 am battery!!
I get 10 hours on a 12.0 battery
Any problem with the step down converter
None… this box hasn’t given me any issues at all
What size dry box?
30 quart. I left a link in the description. Thanks for watching!
Would a 9" screen fit on that setup?
You would have to shuffle some of the components around to make it happen… I think you could do it but it would be a tight fit!
@@Reelmainefishing where is the transducer wire hole located on your setup? Thanks!
@@BlackCobra331 I will take a photo of it tonight and post it here.
Just kidding. I can only add text. I am hoping to do a video going over a few more details on the box and I'll make sure to include it. It's located about 2/3 of the way up on the back of the box.
@Reelmainefishing ok awesome. Was thinking about coming out of the side somewhere, I'll look at it. Thanks for the reply
Does the transducer fit inside the box?
Love this concept you did a outstanding job very neat and compact!
it could but it would be hard to have the cord wrap back into the box without cutting a slot for it to go into.
@@Reelmainefishing, what do you do with it then?
@@michaelpauljones1 the cord when you buy it comes with a garmin bag. I just coil it up and put it in the bag with the transducer. They make covers for the ducer as well.
@@michaelpauljones1 it hangs outside of the box I’m the Garmin bag the unit came with
Will a garmin 93 fit inside
I don’t think it will
It might but I think it will hit the gas shocks
How is the build working out for you out on the ice?
@@Reelmainefishing do you have any photos closer up of the inside and how things are mounted and tied together? I have all the components bought now just need to put it all together. Thank you !
@@toddbrim1791 it is working really well. Even when the snowmobile trails are super rough it takes a beating in the tote sled and it holds up great.
What size is that box?
30 quart
