    I installed the 034 setup today. Thanks to your video along with their manual it was relatively easy! Only gripe is the routing of the hoses where it is pretty tight considering it touches other fittings and hoses in the engine bay.

    FYI at 10:50 that threaded thing on the bolt that goes in the engine mount is not for grounding, it's for the bracket that holds the big diesel filter housing in TDIs.

    The original PCV valve fails but has a purpose. By bypassing it with a flat plate who knows where you’ll be loosing pressure or creating it, it’ll run wild, you’ll have no control over it, it controls pressure, how does the cover plate do that? By adding a catch you are bypassing the intake - so no more pressure to create wear on the PCV.
    By deleting the PCV with essentially an aluminum cork you are likely to get oil leaks in other places you should watch out for. The 034 kit is expensive and looks nice but the APR kit is better and that’s the reason why. But please prove me wrong because it looks magnificent!

    hi mate. thanks for the vid - quick question, the stock PCV routes back to the intake manifold. for this oil catch can setup, one hose routes to the oil catch can, and the other hose routes back to the engine.. what does this 're-routed clean air' does? why does it not re-route back to the intake manifold?. it is afterall 'cleaned' air. just trying to understand the rationale .
    thanks in advance!

    • @13REDYELLOWBLUE
      @13REDYELLOWBLUE 4 роки тому

      you do need to bypass that intake because the pressure will wear the PCV - but you don’t need to run it back up to the crankcase because then it’s just leaking pressure, some designs go back up to the intake with the clean air. The kits with the Africa plate are unfortunately just hot garbage. The basic cause for wear is the hot crankcase vapours/cold intake air and pressure and temp changes wear out the rubber components of the PCV faster. Now that being said every Tom dick and Gary isn’t going to install a catch can because it is more maintenance - if that sludge goes back in it can lead to problems you really don’t want - has to be drained regularly, I do it every gas fill up so I don’t forget. Best solve I can suggest - Run an APR catch can, Boost Tap, New OEM PCV. Done. Even if your old PCV is intact, change it and keep it as a spare, the new one will no longer be under stress and likely won’t require replacing again - if it does you have a spare.

      I have the same question. It is true that if the catch cam fails, then the mess do not enter the intake. But, from where the catch cam realase the preassure from the oil vapors and ventilation? Where goes these “celan” air?

  • @dominickvilone7629
    @dominickvilone7629 3 роки тому

    just curious and maybe I'm a little wrong but isn't the pcv made to recirculate the gas back into the head for efficiency ? If so did you notice any loss in fuel efficiency ?

    1. Don’t reuse gaskets or o-rings. They’re super cheap and easy to get.
    2. Every bolt on your vehicle has a torque spec. If you plan on working on your own car, invest in a service manual and torque wrenches. Their is also generic torques specs depending on the bolt size I.E. 1/4-20. Which you can google.

      Oil catch cans remove the oil in your intake and prevents build up on your valves. It doesn't add any power but ensures you have cleaner air entering the engine during combustion.

      Okay, so this system catches the oil, BUT why does the oil get into the intake in the first place? why is this happening, because of the recyclelation? what is it good for when you get all your oil in your intake.. And does the oil catched in the can get back into the engine?

      A small amount of exhaust gas leaks past the piston rings into the crankcase, where the oil lives. It's worse on high boost or worn engines. Any engine I've ever seen vents this back into the intake side of the motor. It will contain little micro-droplets of oil. The catch can keeps the oil out of the motor thereby keeping valves etc clean. The oil in the can is discarded.

    Why dont u just connect a hose and let flow on one end since there is only one way out so let the oil flow out on the street

    This set up is wrong. The crankcase gases produced are fed back into the engine after they have been through the catch can. This set up will cause oil seal and gaskets to leak oil due to pressure build up.

      I mean it's all milled aluminum parts. Thats a pretty expensive process. The real benifit is to reduce carbon buildup. The TSI 2.0T is pretty notorious for it.

    keep it clean, but put in on the ground? why not get a new gasket? 600 bucks? wait to do the intake. this kit will not be totally effective and there'll be carbon everywhere regardless.
