Jurassic World Evolution 2 - 1 Year Later (The Re-Review)
ABOUT JURASSIC WORLD EVOLUTION 2
Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to Frontier’s highly successful Jurassic World Evolution, building upon the groundbreaking and immersive 2018 management simulation. It introduces a compelling, new narrative campaign, incredible new features, and awe-inspiring new dinosaurs brought to life with captivating authenticity. Together with expanded construction and more customisation options, the result is an even bigger, better and authentic Jurassic World game.
For Adventure! - Ігри
I did not expect this to be nearly an hour long but for those of you who are into that sort of thing, enjoy
I wonder if there'll be any updates for this 1 year anniversary such as more dinosaurs or decorations probably more skins because we need more vehicle skins what I mainly want is the spinoraptor, stegoceratops and the anklydocus I think that the Jurassic world dominion dlc should be free but like you don't need to buy it, its like already set on to the game as some people can't afford to pay for the dlc but mainly they just need to add Something!
me (after watching an over 3 hour long new Jenny Nicholson video) Count me in
I like it it is interesting ! :3
We want it 7 hours next time
Thanks for the present 🎁 I love it
My best experience with the JWE2 campaign was during that final Yosemite mission. One of the optional dinosaurs to bring in is an Albertosaurus with confirmed fatalities. When she arrives she actually has a phone in her stomach (which can happen if your dinosaurs eat the guests). She has to have this treated at your paleo medical facility. It immediately gave that Albertosaurus more character than the other dinosaurs in my park and I really wish the campaign did that more. Imagine if instead of just random “x amount of species y in location z”, each wild caught dinosaur has its own story. Many would have injuries or diseases, and just a little write up like “these troodons have been getting at a farmers goats and one animal was shot so you have to treat it” would immediately give the dinosaurs more character and make them feel like they’re part of the world!
Sigh, oh well. At least Sandbox still slaps and I actually enjoy challenge mode this time around! It’s been a fun year and I can’t wait to see what the next brings to the game!
Don't forget the Rabid Dilo pack lmao
I agree, Zoo Tycoon 2 did well with this with its missions. The animals required for certain missions felt like they had a story. The live capture events in the campaign had so much potential for world and narrative building.
That is one thing I really want JWE2 to expand upon with its updates, just adding more uniqueness and character to the various Dinosaurs. The scars being individually visible and randomness of skins already has a huge impact, but there’s still more that can be done to improve it. It is definitely leagues ahead of the first game in that regard though
Honestly the way I would have approached Chaos Theory would have been as a single level with multiple choices that lead to different events. For example when eventually building Jurassic Park you could have 2 routes with it either being a succesful park or going to heck like in the films, the latter route would start the The Lost World chaos theory level and so on depending of the choices the player takes, from wich species one chooses to how well you manage the park.
Yeah I'd have really liked that too. Something with a bit of replayability and a feeling of small decisions spiralling out of control, as it should be
@@BestInSlotGaming Yeah would have been a pretty fun approach
If these were added for lagoons, I'd be so happy:
-ambient and social behaviors for sea beasties
-make them swim through the entire water range, right now they spend 98% of their time in the top half of the lagoon (and also fix several of them, the latest patch broke them by elevating their positions when exiting the hatchery and at the surface)
-the underwater viewing platform from Telltale's game
-underwater tunnels for foot traffic/vehicles/both
-kelp forests, stone arches, and rock pillars decorations
I kinda wish the campaign from JWE could be played in JWE2, just imagine how much better it would be
Edit: Not the exact same campaign, because JWE has some stuff in it that cant really be translated to JWE2, but other than that... Yeah
I mean, I want to believe that before JWE2 stops getting updates we will get all missing content from JWE. Las 5 muertes, WU's hybrids, Claire's sanctuary, etc.
I m not asking for a Planet Zoo level of detailing (although I love it so much) but we are deeply in need for more decorations, buildings, attractions and terrain tools to customize our parks even more and finally make them look unique and interesting.
I still love the game a lot and love what Frontier are doing, especially the dinosaurs (they are so beautiful, I never get tired watching them) but I would lile to have more things to make the park in itself more interesting.
7:40 yes sir! Such a great line!
So upset we are a year in and I still don't have my spinoraptor back. My heart is still broken
I'd at least want the Pterosaurs to not *only* ever eat fish
41.35 it actually is all of the chaos theory maps got their own challanges
As someone who never played the first one and started with the sequel, I've had a very good time with this game. I think its simplicity, so to speak, in comparison to other games like Planet Zoo or even Prehistoric Kingdom, actually helps make it approachable to me as I struggled to fully comprehend the systems and mechanics those games offer (Even though I respect the hell out of those games and would readily recommend them). Having been raised on Operation Genesis, Evolution 2 is currently the strongest JP building experience one could have atm.
They are things I would like added, but honestly, if we got more attractions and decos like benches or bins, I would more or less shut up about my other gripes at least for a while lol.
I wish we had a dinosaur size customization one day
Hi idk if you'll see this but it's early on the video so just wanted to say you've been like one of my favorite people for absolutely forever and I love the videos you make!!!
It is a brilliant game, one I play every week if not more. Herding mechanics still need heavily improved and only the largest carnivores should even attempt to hunt the sauropods. I'd like to see more decorations using assets already in game like placeable (empty) jeeps and tour vehicles etc. Also how about adding The Five Deaths and other maps from JWE as they were beautiful, especially Nublar with Mount Sibo smoking away in the background
I agree about the Quetzalcoatlus, it needs walking animations, the pterosaurs in general need some sort of walking animation, but the Quetzal, in particular would benefit from it. Also, the Quetzal sleeping animation needs updating, I hate how the neck folds down on itself. The pterosaurs sort of have a walking animation when they exit the aviary hatchery, why not incorporate it into something they can do after they've been released.
Also, I feel as though the lagoon needs some large, tall decorations that almost reach the surface, for example a kelp forest, as shown at 1:10 in this vid. The decorations we have are somewhat short and the lagoons still look somewhat flat, although I like the smoke vents.
still waiting for that boat ride, you could have it's JW version be the cretaceous cruise, and it's Jp version look like jurassic park the ride. It'd be so cool!
15:43 oh dont you worry, Argentinosaurus will indeed be very tough 😉.
Unfortunately though, medium+ and large carnivores will still be able to take it down, because they leave a fatal bleed effect on sauropods and theres nothing we can do about it.
It was fun to revisit this and see how/if things have changed!
Gonna spend a while reading through the comments~
Hah, I saw this and immediately went to watch your old review before watching this one, should have listened to the start of this first! Great video though!
Yessah Bestinslot your a absolute legend man 🤙🐸
I feel they should lean into more Nature Reserve assets for the DFW with more Attractions for JP and JW with a little more emphasis on the canon in-film Attractions for each respectively.
Abandoned Variant Skins we can set Buildings and Fences to would change the game in a great way also.
Or if they got overgrown after being destroyed (putting flames out) or deactivated for too long that would be great also.
I'd love simple things like benches, bins to fill in empty areas on paths and also the ability to change colours on the umbrellas on the current tables and chairs
I think what evolution needs is more monetary constraints. In both of the games, it is so easy to get more money then you will spend in the park way to early on. In JPOG, it was always exciting getting more guests and more small purchases, because as your park rating went up, so did your money as more guests piled in. I feel that if money was more scarce for more of the game, effort into making good parks, and optimizing shops would be rewarded. As of right now though, a lot of money making systems feel unnecessary.
I remember when Frontier brought some influencers (including BestInSlot) to the first gameplay of Jurassic World: Evolution, back in April 2018. I pre-ordered that game and enjoyed every DLC. But the game clearly wasn’t as well thought as we all expected. There were some design problems and the engine wasn’t great either. The sequel clearly improved that. I think that JW:E2 has the best dinosaur sandbox settings in the world. It may not be as customizable as Prehistoric Kingdom, but may I say the two games are two different philosophies. When I play Prehistoric Kingdom I can’t imagine my creation as a theme park but more of a modern zoo. Jurassic World: Evolution 2 has that atmosphere of a fantasy. Though, there are some downsides compared to the first game: the campaign. Way too short. Became a little too repetitive and didn’t engage that much into the Dominion story. Yes the DLC did bring up a lot of stuff. But overall, the game is focused more on the Sandbox.
YET ! I have one major problem. In a game with more than 80 or whatever species, with giant lagoons and aviaries that need so much space, the possibility of adding so many new decorations, I think the maps are too small. I can’t wait for Extended Maps to be re-released.
In conclusion, it is a totally better game than it’s predecessor, but still not perfect.
Talking about maps why the hell is the biosyn map the only map that the game camera/capture mode can enter the thick forest/foliage, its one of the number things that bugs me they have shown they can make the camera work inside the thick plantage but why is it only working on biosyn map, I really wish they would allow it on all the maps making nice thick forests and viewing your creatures at the same time can be difficult because the camera just freaks out around thick trees, yeah I know its a small thing and there is bigger changes the game should get but for me this is a big one I really should be able to take my camera thro my forests and thick plant growth so many great screenshots have been taken on biosyn because the camera works better on that one map, this just really bugs me that they could do it and they just don't
I know what you mean if I remember that wasn't even a problem on the first game could use capture mode in deep forest.
This game needs alot IMO all terrain paints and plants trees and so on on every map would go along way WAY more decorations diff fences
Poor Australovenator, its hunting animation was so beloved when it came out and then it was completely forgotten.
In my honest opinion I still think the game lacks a lot. They aren’t really adding anything new in terms of gameplay or features. Instead they’re adding stuff to the already existing options in the game, but not exactly what we want. The campaign and chaos theorys are still pretty bad too.
Yes I have played chaos theory many times. It is my favourite mode.
I remember launch JPCT. I had to save scum some just because of how easy it was to have one bad thing completely destroy your run.
If the JP3 Chaos theory was just a glorified photo safari I would have been absolutely Ok with that. Even better, imagine if you could actually die if the Jeep is destroyed. On top of that, imagine if they didn’t mark the Dinos on the map so you had to look for photo targets and explore, imagine if they included the worker village/embryonic administration as structures on the map like the amphitheater. JPOGs mission mode managed to do a lot with the Jeep/Helicopter missions I always felt. At least it felt like a lot.
You should go back into your Australian Planet Zoo and add in the platypus and wombat I think that would be really cool and maybe for the platypus, you could incorporate them into the flooded lab because they look like they were made in a lab.
BestInSloth will you do a challenge mode series in JWE2 someday?
I hope they add something like a savanna map in Africa or something I just think it would be cool for another new biome
Regarding the CT modes; I played them until I got 5 stars, achievements, and the sandbox map version unlocked. Even kept my original CT saves lol but I'll be damned if i make a tutorial for them lmao.
honestly I thought Austrolovenator's kill animations were very unique and cool and that Frontier did a great job, he stabs a goat to death with his claw what more could you ask for lol
what were the skins used for the spino on the thumbnail?
The scientist system… I feel if scientists had abilities that could be upgraded/unlocked would have helped. Sure you can give them stats but it would have been cool if there was a series of specials abilities they can a tier tree and as the scientist grows in skill they gain abilities and you can follow the tier tree. Like you need to make choices on how you want your scientist to grow and there are pros and cons to different routes.
As for service level… yeah… there are the random events that can impede in construction. On is “there is a dinosaur in the building” imagine if when that event goes off you it triggers and dino to spawn by the building you can capture.
Ironically this video came out around the time I was debating playing the game again
41:30 yes, there is actually
Please do another review next year for the 2nd anniversary
Great video! Thanks for posting this BestinSlot.
I know exactly what I want to see;
The ability to visit other people's parks. Real world tourists instead of NPCs. The more people who visit, the higher on the suggested list you go. Use money earned ingame to purchase your ticket and food which is passed on to the park owner.
The option to allow real world players to take over AI features like ranger or medic, in exchange for a wage. Would make running a large park easier and more fun.
Thoughts?
Gonna be honest, I have more fun modding than playing, only really have fun playing when Im doing something very specific like a custom challenge map on sandbox, the gameplay loop is just pretty poor on my opinion. Went back to playing Zoo Tycoon 2 recently and it felt pretty damn fresh, has such a more fun gameplay loop in comparison to most modern zoo/park builders, sure it has aged in some sections but the gameplay itself feels pretty refreshing
Also they totally messed their approach to chaos theory, could have been the most fun mode to play but nah, I havent even tried to complete the remaining 3 levels
One last complaint, the dino sizes still suck lol
when the 2nd anniversary comes you must re-re-review this video
I want Concavinator for free as part of the anniversary
I give it a solid 7 until it’s more rounded out with Attractions, decorations and dino mechanics.
Fun fact: JWE 2 was my bday present bc my bday is on nov 6 and it was on of the best bday presents i ever got
Thats awesome bro! I hope you had lots of fun with the game :D!
@@niksonrex88 ty
I rated Jwe 2 at release 5 I thought the game didn’t warrant the 2 title, I like It a lot better now but still missing some major things and the fact that graphics and terrain tools wasn’t Improved from the first game holds It back from any great score. 7/10
I would say that your issue with the minute to minute gameplay maybe more to do with playing mainly sandbox. I recently (finally) completed Jurassic challenge mode to get the trophy and really enjoyed it. But thats my opinion not having a go🤣
Feels longer than a year
9:00- No, I’ve never replayed any of the modes
Got this a month after release and I’m only on the second chaos theory
Jurassic world evolution 2 is a good game for people who love Jurassic world and dinosaurs
Hey
Do you think you'll do an update to this when the game finishes it's development cycle???
As the game is even better after 2 years
Still no site B mode 😭
I would say the first game definitely has a better campaign. Campaign mode in this game just felt like a long tedious tutorial to grind through until you get to the DLC
My biggest issue overall with this game is that one year later there are still a bunch of bugs and the game is just poorly optimized for consoles overall. I've played it on a base Xbox one, Xbox One x, and now on Xbox series X and the game still eventually has issues with screen tearing and juddering when you have a busy park. Never mind persistent glitches like dinosaurs warping through enclosures or dead animals in the aviary never being removed etc
I also still don't understand they bothered unlocking everything for sandbox except for the maps
I love a lot of this game, but it just did not captivate me the way the first one did. For every single thing I think it did better it did one or two things worse
Anyway, I would still give this game an 8. Which is kind of where I would have left my final score on the original game.
They both have a lot of flaws, but that didn't stop the original game from eating up well over 100 hours of game time for me
And I'm not putting down the new one overall anytime soon, I'm going to play it until there's a third one
I just have far less time to play games compared to when the original came out 😭
What happened to the discord?
I still haven't purchased this game yet because it still doesn't feel like a complete game yet, but it's getting there.
I think it should be possible to pack hunt the large sauropods, but it should require way more than just 4 raptors. Maybe 20?
I still wish I could play this game but frontier refuses to fix the Xbox one crashes still
Idk why but this game doesn’t feel the same to me as the first game did even tho it’s better made the first one was just better to me but then again I’ve gotten older since then so idk
sadly having to unlock everythings kills this for me i would rather have just had a planet dinosaur style game with an open sandbox.
One of the updates did just that, it gave everyone access to all the dinosaurs
@@DragonDino2122 wait when I have not played in a little while
@@Urunian I think it was either this spring or summer
U need to do a re-re-review
The no man sky update ways its awesome in itself, but it do not justifies realise unfinished product as an finish product and charce fully prize for it.
With that said, this game like the first one and plenty of other are perfect example's proof that its Completaly wrong too only reviews games based on their launch status '
I agree with your statement. But especially regarding NMS it was more a problem of indie ppl getting AAA treatment without proper help than just plopping out an unfinished game "just like that". Glad they stuck to it and still update it regularily (and for free afaik).
Although, the game not "just" went better over time. Each of those things that made the game better were mostly paywall dlc's.
Now, is playing a (now) good game worth, like, 150€? Hmm a bit much, imo. But since there are often sales, this gets mitigated.
For example, rn you can buy all of the game for basically a normal full AAA game price tag.

Sean Murray '
Had to lie '
Because the truth is, if he had been honest about No Man Sky before it was realised he won't get the resources- money needed to makes No Man Sky what it is today.
Every update all free '
He could had taken all the money and vanish '
Sean Murray did go from must lier scam to do exactly what A game developer who care do.
Think they'll be adding anything new for free on the 9th, seeing as Planet Zoo's been adding new animals for free whenever it's that game's anniversary?
I hope so, we did get one dinosaur for JWE1's anniversary
@@BestInSlotGaming If they are gonna add a new dino, what dino do you think they'll, my guess is Deinocheirus since it's a highly requested animal
I say we will get tarbosaurus
I’ll asume that tomorrow or later this week we’ll get something related to the anniversary. Hopefully a free dinosaur and cool update
Edit: Ok so today we haven’t got anything so hopefully on the 9th as you said
i hope its that allo
👍
who is the new bestensloth and who is the old one
The one where the voice is louder and clearer is the new one. There is written modern commentary when he is talking.
I think some dinosaurs are in need of a rework. There are a number that feel unusable due to texture/model quality: charcharadontosaurus, albertosaurus, deinonychus are most notable. Also the carnivore running animations look a little silly with the extremely wobbly tails ( especially megalosaurus)
Can the herbivores feed themselves by grazing?
I think JWE2 is a good game, hampered by it's flaws. In many ways, the developers are on the right track, but stop before reaching the finish line. It feels lacking (but fixable).
My biggest issues:
1. Bugs. It seems to me, that Frontier just can't get this under control. 1 step forward and 2 steps back. The game was buggy from day 0 and some of these issues are STILL in the game. Even worse, every big update introduced a new issue. With the Dominion DLC, the old XBOX started to hard crash and shut down and the newest update broke the helicopters. Yay! Let's not talk about the minor bugs that came out of nowhere.
2. The unfinished and soulless Lagoons. Just compare the land based enclosures to the lagoons. The stark contrast is baffling. The lack of environmental needs, different feeding habits and animation sets is so painfully obvious. Frontier did such a great job with the land based creatures and enclosure designs...
3. Combat. Since the first game and the introduction of the Ankylodocus, people asked for Sauropods that can fight back. What did Frontier do? Let's make it worse, let's turn them into punching bags... Pack hunting is still not great and can look quite weird. I wish, the pack hunting kill animation was completely scripted. Give herbivores the chance to defend themself against pack hunters. Pack defending?
4. The addition of new species, but robbing them of their unique features. If you want to add the Quetzalcoatlus to the game, it needs to be able to walk. Otherwise it just feels lacking, disapponting or lazy. Take your pick.
5. New mechanic != Better mechanic. Just to name one thing, the scientists. If a new feature is not fun and exists only, to hold players back... Is it worth adding in that form? The instant call for an option to disable scientist in sandbox mode, was quite telling. Scientists could be so much better.
6. Replayability. No complete campaign. The one and done extra modes. Till now, we got no dlc, that changed the game in a really meaningfull way. As a comparison, the Dr. Wu dlc offered so many new options to design you enclosures.
TLDR: A 5/10 in it's current state. The game could be so much better and i am not that forgiving. Atleast fix points 1 to 4 and i am a much happier camper.
It’s not been 1 year has it
One year later this still crashes my Xbox Series X and this has been an issue since launch.
Same I lost so much thanks to it
My pc has been crashing since update three, and i've done everything to try to fix it. God I hope they fix the crashing
i like the jwe1 campaign better cause its longer. Jwe2 is better overall but i think it was easier to make dinos fight with the max combat option in sandbox. It was easier to understand dino stats. Sauropods have always been weak, they need a serious buff it would be funny to watch raptors try to hunt it and get squished or something.
I couldn’t get halfway through without getting bored. BIS, I like that you did a re-review but nearly a hour long…nope. If you do this again next year, shorten it. Evo put out a similar video and it’s way more digestible.
Didn't you read the pinned comment it isn't meant for everybody but if you like the in depth reviews but if it's just covering the game then really in depth thinking then 👍
malta pack
the story campaign are just tutorials
Poh
Jwe2 was coo but it pissed me off we need a remake of jpog or jwe3
Another jwe game makes no sense. Also this pretty much is a jpog remake
I like how the entire video is pure black
First!!!! Again.
Not first
This game was kinda good. I'm still waiting for the anime themed type dinosaurs DLC as well as The Adventures Of Anya & Quentin DLC expansion pack which would be a Quentin Forger skin for the Quetzalcoatlus as well as new dinosaurs including Bulbasaurus and Aerodactylus. (Yes, look up the dinosaurs. They're named after Pokemon.) And even would included Meraxes, a dinosaur named after the Game Of Thrones character.
Why would they include a DLC for an IP unrelated to Jurassic Park?
Because i wanna see if some dinosaurs would handle Quentin. And also, Meraxes would be the same size as the Carcharodontosaurus. Bulbasaurus would be the same size as the Homalocephale whilst the Aerodactylus would be the same size as the Dimorphodon
@@rogelioreyes79 stop chatting, just because it's in your head doesn't mean it's real. Jeez
Relax, i'm just waiting for the crossover event DLC featuring The Adventures of Anya & Quentin dinosaurs. And speaking of relax, there should be songs where you can relax and even listen to it underwater when it's muffled. The songs that Anya, Damian, Yor and Loid sang are these cause the anime is a musical.
