I received my 10 plants today, thank you, already unpackaged and under light with a moist temporary base until my larger terrarium arrives in 4 days time, going to be honest, the exception of one plant your plants are much healthier than others I have purchased elsewhere, so fingers crossed over the next few days they will be happy and look great when I am finished,, thanks Ladies

Ordered from you guys before, definitely plan to again. I’ve not only gotten my fiancé into bog gardening, but my mom and stepdad are wanting to as well now. Plan to add a sarracenia and sundew setup near my stepdads pondless waterfall in their new place. My mom likes the capensis and my stepdad likes the Scarlett belles and leucophylla. Maybe one day I’ll have my own nursery that also does installs ^_^ of course after I let the plants I got from you guys thrive and flower and spread over the next few years. Also noticing the lack of channels about carnivorous plants here on UA-cam. It’s actually started to get me to start doing my part and uploading some as well to help spread the word and educate people on these plants. So far they’ve helped a couple of my friends and family that have bought flytraps recently. They’re happy to see them thriving for once.

Love the sarracenia purpurea ssp purpurea that I got from you guys. You were the only shop I have ever seen have them in stock. They're a native but endangered plant in Michigan, glad to have them in my collection. Also ordered several bare root random sarracenia that I can't wait to see what they end up being. Very reasonable pricing and all have arrived healthy, would recommend California Carnivors to anyone. The only downside is they only offer USPS shipping, so I have to get them from the post office because the USPS doesn't deliver to my address due to its location. The shipping time on my most recent order was a bit longer than a week to ship, but since it was such a deal it's not really a sticking point for me.

@@California_Carnivores I consider it more a post office problem, given my location they have very limited hours because the population is small. So Saturdays are my only option for pick ups due to work. Just received several bare root sarracenia from you guys though, and I'm more than impressed, definitely the best value to rhizome size ratio. Can't wait to see what they are come spring. I won't let the postal issues deter me from making future orders

I'm expecting a Sarracenia and a sundew in a couple of days. This is a very helpful vid on unpacking the plants, thank you! The plan is to let them acclimate for a couple of weeks (North Bay to central AZ is a big climate change) and then transfer them to a bog planter. Looking forward to placing my next order!
Unfortunate that we lack the variety, competition and affordable prices here in Canada. Might be time to order and send it to a friend and drive across the border and secure a phytosanitary permit.
I ordered my first 3 plant bog, and my plants were not packaged like this. They were all wrapped in the same saran wrap. It came with a Scarlet belle pitcher plant, a Dionaea m, and a Drosera tokaiensis sundew. I feel like if mine had come like this, they would look better now. All of my Dionaea's turned black my Drosera tokaiensis sundew doesn't have any dew on it still, I have them in full sun the only one that still looks good is the Scarlet belle pitcher plant really wish they where packaged like these hopefully my next bog will.
We do pack the bog kits differently when they have plug tray plants. I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience! You can always reach out to us via our website and let us know when your plants arrive in bad condition: we want every customer to have a great experience!

Do you recommend any potting approach I should be mindful of? I heard I should make elevated mounds for the flytraps because they don't like it as moist as the other two species.
That’s so fun! Thank you for your order! We have done many group plantings and the biggest factor we see is thinking about the growth pattern of the tall plants, like Sarracenia, long term. You don’t want them to over grow and tower over the flytraps.

@@nancyrobinsjourney7843 I’d start with Sarracenia purpurea ssp purpurea if you’d like an outside plant. It is the cold hardiest of the the pitcher plants. You’ll need to mulch it in very heavily in winter but it’s quite tough!
My order from you were all wrapped in plastic with 3 per wrap and 6 taped in 1 cup. All are so small compared to what you're showing that we get. I hope the ones I bought make it.

I have a question 1.) Should we feed them manually at some point? as the domes are closed in their seedling stage to maintain humidity, leaving no access for any insects to get in. 2._Should we open the dome every couple of days for them to get new air? 3.) I have been told that boiled and then cooled water is fine for Sundews. Can anyone confirm this? 4.) How much water does a sundew need? 5.) I wish, I just thought. catching rainwater. ?
Boiling water will not work as you need water that has low minerals and salts; rain water, reverse osmosis or distilled water work best. Check out our videos all about growing carnivorous plants from seed to learn more about feeding and acclimation of seedlings! Sundews generally like to be very wet
They should acclimate well to the home environment and we grow our temperate plants outside so that reduces some of the shock for you when you’re acclimating them outside as well!
They can usually go right outside if they are not growing too many traps yet. If they have lots of traps you can slowly acclimate them to full sun over the course of a week

You can leave them potted in the pots we send for at a few years!
Do you guys fill the Nepenthes pitchers with any water ?
You can fill the pitchers with a bit of distilled water when you first unpack them. This will help the plants a lot!
What about acclimating them to your home or garden?
They should acclimate well to the home environment and we grow our temperate plants outside so that reduces some of the shock for you when you’re acclimating them outside as well!
All the plants I get say they are dormant. How do I go about acclimating a dormant flytrap when it’s spring here already?
