Ready bands are often cheaper, but seldomly precisely as one likes them. Your ways are the best investment including templates. Wise decision.

1.0mm band is way over what is needed even for heavy setups imo.
0.75 to 0.8mm thick band is the maximum needed imo with tapers between 28-18 and 25-20 matched to 10mm lead to maintain any type of comfort and accuracy whilst shooting. 28-18 being my preferred taper with heavy ammo.
For repetitive shooting there is no way to beat a lighter setup. More quality practice time = better form = better repeatable accuracy. Anyone who would argue that has never shot at competition level
I think the band/ammo arguments get silly sometimes. There are trade offs with everything in life, ammo and bands are no different.
    Good honest info. Good channel.

Yes, I just went from 23-17 to 25-15 for my 9.5mm ammo. However, slighted increased speed greatly hurts my accuracy. Maybe time to back to 23-17 and spend my time on increasing the accuracy!

I also love the extremely useful constictor knot, for many things. For slingshots, I've placed several constrictor knots on a wide diameter plastic drinking straw . When I'm ready to use them on the slingshot bands, I partially insert a band into the drinking straw, and slide off the knot onto the
band, and it's ready to use to bind with the folded over small portion of the band at the pouch. EZ-PZ.
    They call me "THWACK!"

Hi. I tie my pouches using the double turn constrictor knot for the simple reason that it gives a slightly wider grip on the band. It's more secure than the single turn and is less likely to cut into the band as you tighten it which can cause a weak spot I've found. To tie it, after you've made the x follow the line around again and then pass it over the standing part, under the two loops and up under the third loop at the top. This forms a cross under the overlaying wraps and is held in place much more securely. I think it also puts less stress on the band's as it's tightened and therefore less likely to roughen the band surface causing a potential weak spot. Like you, I do also singe the ends to seal it but I use Marlow whipping twine rather than 550 inner as it's a waxed thread which helps with weatherproofing. This is just my way and thought I'd share it with you as a thank you for all the help and tips you've given us all in all other aspects of the sport. Regards. Ralph.

I'm using Airflo micro poly backing and singe the ends to stop it fraying. I singe the ends of serving when working on my compound bow string so it kinda seemed the right thing to do! If I could think of a way to use my wrist release it would eliminate the need to pinch the pouch. My goal is defo accuracy - I hate missing! Great video Chris :)

Absolute legend mate a great video. I always tie my constricter knot but singe right up to the knot. Need to pick up a classic at some point from you pal. Love my titan hunter you kindly made for me. I find it most accurate and would not be without it. I use orange fish tackling cord, very true about fatigue in the fingers. Only shoot 8 or 7mm steel. GKJ mentioned that the way you hold the ball in the pouch is so important and of course he is spot on. I suffer from the bump on release.

I agree with your shooting Philosophy Chris. This winter has been nasty over here in Canada. I was speed testing bands in 3 feet of snow today. Lol I could not believe how much my accuracy has suffered from just shooting cans with clays off my deck. I need to put the clays down and start getting serious practice in again. I was struggling to hit a 40mm flipper today and I was hitting them 8 out of 10 before winter. Stay safe brother. I am going to check out on of those titans. They look sweet.

well I only had 30 lb dacron flyline backing but I just ran 100 shots through my very first set of bands made by me.. and the constrictor knot is awesome.. dacron can't be welded with a lighter so it's not singed n that had no effect at all either.. used 06 percise with 8mm steel 22 to 12 taper having only ever used .07 simpleshot bands n this shot way harder and the smaller double dimpled pouches all brought my accuracy n consistency way up from the jump!!! thank you for all the info.. between you n gamekeeper John im well on my way.. n i will own frames from both of you!!!!

I personally like to practice with quarter inch steel, you have to really get your release down perfect at that small size when I bump back up to 8 millimeter I find my accuracy to be improved because there's more to hold on to and to feel when I release. Re: Constrictor knots
I keep a few constrictor knots loosely on a fat straw. When I need then, I insert the pouch into the straw, and pull two constrictor knots off the straw onto the pouch. I remove the straw and put it aside. So now I've two constrictor knots ready to slide off each end the pouch onto the bands, and tighten them. Very efficient.
    THWACK!

Class vid as always Chris I myself use the constrictor knot on my pouch end and I use orvis fly line backing as its made from dacron and won't damage the band i melt the ends on it as I have done it using outher materials and found that if I didn't melt the ends the knot would either completely come undone on the draw or the band would slip over a few shots but at the same time I don't over tighten the knot as I find it increases wear on the band at the point the knot was tied

One day, perhaps because your shed ages or the screw rusts/fatigues or you snag it with something large that you're carrying, the axe head could fall. The screws at the other end of the shaft wouldn't hold it, but would let the head swing down.

    Great video.
Is there a link to buy that band tying jig? That thing is awesome. If someone could point me in the right direction to buy one of those jigs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hallo - the slingshot is looking different as the one I could see at proshot catapults - are there design changes? Is the sling in this video the TITAN???

    Hi
The band on my sling shot seems to tight/ridged. How can I soften it so it stretches more easily

How many bands do you break or wear out in a year of heavy shooting?

I don't singe the ends, but I tie mine exactly the way you do, and I pull the string from paracord as well.

@Catapult Carnage Thanks kindly for the video. What was the name or website of maker of the pouches you showed. I did like those grip holes and they looked sweet.

Most people do not understand what a heavy or big ammo is actually used for. It's mainly used with a narrow fork gypsy style frame. So when a gypsy is using his sling with solid squaresbands with his frame mainly a ashcup or to that shape he's not looking to aim at the head neck heart wing !!!! This is were 80% of these type of shooters from today's era have it so wrong!!!!!! It takes a good accurate shot to drop your game using the gypsy heavyset up style it's simply designed to hit his target on one specific area on his game, gypsys of today that shoot with them style catty ammo setups for bodyshots must like minced meat lol.good tuned in vid dude 👍u covered lots in that vid.

How do I order a paracord wrapped frame, titan? IN U.S.
No, don't burn ends, don't like using flame near bands. Also, I use cotton string. Also use a 3 wrap overhangs knot.

Can you not add a sprinkle of baking powder in the bags, to help with the bands not sticking to each other in storage? Or would this damage them?
I know they wont stick, but I dont know how to explain it.
