I like to use some vermiculite in my substrate as a water holding medium. Not to fully replace coco coir, but to supplement. it allows me to use less coco coir without sacrificing waterhold or cation exchange capacity.
Sphagnum moss petals with coco coir retains moisture well. You don’t have to buy the petals you can cut up sphagnum moss into tiny bits if you have the patience. I blend instead. After I pick out the sticks and stuff I toss it in my blender. Must use something sealed to prevent dust. Then I add it to coco coir with some worm castings. That’s my seed starter

🧡 I've been wanting to add vermiculite to my mixes, any brand you recommend?
@@AllureAndInk just make sure it’s chunky and not powdered. I don’t buy it online because I want to make sure it’s not a fine powder.
thank you. You are right there's not much about how to care for this mama.
🧡🧡🧡 it's been a great plant! Mine ended up having lower variegation, so I might need to chop and see what happens!
@@AllureAndInk hmmm good idea for a video content. can't wait.
Thank you for this info on this beautiful plant
🧡🧡🧡
Thank you for this video. I’ve had my Shake for a couple years now and learned several helpful tips from this video.
Oh that's awesome!! 🧡🧡 Thank you for watching!
I was able to get a box of mixed cuttings with a strawberry shake and red anderson along with 6 other rooted cuttings for $45
Yooo great bundle!! 🔥🔥 Been wanting a Red Anderson, but I haven't done too much research about it. But I've seen some amazing ones!
Yep. I love clear containers!!!
Game changer! Also super fun to see the root color! My purple velvet plant actually has some bright purple roots! 💜Makes it extra fun!

Love that! Never thought of blending Sphag to make it more like peat, clever! 🧡
Its the same care as 90% of any other philodendronmoss poles don't need to be moist unless you're keeping moss alive.

Felicidades

Where can I get a moss pole like that?
I actually made it myself. With a plastic mesh and a plastic kitchen/fridge liner haha they work really well for me and cheap!
Tree fern fiber instead of coco coir
✍🏼👀 that sounds interesting, only seen it for pets, not Tree Fern Fiber as a media! Will look into it!
@@AllureAndInk it works great. I got the idea from Kartel Duan and plant my anthuriums in it.
Exactly
