Facing The ATP World Number

  • Today I test myself against Billy Harris , who is currently ranked world number 282. Of course this is just a practice set and billy could only slice as he had a challenger coming up so don't take the result of the set as an indicator of the tennis level , but I hope nevertheless you enjoy!

    Even though Billy couldn't play at 100% this match really does indicate your growth as a player, you stayed mentally tough despite missing those opportunities at 5-3 and 5-4 and overall played a pretty high standard, keep grinding. 💪

      Djokovic is looking into this problem...In all honesty, i don’t see why people pursue this career in the first place.
      So much risk regarding injuries, as the game pleads for incredible overall endurance, fitness and luck in order to stay fit and healthy. Avoiding injuries is very hard and commanding.
      Aside from this huge issue, you need bunch of money in order to even consider pursuing going pro.
      So all in all, this game is very unforgiving and weird with how complicated the pro tour is.

      @@stfustfu7765 The ATP has released their safety net programme, designed to guarantee a certain income level for the top 200 IIRC. However, they’re also deleting a bunch of 250 tournaments from 2025 which is a step in the wrong direction…

      Because its fun. Theres no rush like playing a tennis match (or any sport) and hitting crazy shots and making it really physical. Tons of adrenaline and there just arent feelings like it. Sure, why not pursue another sport, but if you're good at something, then you're good at something. The unfortunate reality is that unless you're able to be in the small minority who get to play main draws at slams, you won't have a very fruitful career, and then what are you left with? Coaching skills? It's brutal but I totally understand why people pursue it@@stfustfu7765

    Maybe it's just me, but I thought your serve was better than Billy's? With him only hitting slice, he's limited, and the outcome would have been different, sure. But still, it was an interesting match. And you can maybe pick up on some other areas where you can improve too. I'm curious to know what YOU think of the matchup, and where you might want to change anything. I'd also be interested to hear what Ash might see in the match.

    There's still a lot of room for improvement until you can win an ATP 250 event considering this is a practice match you need to be more critical under pressure and at 5-2 40-0 you were too close to the net for the smash, but good effort and you got the W so well done

    I think Billy agreed to only slice as a handicap for Felix. I don't think he was saving it for the match, I think Felix is just saying that to save face. I would like to see Felix play him normal and if you lose, so be it. If you lose with someone playing with such a severe handicap, it makes you feel more defeated and if you win, you feel bad because you had to win when someone wasn't at their full potential. I would never play anyone with a handicap as it makes you feel bad either way. You need to just play someone at full strength, win or lose it's worth the learning experience. You won't get better if someone disables their game for you. That is just pity.

    • @Andreabay90
      @Andreabay90 8 місяців тому

      that makes no sense. why wouldnt felix wanna play him normally if he could? clearly his opponent sliced for his own sake

    • @shipwreck8847
      @shipwreck8847 8 місяців тому +3

      @@Andreabay90 Because he got destroyed by him their first encounter and he wanted to have a chance. Winston Du has similar handicap sets, it's not uncommon for players intentionally trying to balance out skill level. I'm not bad mouthing Felix, but just an honest assessment. I do like Felix, but I want to see him level up and playing people with a handicap isn't going to help you do that.

    • @punpun2773

      The thing is Billy Harris also mostly slices in his matches. If you've watched him in a pro match, you'd know that's one of his biggest weapons and allows him to set up his net rushes, volleys. It's as much as a handicap as playing against Dimitrov or Evans and they're only allowed to slices

    • @jackbond5915
      @jackbond5915 8 місяців тому

      Not that severe of a handicap, I’m a 9 utr I played my friend who is an 8 in a match I had a huge blister on my left palm so I could only slice, I won 6-4 6-4. Once the blister recovered we played again when I could hit my two hander and I won the match the same score, 6-4 6-4. So this “severe” handicap you’re talking about doesn’t necessarily even change the outcome of a match or a set.
