I truly love this show- this and The Addams Family are my favorite sitcoms from the 60s. But some of his speeches here are quite wild-we had to learn to shoot Indians, we had to create the Garment District in NYC- where immigrant labor was cheap and working conditions were often horrendous... that's the American way!
While looking at this, I realized that the reason his neighbors didn't like him is because he had a stereotypical view of farmers and country folks. He expected them to be the way he believed them to be rather than who they actually are.
