I have to agree. I give Disney a lot of credit for the time and effort they put into making this character. They casted him perfectly as well. Jeremy Irons played him splendidly!
I don't understand why people think that 'Be Prepared' is darker than 'Hellfire.' It isn't that dark, to be honest- just another Disney villain wanting power, that's it. Whereas Hellfire is about darkness and lust especially, driving Frollo to the brink of insanity.
hellfire is definitely darker. he's basically saying that if she won't be with him then no one can have her and he will make sure of that by burning her at the stake.
+antony Lonappan In Be Prepared you actually get to understand what drives Scar towards his plan, you can actually hear his torment in the lyrics and performance. It gives me goosebumps until this very day.
+antony Lonappan Scar's plan involves killing someone though, unlike Ursula's or Jafar's for instance, so that adds a certain darkness to the song. Haven't seen Hunchback in way too long to be able to compare the two songs though.
Scar killed his own brother and whispered in his nephews ear that he killed his father. I’m sorry but, Scar for the win. To be sick to strangers is one thing, but to just be straight out cruel to your own blood is just a whole other level of evil (in my opinion respectably), plus... Nazi Hyenas.
@@Thoralmir It's a reprise, but it's also a complete mockery, which yeah, perfectly fits with Jafar. I was expecting it to land not just in the Top 10, but high up there.
Of all the villainous voices, narrations, and musical pieces I've heard over the years, *NONE* could come even a mile close to matching the authority, command, and raw power of Tony Jay's voice as Judge Claude Frolo.
Who else thinks that song Ursula sang when she was in her disguise should have gotten at least a mention? Yeah, it was pretty brief, but to its credit, it was very effective and in retrospect, pretty underrated.
ejl423 it is underrated but because eit is so short and small it doesnt mean much. That is until you learn Jodi Benson did Vanessas voice which is amazing
Hellfire is number one - It's dark and intensive, emotional and there's nothing else like it, it's about lust for fucks sake, how often do you see that in a Disney movie? Hands down number one
I'm sorry, but I'm disgusted that My Lullaby from Lion King 2 wasn't on this list, nor an honourable mention. The very way that Zira sings this song of bloodshed and war is MUCH more menacing than anything else Disney pulled out of their ass. I mean she uses words like "Symphony of death" and "Lioness' mournful cry" in the song, as well as saying that "her flag will fly against a blood-red sky"
HELLFIRE WAS CREEPY AF. when i was a child i didn't understand most of it but i did get the part that he was in love with esmeralda. when i got older though i realized that the song was super dark and scary hahaha. should be number 1 imo
Here's my top 5: 5. Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid) 4. Dig For Virginia (Pocahontas) 3. Be Prepared (The Lion King) 2. Friends On The Other Side (Princess & The Frog) 1. Hellfire (Hunchback Of Notre Dame) Honourable Mention: The Yodelling Song (Home On The Range) (I'm not kidding with that choice)
Opal The Fusion Same here. It's lyrics are really fitting for her character and gives a good look at Zira's backstory and plot of her character, looking at why she is the way she is.
You should've taken 'Mother knows best: Reprise' that's a villain song. The original one doesn't really give the menacing, scary and villainous feel. Cruella de Vil ii's above Hellfire? How? The top 3 should have been Hellfire Be prepared Mother knows best: Reprise/ Friends on the other side
I do love "Be Prepared" but I think "Hellfire" should have been number one, it's really epic and dark and well, Frollo as a character is almost too horrible for a children's movie xD As for the "song that turned me to the dark side", I've actually always preferred the villains in movies ever since I first started watching movies, pretty much. They always looked way cooler (often semi-gothic), they had really interesting personalities as opposed to the dull all-good heroes, and of course they had the most epic songs! Hades, Jafar and Frollo are probably some of my all time favorite Disney characters.
KreeZafi YES! Frollo's song was also very daring, it was Disney blatantly talking about sexual desires and the wrath of god. It makes him one of my favorite characters to despise. I love it!
Mr. Tacõ I'd like you to listen to My Lullaby then see if you think Hellfire is the still #1. Not really judging though since they're tied in my opinion.
Completely agree, FOTOS was chilling, the animation was also rather frightful for Disney and I was genuinely unnerved. In turn, Hellfire is so powerful because it's a Priest baring his thrice damned soul and yet still claiming righteousness. Disturbing as all hell. Magnificent. Should've been higher.
I just loved Hellfire for the themes of heaven and hell intertwining about this one "righteous" man. and besides that the musical score and imagery that back the lyrics make it even more evil and awesome.
Be Prepared is Number 1. No other villain song is as good as it, it's simply the best one. Let's add that Scar actually succeeded his plan and obtained what he wanted for a few years at least.
matthew snyder this is very true. I agree that not every list has to have Hellfire as number 1. But so far, I have yet to see a list that has Hellfire in the top 3. I just want to see a few lists that give this song more credit..
+ZakanaHachihaCBC Frollo was the tyrannical leader of Paris for decades, so I'd say he was pretty successful too. Be prepared is my second favorite, so I can see an argument be made for it, however.
"My Lullaby" from Lion King 2 should've been on this list, dare I say number one. You can feel the emotion from Zira, parts of the song just give you chills, and the lyrics are incredibly dark, focusing on killing Simba, enjoying the bloody war, and avenging Scar. That song is hella underrated!
literally! zara is one of the most overlooked villains. the obsession she has with scar gives me goosebumps whenever i think about it. her character is so deep and dark, i wish people would give her more credit!
Thats because the villains in disney films are cooler in every way in comparison to the main hero, they're not afraid to say what they want, act what they want, and take what they want, its a stellar transition in comparison to the either wussy or goodie two shoes hero or heroine
I still holds true even today as the writers of Let it Go from Frozen originally wrote the song as a villain song. After hearing it though the director decided to turn Elsa into a hero instead of a villain. So in a sense a villain song won a freaking Oscar this year.
I actually think this list is completely wrong. Here's my list: 1. Hellfire 2. Savages 3. Mother Knows Best 4. Friends on the Other Side 5. Be Prepared 6. Poor Unfortunate Souls 7. Gaston 8. Prince Ali (reprise) 9. Oogie Boogie Song 10. World's Greatest Criminal Mind
First, I want to say that you have great taste in Disney movies! Hunchback of Notré Dame and Pocahontas are my personal favorites! Hellfire is certainly the most evil song made by disney. Scar, Maleficent, Ursula, Hans, and all others are WAYYY to overrated!
I was really sad to see Savages and Hellfire lower than Be Prepared. But it was nice not seeing Love is an Open Door here, because I don't really think it was a good villain song and Hans was more of a douchebag than a villain.

youve got good taste
Maleficent didn't sing because symphonic death metal didn't exist back in the 50s.

J. Bull
cause everyone did :D but i liked the fan choices from the poll better.
The villains always get the best songs, my personal favourite is Hellfire, its dark and catchy and Tony Jay's voice is so elegant and sinister
"My Lullaby" from The Lion King 2 is also very good and not in the list.
That’s an amazing song, I feel the emotion in Zira’s voice
My Lullaby is so freaking underrated.
Yes! I was just about to mention that one
Yeah, and Zira was a very good villain on top of that
It’s so underrated
Imagine Hunchback of Notre Dame live action with Hellfire. That would be amazing.
multisturge I low-key want to see that lmao
well theyve already got footage of the cathedral on fire, so thatll save some time
It would be but not the way disney is making the remakes now cause they're just butchering the original movies

Hellfire should be number one. It’s the most powerful and epic of them all, and without a doubt the darkest.
Is it only me that likes the villains more than the heroes (in some movies)
A lot of people do
Scar was so cool D: 😫😫
I know, I love Scar he is one of my most cherished Disney villains
+Lollypopz2001
He was such a great character!! I personally loved his design
I have to agree. I give Disney a lot of credit for the time and effort they put into making this character. They casted him perfectly as well. Jeremy Irons played him splendidly!
1 Hellfire
2 Friends on the other Side
3 Are you In or Out (King of Thieves)
4 Be Prepared
5 World's Greatest Criminal Mind
have you heard "my lullaby" from lion king 2
+Jade Harley Yes!
+Jade Harley That's a good one!
king of thieves is DreamWorks, this is a Disney countdown
Raven May it's also disney
I don't understand why people think that 'Be Prepared' is darker than 'Hellfire.' It isn't that dark, to be honest- just another Disney villain wanting power, that's it. Whereas Hellfire is about darkness and lust especially, driving Frollo to the brink of insanity.
Yeah, hellfire is HELL (see what I did there?) more darker. But, not that good as be prepared.
Perhaps it's the talk of war, treason and a bit of Nazis thrown in
hellfire is definitely darker. he's basically saying that if she won't be with him then no one can have her and he will make sure of that by burning her at the stake.
“Be Prepared” and “Friends On The Other Side” were the ones that turned me into a villain-lover.
Dr. Facilier has probably got to be my favorite Disney villain. I don't care what anybody else says he just has that style :D

The princess frog is my favorite princess movie!

3. Poor unfortunate souls
#1 Queen of Mean
@@samuelvelasquez4833 lol🤣
#1 BE PREPARED then #2 HELLFIRE
@@avalowenicolas6854 I respect your opinion, but I disagree
Hellfire is a huge liturgical piece about a priest taking his lust out on the woman he lusts after. How that isn't 1 blows my mind.
Zach Gates he's a judge in the movie not a priest like in the book but still
You cant beat Nazi Hyenas man
@@DaSaintDemon yes you can, the great frollo is unbeatable :v
@@DaSaintDemon You easily can lmao
Scar killed his own brother and whispered in his nephews ear that he killed his father. I’m sorry but, Scar for the win. To be sick to strangers is one thing, but to just be straight out cruel to your own blood is just a whole other level of evil (in my opinion respectably), plus... Nazi Hyenas.
how is prince ali just an honorable mention?? the entire aladdin soundtrack is a masterpiece
I know, right?! It's turning the hero's theme on it's head, how can it only be a honorable mention?!
@@smththtwlllst It's a reprise of someone else's song, not Jafar's own. Which kinda fits his character as a usurper.
@@Thoralmir It's a reprise, but it's also a complete mockery, which yeah, perfectly fits with Jafar. I was expecting it to land not just in the Top 10, but high up there.
If Hellfire isn't at least #3 I'm rioting. (I'll be ok if be prepared or friends from the other side beat it.)
Right, I'm rioting.
It's the darkest song in the catalog.
+TotallyNotNerdy just missed it
me too
RIOTING NOW !!
Yeah, it was pretty brief, but to its credit, it was very effective and in retrospect, pretty underrated.
ejl423 I agree
ejl423 I think it should've been a metion
ejl423 it is underrated but because eit is so short and small it doesnt mean much. That is until you learn Jodi Benson did Vanessas voice which is amazing
Or at least in the next list
@ejl423 yeah I watch once upon a time, so rewatching those movies, is, interesting...
I can’t believe hellfire is not number one!
Annelise Zeender hellfire can’t beat be prepared
Ridiculous Rick Of course can beat
@@drilonkrasniqi752 it cant
Hellfire is a solid two compared with goose stepping singing nazi hyenas. I love how dark and twisted Frollo is, but Scar was better.
Archer You read the coments? All say for Hellfire 1#
“Friends On The Other Side” should be higher. That's my favorite Disney villain song.
Madison Hobbs I agree
Madison Hobbs agreed 100%
me too
Madison Hobbs I agree 100%.
agreed my guy!
Hellfire isn't just the best villain song. It's one of the best from all of Disney
Totally agree. The song (and film overall) dont get enough credit.
top 1 but by far
so who all immediatly then went and listend to all of these again
ME!!! :)
they are so good you have too
I have most of these songs on my playlist.
+Aaron Morton did
I did lol
Hellfire is number one - It's dark and intensive, emotional and there's nothing else like it, it's about lust for fucks sake, how often do you see that in a Disney movie? Hands down number one
SuperEllyh not to mention the return of scar in the lion gaurd rise of scar
Well I like Hellfire
SuperEllyh then again, there's the Night On Bald Mountain, which is literally the Song of Disney Satan...
SuperEllyh Be Prepared is better bud
SuperEllyh I think hellfire and be prepared are the top two I think they could interchangeably be the first and second best
I would be pissed if hellfire wasn’t on the list.
"Friends on the other side" and "Mother knows best" should be higher in my opinion 🤔🐸
Hellfire as well
You so f=#$÷: right
Mines to
Totally agree
I don't give a crap about you're opinion
I'm sorry, but I'm disgusted that My Lullaby from Lion King 2 wasn't on this list, nor an honourable mention.
The very way that Zira sings this song of bloodshed and war is MUCH more menacing than anything else Disney pulled out of their ass. I mean she uses words like "Symphony of death" and "Lioness' mournful cry" in the song, as well as saying that "her flag will fly against a blood-red sky"
It was only a direct to video movie, so I can see why it was not included.
Fun Fact, Joss Whedon was involved with the lyrics of the song
***** :O JOSS WHEDON?! HE MAKES THE BEST SHOWS LIKE BUFFY AND SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ni ui
So true. The fact that that song was a lullaby is creepy enough.
Insanity "Insane" Dreams you don't even have to read the lyrics. All you have to do is listen to it really.
Yes! Be Prepared is my number 1 too! But I think Hellfire should be number 2!
What about Shiny from Moana?
Well I think that hellfire should be number 1 but watchmojo always screws up at the end lol
Yep
Yes!
Agreed
Warning spoilers for lion king (2019)
I’m disappointed with the be prepared song in the live action it is spoken and strongly down graded
I agree, but you know what's worst, mufasas death in 2019 mufasa had no emotion he just sounded bland but the movie is great btw
NightThorn123 lol
Spoilers for a movie with the same plot as a 1994 film?
I actually liked it accept the fact that it wasn't the whole song
One of the biggest disappointments for me
“Friends on the other side” needs to be higher on this list
I was supposed when it was on number 8 too. It's so good!
It should've been at number one
2 at least😤
-"How are you?"
-"Miserable darling, perfectly retchet as usual."
Me.
We are the same
Wretched.
But yes!
best villain.
My favourite Disney villain song is “Love Is an Open Door”.
I... uh. I... I guess that's a villains song huh?..
I love that song..
Lmao what a twist 🧐😂
You aren't wrong lol I was so shook at that plot twist lol
Lol
That's a love song-
Hellfire should be number one. The raw passion and many underlying layers of subtext are on a whole other level
Hi handsome..................
And extra points for being a bit darker than other Disney Villains songs. That really established the whole "Creepy Villain" thing in my book.
Wrong!!!!!!!!
I can't believe Oogie Boogie's song wasn't even mentioned. One of the best villain songs!!
That's Tim burton so I don't think it exactly counts. It did greatly scare me when I was younger tho
Yeah that jazz song should have been 1
HELLFIRE WAS CREEPY AF. when i was a child i didn't understand most of it but i did get the part that he was in love with esmeralda. when i got older though i realized that the song was super dark and scary hahaha. should be number 1 imo
yas!
yeah no, nothing tops be prepared
Number 2. Be prepared is the best, in my opinion
+Selinko7 Zwinkersmiley yes!!!!
Same it actually became creepy when i started understanding it
Here's my top 5:
5. Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid)
4. Dig For Virginia (Pocahontas)
3. Be Prepared (The Lion King)
2. Friends On The Other Side (Princess & The Frog)
1. Hellfire (Hunchback Of Notre Dame)
Honourable Mention:
The Yodelling Song (Home On The Range) (I'm not kidding with that choice)
Joshua Stacey YESSS HELLFIRE SHOULD BE IN 1
2. I like that
Joshua Stacey you should really watch Peter Hollen's and Whitney Avalon's disney villains medley, I think you'll like it
Joshua Stacey I LOVE HELLFIRE!!!
When I was reading your comment poor unfortunate souls was being mentioned
My favourites are definitely "Poor Unfortunate Souls", "Be Prepared", Hellfire", "Friends on the other side" and "In the dark of the night".
Anastasia isn't Disney.
Mangle Foxy Oh... I thought so ^^"
Nekotaku It's ok. :)
Mangle Foxy But still, good to know :D Thanks ^^
Nekotaku You're welcome. :)
Ratigan is like the definition of Villain, I can tell in Vincent Price's voice he had fun with his role
😄😄😄 um-hum
Price acutally said it was his favorite role
"Gaston" was on the list, but "Kill the Beast" was only honorable mention??? Am I the only one who has a problem with that???
Snake5461 Yes
Snake5461 no me to 😭😭
Snake5461 I actually think Gaston is kind of bad I like kill the beast more
Opal The Fusion Same here. It's lyrics are really fitting for her character and gives a good look at Zira's backstory and plot of her character, looking at why she is the way she is.
Snake5461 yes
Why Savages and Hellfire are so low in the list? They are the most powerful songs. And Kill the beast is better than Gaston.
Mariel Cordero low in the list is good! It means its liked better!
But Kill the Beast isn't iconic /of Gaston./ Powerful, yes, but about the villain of the piece? Not so much.
It's called The Mob Song
Maru gaston is my favorite song lol
Because MsMojo is obssesed with the lion king
You should've taken 'Mother knows best: Reprise' that's a villain song. The original one doesn't really give the menacing, scary and villainous feel.
Cruella de Vil ii's above Hellfire? How?
The top 3 should have been
Hellfire
Be prepared
Mother knows best: Reprise/ Friends on the other side
Sadly
The original version is Called: " Be prepared" but in italian version (my childhood) is " I Will Be King"
I do love "Be Prepared" but I think "Hellfire" should have been number one, it's really epic and dark and well, Frollo as a character is almost too horrible for a children's movie xD
As for the "song that turned me to the dark side", I've actually always preferred the villains in movies ever since I first started watching movies, pretty much.
I love it!
I always felt more like the bad guys too :-)
Be Prepared and Hellfire are both my Favorite Disney songs..
Same
Hellfire I think is at a good position.
did you really put Hellfire at number 4?
also, I'm beginning to think WatchMojo has a thing for Scar...
They bee Plotting
@Tony Stark no Friends On The Other Side and Hellfire are better than Be Prepared.
This is me being honest
It is the best villain. And the best Disney song
Scar is the most overrated villain in Disney, I know he is charismatic and all but in things like being evil or the song Frollo is always the best
@@paris5663 no and no
Hellfire should have been #1 nothing is more villain than singing about a girl who either is going to be wife or going to hell
Mr. Tacõ I'd like you to listen to My Lullaby then see if you think Hellfire is the still #1. Not really judging though since they're tied in my opinion.

Many would argue not putting hellfire as number one is a sin in itself
True. many would argue and one of them is ME
Yes thank you
Yes. They have to do an updated version of this list.
Number 2
It's their opinion child

not a single soul:
Disney: lets give bad bois music
HOW DARE YOU PUT FRIENDS ON THE OTHER SIDE #8??? 8!?!?!?! THATS ABSURD! IMPOSSIBLE! UNBELIEVABLE!

The Star Wars Hero we know
The Star Wars Hero - risky choice. Sure you want to predict that
YES
agrree
Davinder Kaur I thought she was just a follower of scar.
Friends on the Other Side and Hellfire should have been higher!!
I completely agree, Hellfire is probably one of the best songs of a Disney villain out there.
Hellfire is awesome, and Friends On the Other Side is actually surprisingly dark for Disney.
I THINK THE SAME, THEY HAD TO BE 2 AND 3.
I just loved Hellfire for the themes of heaven and hell intertwining about this one "righteous" man. and besides that the musical score and imagery that back the lyrics make it even more evil and awesome.
Hellfire only number 4?
Should have been number 1.
Be Prepared is Number 1. No other villain song is as good as it, it's simply the best one. Let's add that Scar actually succeeded his plan and obtained what he wanted for a few years at least.
Scary
matthew snyder this is very true. I agree that not every list has to have Hellfire as number 1. But so far, I have yet to see a list that has Hellfire in the top 3. I just want to see a few lists that give this song more credit..
Robert Ferrolino "Be Prepared" was sung by Scar and his hyenas. They were inspired by Hitler and the Nazis.
+ZakanaHachihaCBC
Frollo was the tyrannical leader of Paris for decades, so I'd say he was pretty successful too. Be prepared is my second favorite, so I can see an argument be made for it, however.

I don't know why but villain songs are the best in these movies, better than the other songs
Because it's fun to be bad >:)
My favorites are
#1 Hellfire
#2 Savages
#3 Be Prepared

First, I want to say that you have great taste in Disney movies! Hunchback of Notré Dame and Pocahontas are my personal favorites! Hellfire is certainly the most evil song made by disney. Scar, Maleficent, Ursula, Hans, and all others are WAYYY to overrated!
I was really sad to see Savages and Hellfire lower than Be Prepared. But it was nice not seeing Love is an Open Door here, because I don't really think it was a good villain song and Hans was more of a douchebag than a villain.
Aileen Zhang Yeah. All these people are going on about how Hans is the most evil "villain" blah blah blah, but he is not really a villain
I really wish they could just go back to the movies they made in the Disney Renaissance.
Aileen Zhang Dear Disney,
Please create a couple films that are NOT CG. Your CG movies don't look like Disney. Please go back to the movies you made in your renaissance era.
