I would suggest the fasteners should be welded on the outside of the housing so the chain and rock bits dont shear them off.

Highly recommend not starting this project until you find someone able to bend flat stock or the right sized pipe. I spent an entire day calling and going fabricator to fabricator and NO ONE can do it. I also can't find the right pipe. All after paying someone to plasma cut two pieces of steel into circles and welding up the nut and chain. Really wish I would have just bought one.

thanks for being so inventive, I was just thinking I needed a smaller one and I have a larger grinder than that from Craftsman from about 30 years ago that will work really wonderful. Once I figure out everything I need to put together. chairs

Those grinders are junk and they'll tell you so if you simply ask, they told me they are only meant to do light light grinding like once or twice for a few minutes a month! Don't waste your time with the cheapest one buy the 30-40 dollar grinder and that way you won't throw your work away the same hour you finished welding it up.

Just one suggestion if you can find some quarter inch tall angle iron and weld it inside where the chain bounces the rocks on the inside diameter of the iron shell. Thereby helping to break up the rocks. You'd save battery because the energy would pack more punch to crack and break apart the rock.IMHO

I seem to have an issue with every battery operated grinder i use for normal operations. The issue is the extremely fast paced nature in which normal use drains a 4or5 ah battery in about 5-8 minutes.

The exhaust the blue thing, I would use a vac hose but use a screen in it, anything bigger than you screen would stay, anything smaller goes through vac hose, make long enough, screen to end of hose you can use as a scoop for the gravel, 6-8 in. Feed in the crusher in and suck out the fines. All from vac hose.
