I'd listen to Crying done later in Orbison's life (like from Black And White Night) when the song was more refined (imo) and I believe after some of the tragedies in his life when his voice took on a sadder tone. The other Orbison songs I'd recommend are Leah (personal favourite) and The Comedians. The whole Black and White night show was brilliant, the man could sing like no other live.
You should show him the video of Roy Orbison doing [You Go It] in Belgium. Roy died 17 days later of a sudden heart attack, before the song was even released on record.
Roy was known back then as "THE VOICE" MOST of his songs were like that, where they would BUILD like "CRYING" You both should watch the PBS special "ROY ORBISON - A BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT" (it was filmed in Black and White, and has other famous artists as his band and back up singers...K.D. LANG, BONNIE RAIT, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, ELVIS COSTELLO, JACKSON BROWN, JENNIFER WARNE, and others.
@@THEDEEPDIVE yes I enjoyed Blue Angel, mainly for the vocal gymnastics by Roy but he's at his best on his achingly sad songs. Check the beautiful lyrics on It's Over, incredible.
@@samguberman2288 oh definitely.. It's Over is a masterpiece all the way around. The quaver in his voice is the sadness shaking through my whole body. I love how busy the arrangement is while never crowding the slow aching melody.
Great and awesome react, I can see your numbers exploding. Keep it real. I'm old so I can recommend hundreds of great oldies but of all them I would ask if you have seen "Eruption", by Eddie Van Halen? Psychiatrist: Where did he touch you? Eddies Guitar: EVERYWHERE
Apologize for the tech issues and short episode... I was going to not release this.. but I love seeing James learn to love this song.
What a voice!! My second favorite of Roy's songs.
Just a side note,at the recording session of Crying,Roy's producer, the late Fred Foster, said "He electrified everyone present."
Love context like this! Thanks so much. - Justin
