    Bit weird how politicians and journalists are saying that we might get rid of tanks because there’s no need for them. Despite the fact that we’re constantly doing exercises like this that require tanks and armour.

      It's because we still bloody need them I don't understand what hackers are going to do against IS a non uniformed army of terrorists with almost no technology the most they could do is sabotage communications between IS members but I'm fairly sure that's already being done, where as an MBT or the IFV's that the British army own can physically protect the troops +as old as chally's equipment is it is still the most accurate tank in the world and the one with the longest practical range

      They are now using unmanned tanks in Estonia, because of the lack of soldiers and because the normal tanks are just too expensive, and can easily be taken out by a Carl Gustav or a Javelin. So a unmanned tank is statistically and economicaly better, making normal tanks obsolete.

    Thanks to all you guys. Have had exercises in Tapa with Brits and French, we have learned a lot from them and they are keeping open mind learning a bit from small Estonia too. These kind of videos also just help to show the human side of all this, instead of just "another few thousand of "foreign" troops are dicking around in our forests".

      @@cswpartridge They both have TES attachments/systems, but tend to not get used in those environments, FIWAF etc. Lasers don't do well with too much foliage, I also don't think there are enough out there for the shear amount needed for the Estonian style Wargames, and maybe the Estonians don't like em.
      So in Wargames like this they just use sort of 'umpires' to judge(the blue dudes). So here the rifle just lets them know they've fired the NLAW, so the umpires know who to kill or neutralize and apply points accordingly. Not that you ever get to know how you did where most of the time.
      We used to have to do the same thing even with GPMGs cause at one stage they brought in REALLY quiet blank adapters no one knew they were getting shot :D

      There are judges, and in most cases the one who win are decided basicly beforehand, depending on which side has more of tanks or soldiers or so on.
      There can be some shots fired and then a judge next to you can just basicly say that you have been hit or killed or something.

    • @enricocarrara4741
      @enricocarrara4741 3 роки тому

      I highly doubt that they are firing blanks, as the hot blast of air coming from the barrel still has the potential to seriously hurt or even kill someone so I believe that blanks would still be to dangerous.

    • @enricocarrara4741
      @enricocarrara4741 3 роки тому

      @Raj Maj I never claimed that they where in fact as dangerous as live ammo, just that blanks can still lead to injuries and potential death.
      Therefore comparing it to live ammo is ridiculous, as it would be like saying that a tank is more dangerous than a knife as it is true though a knife can still cause
      serious damage.
