"why is yasha still alive after his core is out?" like asura being too angry to die, yasha, the god of melancholy, was too sad to die. he dies with a smile on his face.
looks like he used some of the remaining mantra to live and spent it all in the fight in the end.

Yasha is how you make a character death feel tragic and memorable.
By having you go through major events and hardship together with them. It make you sympathize with the character so much more.

That fist bump actually had me crying a bit. That's a powerful emotional catharsis right there. Especially with the line "You were always a brother. Never an enemy"

It made me tear up as it's how I would communicate with my father after his entire body got paralyzed and he could also no longer speak.
I taught him what a fist bump means after he lost the ability to shake my hand or give me a thumbs up, and it's how we'd say hello and goodbye.
He passed away recently after 5 years of intense suffering. He wasn't just a parent but also a friend.

I remember back in the days the rollercoaster of emotions i had during this... Yasha saves asura, YAY!... But takes his core out of his chest, NO!... Then Asura woke up and Yasha was alive, YAY!... But they begin to fight, NO!... Then Asura unlocks his powers and Yasha smiles, YAY!... And then i realised what was up all along and just said "GOD FUCKING DAMIT WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!?"... And then he died, making this game one of the best i've ever played...
Considering what Capcom did for Okami, with the many ports and rereleases to help it reach the audience it deserved, it's surprising and disappointing that this was not given a fraction of the extra chances that Okami had.
Spreading the game to get even more recognition is probably the only hope we have at getting this masterpiece to have the remasters and ports it deserves

Yasha's death still gets me to this day. This game is absolutely amazing.
It's a powerful.moment for the game, despite being so closely aligned to the melancholy mantra he's able to pass on with a smile knowing that his last act was kickstarting the mantra reactor and leaving the rest to Asura.

One of my favorite lines is when yasha tells asura he is only good at breaking things so in return he says," Then I will break everything!" I fucking love that line
For a game that was more of a movie/story type. The fact it found ways to keep on topping each big money shot was terrific. Loved all the voice actors and visuals.100/10 would buy a second game.
Almost 10 years...and that final battle between Asura and Yasha still brings a tear to my eye.
Also, the reason Vlitra's Core looks like Asura is because, in some versions and interpretations of the myth, Vritra, an evil serpent/dragon that drank/polluted all the water in the world was also considered an asura.
At least from what I could look up way back when this game came out.
I guess since we're getting close to the end now, I hope we can continue to remember this character and that it was such a fun ride to live with you Maximilian

Asura vs Yasha fight is basically an arena fighter story mode fight like the ones in Naruto Ninja Storm, things get epic.

If Capcom decides to absorb the Asura's Wrath canon into Street Fighters timeline
(Very very very early in the timeline of course)
I can totally see Yasha being the originator of Bushinryu
Not only bushinryu, look at yasha's stance when he's ready to fight, it's similar to akuma's when he's going raging demon in street fighter 4 or when deus slaps both asura and yasha, he says "messatsu".

The most underrated game in my opinion
I actually think this type of interactive qte gameplay is super underated and would actually fit really well with a fighting game story mode, imagine having this badass cutscene mid fight where you have to do like a fireball motion as a qte it would be fucking badass and would actually teach new players motion inputs !
Funny enough, this game has a DLC where Asura fights Ryu, Akuma and Oni. And one of the QTEs is a fireball motion, and the other is a Raging Demon input

I never got around to picking up this game for my PS3 back when it first launched. Seeing Max having a blast playing Asura's Wrath just makes me want to find myself a copy of the game that much more.
I recommend emulation for the best experience

If Asura's Wrath ever gets a remake, they'll just need to focus on improving the gameplay and sprucing up the graphics a little bit. They could legitimately keep the original voice recordings and let the game stand on the same merits that made the original great.
also giving us a sound balance option because good lord does some dialogue get drowned out by the music & especially sound effects.

Asura has taught me a valuable lesson in never giving up, even if it means God himself will come down to try and take over my plans.
Thats the point of fiction and entertainment.. It led people astray.. And it works.. People will defy God their one true creator because of what they see on tv.. Ungratefull and pridefull

One of my favorite games of all time. If any game ever deserved a remaster it's this one
Hey Max, now that Asura is over, will you consider ever playing Metal Gear Rising? It is a big meme, but an amazing experience that, believe it or not, shares a lot of things with Asura's Wrath. I think you would enjoy the hell out of that game.

You can't do prompts while in the air. This boss has many prompts and none of them activate while you're in the air.
In short for everyone else who wants to play this game: DON'T JUMP ALL THE TIME!
Seriously the best Cyber Connect 2 game they've ever made. It's a masterpiece. It needs a re-release on current gen consoles and PC. You can make the game look EVEN better by disabling depth of field, ambient occlusion, bloom lighting and motion blur with the built in patches by right clicking > Manage Game Patches. Although, I do not recommend disabling bloom as it messes up Asura's eyes when he's angry.
Why would disabling all those things make it look better? Especially ambient occlusion and dof?

That and it's an old PS3 game that was virtually impossible to find because of it selling so poorly and now is even more hard to find because PS3 is two generations behind the current.
There's play station plus but you cannot play the dlc which fuckin sucks

It's a shame they dropped this franchise just because it didn't make a lot of money.
If they re-released it as a Special Edition with a couple new combat mechanics to freshen it up and all the dlc content, I think it'd do really well.
I hope the SF DLCs are still intact, I'd love to see him play through those.
As someone that watched this game’s cutscenes before even touching Naruto, I love seeing all the influences on the other’s end story.

Everything from 1:32:27 onward are Yasha's senses.... He can't see color, he can't hear anything. As he approaches Asura everything starts going white.
It's all him dying... and it's amazing.

this series has been great to watch. i remember playing this back on my 360 but i never got to experience the DLC which was amazing to see the game in a new light from what i remember!
I feel like Sony should have brought this game back as a remastered edition; with it being ported over to the PlayStation 4 and 5 for those who have never played it!
Well the game is owned by capcom and according to the creator of the game it's up to capcom for the remaster to happen.

What I wouldn't for give for a sequel, or a version of the game with more emphasis on the gameplay outside of the fights, instead of button prompts...it would be spectacular.
I can agree, i never watched a full playthrough but watching now i never thought the gameplay was so basic. It's bombastic and amazing to watch but it lacks depth.

loving this playthrough. did you know to off 7 trillion people they would have to have offed about a thousand people a minute for 12k years to archieve that goal
They did do a lot of killing during that 12k. Populace went real low in that time and dwindled to tribal villages almost. 115 deaths a min irl whats 885 more?
My theory is that BOTH Asura and Gaea/Vlitra were being prepped to take over Chakravartin, with the winner taking it all.
I think it's more that Gaea/Vlitra was supposed to lose. The winner between all the gods take the rights to rebuild the world but if no one wins the world would be considered a failure and it would end. Asura's refusing made him angry because it was not something that he expected so he decided to end it all anyways.
Vlitra was a trial.

okay but imagine asura as an install character who turns into a half grappler after he gets his 6 arms? like in his base state hed be a pretty standard unga bunga rushdown guy but then he gets arms and suddenly every punch has 2 more punches behind it so hes safer and maybe gets plus frames, and that one cinematic he does where he grabs you with 4 of his arms and punches you with the other 2 is the command grab
It's sad this game didn't do well commercially but that made it a cult classic. Capcom did not promote this game as much as they should've. I remember there being little hype for this game upon release but it is what it is. Still one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Games like Asura Wrath, Mass Effect Trilogy, MGS franchise, No more Heroes: HP, God hand, San Andreas and Killer is Dead are games my PS3 lives for.
If they made a big budget remake of this game it would turn out amazing.

i enjoyed reliving this game with you. I remember buying a new copy of this for PS3 & getting totally immersed in this. the dlc I didn't get, yet I appreciate that it is included & I get to see it.
