Sir I am currently pursuing Bachelors in management studies from Narsee monjee college, mumbai, is it possible for me to get into AT Kearney or Google right after my undergrad?
Your college records would be the best place to check if any of your seniors have managed to do that. If so, then get in touch with them to ask for guidance.
hello sir, im currently in 10th grade cbse . i want to start my own business , so for that i dont have to pursue science , which is y ive decided to take humanities in 11th which is very simple [ thats not the only reason, i grasp social studies very well] , and go for bba after 12th. Do you think This is a good idea sir ?
A lot would depend on whether you are excited about the brand, since it isn't considered among the elite ones. Do you feel you could've done better than this? What GMAT score did you apply with?
@@gagangautam1474 It's unusual for bschools to skip test scores based on experience. But if they haven't given you the financial aid you expected, you'd need to think twice if you'd want to spend so much on a brand that's generally not considered in the top league. If you have the patience and ambition, better to take the GMAT and aim for better schools.

You'd agree that the GRE and CAT scores are both quite low. While they aren't accurate reflections of your potential, have you considered the possibility that a management degree may not be the most ideal way to get to your goals? Have you considered alternatives such as PMP that could open up management opportunities?

Between ESMT Berlin and Manchester Business School, which one would be better for career growth with function change in your opinion? This is for a Indian who is a fluent German speaker
Career growth and function change would be pretty general expectations. Can you specify in terms of role, industry and geography that you'd be most excited about?

Some thoughts. Check which bschool feeds more grads into tech companies on your list. My guess is you'll have a better range and diversity of opportunities when you're closer to a huge financial hub such as London (Manchester isn't too close, but you can still travel). Knowing German is a big advantage that'll open up doors to German companies too, if that's where you'd want to move after your MBA. If you don't have a strong personal reason to choose either, I'd pick Manchester.

I am pursuing an online PGDM from NMIMS and I am also willing to do MBA abroad will it be a correct decision.? Do all colleges accept the application with online MBA degree.? Thank you in advance! Waiting for your response.
It won't be a good idea to go for a second MBA immediately after completing your current one. Try to make the most of your current investment before considering one. In parallel, you can reach out to your target programs and ask them how they view online degrees. Some may consider it, others won't. Hello Sir - Can you please help with list of online Management/Strategy consulting courses/MBA for working professionals in India providing end to end knowledge? Thanks!
The video has a list of full-time programs with a good track record in getting students placed in the consulting industry. We don't have a list of online courses and we're not aware of their efficacy either.
Hello Sir - Its a very helpful video. Can you please help with course content of these top MBA schools? I tried searching it but couldn't find it in their information brochure. Please help.
Hi your video was quite informative. It will be helpful if you can throw some light on the next step after working with the Government of India as a consultant. Should I pursue an MBA after gaining exp. working with GOI? Besides, does this experience count if I want to pursue my career in management consulting. Thanks
A lot would depend on what kind of consultant you were in your GoI role. If it has overlaps with the skills required for more mainstream consulting (whether its strategy, operations, tech, finance or something else), it would be easier for you to justify a career transition.
It could. Top consulting firms hire from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. But selectivity is very tight, so they use a lot of filters ranging from the undergrad pedigree to the bschool brand, other than the regular things like relevance and fit. But if that's a hurdle you can always look beyond MBB and consider other firms that may not be as selective.
Hello sir actually now I am doing my BBA in marketing so after completing my bachelor's in marketing what are the job profiles that I can get..? Like the job positions??? Can you tell please.
Our expertise is on international degrees. We don't have any insights into how your college and the BBA degree it offers is perceived by recruiters. The best bet would be to talk to alumni who're already working in roles that you're aspiring for. Find out which companies to target and how to improve your odds of getting selected.
I'm in my undergrad in Business Administration (Finance) should I go for Masters in Finance or Masters in Business Analytics? Provided I'll later opt to go for an MBA (targeting INSEAD) in future and that too with Finance as my specialization. 2. My ultimate goal is to break into any one of the MBBs to Kickstart my corporate carrer. 3. I currently have a Diploma in IT (3 years), Diploma in Data Science (1 year) and after 2 years I'll be an undergrad with Business Administration in Finance. What do you suggest? Sincerely, Arya
Check out careers in both disciplines - finance and data analytics - and decide which one is aligned with your interests and aptitude. That'll make it easier for you to choose.
Sir, I am clueless about how to get into a management consultant job. I am going to pursue PGDM from Rajagiri business school, Kerala probably I will be taking finance as a major in the second year. On watching the video I understood that it isn't possible to get into MBB directly. But what sort of jobs should I do after completing pg and for how many years I need to get a work experience in that job? Again do I need to take an mba after writing GMAT exam to get into MBB consulting.
The best time to get into MBB is immediately after an MBA. Many who can't get in, because their college isn't a feeder into those firms, take up back/mid office roles in those firms. But keep in mind that it can be very difficult to move into a front office role after that.

We've worked with teachers who've got into good bschools. But there are challenges. You'll have to first figure out what your career goals are, and then convince adcoms how the MBA is going to help you in your new career. In your specific case, the work experience is also low. All good MBA programs abroad will ask for work experience. Without that we don't recommend going for an international MBA program. Are you targeting CAT / IIMs?
Hello sir/ma'am I'm Praful Galiyal from India, Mumbai. I am graduated from commerce i.e B.com . So confused that what to do next so I have decided to choose MIM but I'm still confused that in which field of MIM I should go. So sir/ma'am please help me to find better result and better in career. Thank you !
It is not a good idea to choose a degree when you aren't sure about how it will help you. Instead start with the career you want to target and then choose the degree. MiM is a general management degree, so you aren't under pressure to choose a niche field to specialise in. We have a separate video on MiM with more details.

MBA is a good option for getting into management consulting. But you'll need to get a few years of work experience before you apply to the top international bschools.
With management degrees, consulting companies don't care as much about the specialisation, as much as they do about the candidates analytical and problem solving skills.
Hello Sir I want to do MBA in marketing in future. I'm doing my M.com with specialization of e-commerce. it will be helpful for me or not? After M.com e-commerce what kind of job Profil I can expect?? Or Should I go for other specialization??
MBA programs don't really discriminate based on pre-MBA degrees. What's important is to show aptitude and accomplishments in the field you're targetting, so bschools and recruiters are both convinced that you're the right candidate.

I researched to clear my confusion, but everyone have their opinion like yes you should do mba, no need it's the same theory and assignments you get from your BBA, you can do mba if you are into business and it's not quite necessary also. If I am prepared for mba though, I wanted to do business where I am worried financially also. Can you please help me to get a clarity! Thanks Sindhu Priya.

@@MBACrystalBall I am personally interested in Marketing, wanted to learn digital marketing to improve more skills and interested to start my own venture, so I am worried should I do mba and improve my skills or can I plan for business directly?
For getting started in digital marketing, you don't need a fancy degree. You can set the ball rolling with some basic courses, and applying to companies that see the potential in you. Rankings have been losing their relevance over the years. And this year top bschools have refused to participate in the reputed lists such as FT. So take those rankings with a pinch of salt and take the call based on whether the programs puts a tick mark on most of your expectations.

Online MBA degrees will not help much if you plan to use it to get into consulting. Do you know any online MBA grads who currently work in good consulting companies?
The ideal approach would've been to get some experience first before considering any management degree. If you have strong reasons not to do so, then an MiM would work better than an international MBA (since this requires experience). Considering CAT MBA options too?

Hi, I really appreciate your content and have been following it for a while now. I have a question that I am working in a tier 3 management consulting firm and want to switch into Bain & Company before I think about an MBA. What are the possible ways I can accomplish it?
Most who have similar aspirations take the help of an MBA to make the jump. Without that it can be quite challenging. We've seen a few do that, but they were exceptional in what they did in the old firm. If you're in that situation, try getting a warm introduction to the company you're interested in. Beyond that you'd be on your own, in terms of convincing the team to hire you.

@@MBACrystalBall yes I have seen that videos and as nlu delhi is a tier 1 law school, we do get placements in khaitan, azb, amarchand etc..... I want to know if I stand a chance because my academics aren't that great
Your 10th and 12th don't matter. And you've done well in LLB (assuming that's what rank 2 meant). So don't worry too much about that. Other than doing well in the remaining part of the degree, there's not much that can be done in acads. Focus on getting into one of the top tier law firms and start building the skills and experience not just for that role, but also anything that may be relevant to your post MBA goals. However, one word of caution. Management consulting and startups are different worlds. You'll have to narrow down on one, and have a strong rationale to defend it. What kind of startups did you have in mind?
@@MBACrystalBall I'm delighted to hear that my 10th and 12th dont matter that much. If I want to get into the startup world, it would be either a luxury company (like LV) or into the fmcg market(like NESTLE). But I think I'm more inclined to management consultant as I can use my llb skills more over there. Eg- mergers and acquisitions, critical thinking, communication
If you don't have any exposure to FMCG or the luxury goods industry, it can become a tough sell. Consulting seems more aligned with where your career might go, assuming your planning to get into corporate law.

It's never a good idea to jump ship with the assumption that it will get you a vote of approval from Adcoms several years later. Choose the field that you genuinely like, and are willing to stick to regardless of whether the future path has an MBA stopover or not.

We've worked with CAs who've gone on to work for the elite consulting firms after an MBA. While each new candidate brings in some special skills and experience to the firm, the career path typically tends to be the same regardless of the consultants prior qualifications. The exception is when the candidate is recruited for non-consulting roles in the firm, such as admin/support services.
@@MBACrystalBall I partly agree to this. Have seen few profiles who are CA and not MBA and have got into the same consulting work (not the admin, finance work). Request if you can guide on this??
Yes, you're right. Those are called lateral hires, and are part of the consulting teams (not support staff). They are recruited for the specialist skills or industry insights they have. You don't necessarily need an MBA for such roles, as the experience and value you can add to the firms matters more. If your think you fall in that category, you can try to get a warm introduction within the firm and try to convert that into an interview invite. The other option is to apply online for any specific opportunity the firm may have. And then there are mid/back-office roles that aren't as stringent about the qualifications. But we're not discussing those here.

Hey Mr. Kamat, Is it possible to land an entry level business analyst job at MBB after a Non-MBA Master's (MIB, MSBA, MIM)? If yes then could you please make a video on the same, thank you.
Yes, MBB firms recruit for entry level positions (Analysts) from non-MBA degrees. While the designation/salary differs, the hiring process is quite similar to what we've covered in this video, so a new one may not be justified as it'll just be a repetition of this one.
Unlike MBA recruitment where the b-school relationship drives the process, for other masters degrees the university brand drives the relationship. So someone from (say) an ivy league university but with a non-business schools could still get on their radar, compared to an MiM or MIB grad from a non-target university.

Hello.. I am pursuing my BCA from IGNOU then I will go for MBA will it affect on my career as I wanted to be a consultant in MBB companies

A video regarding MBA in Switzerland
IMD is the big one there making the global rankings. We have several articles on IMD on our blog. Do check them out.
I am in my final year of Btech and got placed at dell as an analyst. I aspire to make a career in Consulting and hence will be aiming to apply to a tier-1 B school after 2-3 years of work ex. Should I look to switch jobs and get some prior experience in the consulting world before i head to a B school ? And How should I approach in shaping my profile to be a good fit for my Target B schools (ISB, INSEAD are my top 2)
If you can crack into consulting before the MBA, nothing like it. But that's easier said than done. The alternative is to work in a good company (like Dell) and make a mark. We've shared several ideas on building a strong MBA profile in this video: ua-cam.com/video/EpowVNJaXFc/v-deo.html
It's never a good idea to jump ship with the assumption that it will get you a vote of approval from Adcoms several years later. Choose the field that you genuinely like, and are willing to stick to regardless of whether the future path has an MBA stopover or not.
I need your valuable suggestions to help me in deciding whether I should prepare for GRE or GMAT for MBA/MIM/MFE program in US/CANADA/EUROPE/India. I am planning to apply in first two rounds of applications this year.
I am an Engineering Graduate with Post Graduate Diploma in Banking which landed me in finance industry. I have total 8.5 years experience in Credit Risk Domain.
My short term goal is to change my work domain from credit risk to consulting services or Investment banking or Auto Manufacturing.
Considering your work experience and career goals, an MBA would fit better than MiM or MFE. Take the GMAT, as some consulting and banking companies use it during recruitment.
@@MBACrystalBall B school also accept GRE scores now a days, which one is easier to score ON a 330+ in GRE or 740+ in GMAT ? Is scoring in any one of them a little easier than other.?
Yes, from an admissions angle, you can take either one. Easy or difficult would depend on whether you're strong on the quant side or verbal side. Try out mock tests for both to figure out your comfort level. And then focus on creating the right study plan to get your target score.
Sir please make videos on bba also
We don't focus on undergrad degrees at this point.
Hi Sameer, I am a marine engineer who has 3 years of work exp. in the Merchant Navy Industry. My acads are 93/83/78. 1.Should I appear for CAT and GMAT both? If so, should I take up GMAT before CAT because the US Bschool admission deadline is in coming up?
2. Moreover, can you tell me if my acads would be a hindrance to my placements in an MBA college, especially to MBB?
1. GMAT programs would be a better fit given your experience level.
2. MBB recruiters look at a range of aspects, including the bschool you graduated from. So don't worry too much about it at this stage. Focus on getting into the best bschool that you can.
@@MBACrystalBall Can you provide me with your email address, please?
Even Chartered Accountants have openings in such Firms..as a Business Analyst may be!!
Can you please have a video on this. CA + Consultant at MBB?

@@MBACrystalBall Which Master's degree would be the most suitable if one wants to get into strategic consulting?
Unlike MBA recruitment where the b-school relationship drives the process, for other masters degrees the university brand drives the relationship. So someone from (say) an ivy league university but with a non-business schools could still get on their radar, compared to an MiM or MIB grad from a non-target university.
