Hi there I'm looking to create a link to an outhouse and was planning on buying two of these. I have a really dumb question though. On the slave side in the outhouse can I connect an old WiFi router directly to this (though the Poe injector). I think I read before somewhere that you could only do this if the router can be configured as a repeater. Also can a Poe switch with multiple Poe outputs be used for these or is the Poe injector some type or proprietary ubiquiti thing. Thanks

Hi, Good to hear from you and some good questions. You can connect any device you want at the "slave" end. It just needs to support DHCP or static IP assignment on the WAN interface. Ie if you are using an old ISP's router you would plug that in (the WAN of the ISP's Router) to the LAN port of the PoE injector of the Loco5C and set it to DHCP. It will then get an IP from the router in your main property and off you go. The Loco5AC uses 24v Passive PoE. Most PoE switches that you can purchase, ie from TP Link etc, will supply 48V. This means it won't power the device at all. So short answer - if your PoE switch supports 24v Passive, then you can plug the Loco5AC directly in to it. If not then you will need to purchase a PoE injector to work with it, ie the Ubiquiti poe-24-12w-g of something like that. I hope this helps. Paul

Thanks for that. Can this wifi antenna work on mikrotik router board RB951Ui-2HnD?

This is not an antenna I am afraid It is an antenna + transmitter/receiver all built together. It is a full point to point wireless device. You can plug it in to a spare port of your RB951Ui-2HnD most certainly and use a pair of them to create a wireless bridge to another location. I hope this helps.

I want to skate Internet with a shed in my backyard. It’s about 250 ft away. Do I buy two locos, two 24v poes? I’ll then connect one side to my router that has Internet and connect the other loco as the Internet input into another WiFi router? I want with at the shed.

Hi, Thanks for your comments. Yes that is exactly what you should do. We have a video on this channel that may help further - ua-cam.com/video/ef6Ba4sSy4Y/v-deo.html as it covers what is needed to create a point to point link. I hope this helps

@@The_Tech_Geeks also, can i put the nano 5ac behind a window on each side? I'd prefer to keep them indoors if possible. I have a window-to-window line of sight - 250 ft distance.
