That’s the problem with this world today. There’s no forgiveness. All we’re out for is revenge. Scripture tells us not to seek revenge . That it isn’t ours to pursue. And yet as soon as something happens it’s the first course we seek. This hellish time we are going through could be ended with a simple three words. I forgive you! We continue to fight against each other because we refuse to forgive. Even Jesus forgave as he hung on the cross for 6 hours after being beaten and tortured beyond recognition. I hope the daughter learned that life lesson. Forgiveness comes from love and love does not hold a grudge. But before we can forgive others we have to give up the slave mentality. Slave to our past sins, slaves to our regrets, slaves to our ugly thoughts and habits. Love is patient, it is kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud. Never haughty or rude or selfish. Love hardly even notices when others do wrong. It is never glad about injustices, it rejoices when truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to them no matter what. You will always believe in them, expect the best of them, and always stand your ground in defending them. (1 Cor. 13:4-7). We are a selfish nation and when we refuse to forgive 1) we are disobeying Gods command to love one another as we love ourselves and 2) we demonstrate how selfish we are. But since this nation is also busy actively fighting to erase God from existence-which can’t be done-this mess we are in is what we are left with.
This story of forgiveness & redemption just touches me so much. The world needs more people like Mr Blakey!
just imagine for a moment - if the news media ran stories from "The Land of 10,000" stories how many lives might be changed for the better.
You tear me up, Boyd. Great story.
