It's integrated so well with the surrounding viaducts, you'd swear you're on ground level when your on the outdoor concourses. Every few years, even very recently, they've been upgrading it to blend in even better with the viaducts. Now the city wants to tear down the viaducts... I just don't get it lol. Also I love the mid 90's aesthetics the interior concourse still has. Love all the neon
For me, there was something really electric about walking into the old Coliseum... you could see and hear the rink from the concourse, and the sound of game action was pronounced and evident. It's very different inside Rogers... to me, the ice action sounds muffled, and as soon was you walk out into the concourse, you are completely separated from the game. Also, in the upper deck, your view of the ice gets severely blocked if the person seated in front of you leans forward. (But I don't miss the lousy washrooms of the old barn!)
like in my many other comments on this series, how does General Motors Place compare to the old Pacific Coliseum? And is it ok to wear a Joel Otto jersey when going to a Canucks game?
This is probably gonna be the first nhl arena I’ll visit so I can see the pens The reason I haven’t done it sooner is it’s so expensive when you factor in airfare and finding a good hotel
Yes it isn't all that cheap but depending on your budget there's options for sure. Just stay away from East Hastings. I guess unless you're into that scene!
Rinks Around the League I know Hastings is a rough part of town it’s one of those frustrating things where you’re not the one calling the shots you are not the breadwinner of the family you what I mean
Ron Burgundy say no more, say no more, nudge nudge, wink wink! If you don’t follow me on social make sure to keep me in the loop when you eventually do go!
you forgot the goal against chicago in 2011 i think it was alex burrows the place went nuts not a canucks fan i do like them tho but i think this goal was legendary among all canucks fans
It just feels like an arena. Nothing special. I feel the same thing when I walk into scotiabank arena. The saddledome feels different especially in the bowl layout. And the American Airlines Center with its roof.
I would agree. I'd say it's a bit more modern that the saddledome etc so you at least have that. You can tell by the length of the episode and the content of each episode which rinks have a lot to talk about. and although Rogers Arena is nice...there's not too much to talk about it to be honest,
I would agree, it's reached a peak and hasn't really gone past that. It was tops in the league for a while, probably in correlation with the team being a lot better and a consistent playoff performer (except when they met the Hawks haha), but since then it's levelled off. Still better than some teams but I also know they've been hurting financially over the last few seasons and it's hurt them in this area. So hopefully they can remedy this in the future. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. If you get a chance check out my others. Probably my best ones are MSG, Chicago, Rexall, Saddeldome, Bell Center. Would love to know your thoughts!
I follow you on twitter! What do you think about the presentations now? I low key reaaaally miss those drop-down transparent projection curtains from like 2014-ish.
This is the best channel ever
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! Tell your friends! haha

huh, didn't know the city was tearing down the viaducts. It's a good barn for sure!
It’s the best rink ever Let’s gooooooo
Canucks all the way!
Small concourses for sure. It gets very tight during intermissions/after the game. Shoulder to shoulder trying to squeeze through people
Yup, it's on a pretty small footprint. but it's a nice rink.
The bowls (upper especially) are built steep. It can be a workout getting to your seat if you're up in the nosebleeds.
This is my favourite building . I enjoy the concerts there too

My guess is that when the viaducts come down there will be a plan to widen the concourses.

The Golden Goal and the Dragon Slayer. Two of the greatest goals scored in that building.
yes
Orcas/Killer Whales Are Great In Western Canada!
The old Grizzlies Arena oh boy
Hahah. yup, blast from the past!

canucks are the best
Too bad their game presentation has become absolutely unoriginal and garbage in recent seasons...
You want me to change that? *wink wink*
