People who didn't grow up watching Crosby will never be able to appreciate just how dominant he was. While he certainly had his fantastic 1v1, 1v2, 1v4 etc highlights coming off the rush, he wasn't pretty and consistent like McDavid is now. Crosby was dominant in the corners and down low, plays that you'll rarely be able to find on highlight reels. It's a highly underappreciated area of the ice. And Crosby was better than anyone. There's a reason why he is often referred to as a "Superstar Grinder". During his prime, Crosby was nearly impossible to knock off the puck down low. It was something special to watch.

    • @Regalman

Our game ended with about 5 mins left in this Gold Medal game. We get off the ice, the squad is all chillen, taking our time in the locker room, thinking we're about to lose to Canada. Then our coach comes back in to tell us Parise tied it up & it's bout to go to OT. We hurry it up, then head to the lobby just in time for puck drop. It's packed to the brim with people watching. Seeing Sid the Kid score that game winner was gut-wrenching. What a moment. 😔. Congrats to all the Canadians 🙏.

The place went absolutely nuts when Sid the Kid scored. The party poured into the streets. Happiest I've seen Toronto after a hockey game. Hey did you hear about the crazy weather system that’s been developing? Meteorologists have detected another weather pattern originating from the Edmonton Area that is likely to impact Calgary and the surrounding area. Torrential rainfall is expected to impact the previously mentioned areas, likely to amount anywhere between 50-100mm. The rain has been detected to mostly consist of the tears of Oilers fans, which consists of a salty and bitter complexion. Health Canada strongly advises for all contact and consumption to be met with moderation and caution, as higher doses of second hand dihydrogen copium monoxide can potentially lead to an spiked increase in laughing at people with Oilers flags on their car as they drive by.

What a trip down memory lane. Those Olympics were such a huge thing at that time in my life, especially being from the lower mainland. I was only 9 and had mostly forgotten that game other than how it ended. Thats the only clip you ever see and its tainted by a horible goaltending play. Adding in the lead up is the only way to properly appreciate it and you've done that fantastically as always! 👏

I pat myself on the back when I remember telling my father-in-law and wife when O.T started, matter-of-factly, "Crosby is going to score in OT". It wasn't even a question in my mind. Some guys just have it in them to rise to the occasion when it matters and they are always the safe picks. Whether quietly or with swagger it doesn't matter, you just know they are going to get it done.

Such a vivid memory for me, I was 11 years old when I watched this game with my 18 year old brother at the time and his girlfriend. My brother said to me before overtime, "If Canada wins, we're going to get ice cream." We went nuts when Crosby scored and went immediately to McDonalds for ice cream. I guess two miracles happened that night, this goal and the ice cream machine was working.

This was such a fun time to be a young hockey fan. 2010 World Juniors in Saskatoon was a great buildup to the Olympics with the 2 teams facing off in prelims and then a legendary gold medal game. I remember being so hyped for the Olympics coming just a few weeks later. As an American who was in 8th grade at the time AND a Sabres fan, it was the coolest thing to see our best player in Ryan Miller steal the show at the tournament. Remember thinking, "wow they really have a chance of winning this thing" after USA won the prelim game. Got home from a bantam playoff game just in time to turn this one on with my dad, was an incredible game. While USA didn't get the win like we were hoping for, I still feel lucky to have watched this game and remember it vividly.

holy shit man.. watching back all these angles, its insane how close that play is multiple times..
First sid with the poke to iggy which is like .2 seconds from being blocked. then as he is covered by a man and falling down, iggy barely threads the needle past a recovering Rafalski's stick, only to pass it kind of behind sid.. but not only does sid recover the puck, he then goes on to beat miller (and a still valiantly trying Rafalski) in close at an awkward angle..
what an amazing play, topped off of course by the legendary call of sir Chris Cuthbert
