If you look carefully, a few of the arenas had a "3ICE" logo painted into the center circle of the ice. After a query of Google, 3ICE is a touring hockey league, comprised of six squads of players coached by former NHL players, and they play under a modified ruleset that closely resembles the NHL's overtime rules, with each team consisting of three skaters (hence the 3 in 3ICE) and a goalie. I guess it's like Ice Hockey's answer to basketball's BIG3 or Rugby Sevens.

There was something similar to this great concept in Great Britain a few years back. It involved all the teams in the Elite League at the time (there were only 8 teams back then), and it was a straight knockout format played out in one day. Unfortunately, the organisers saw fit to call it "Hoctoberfest".

Hockey's version of BIG3? Sounds like it'd be pretty fun, and probably get better turnout than BIG3 just because hockey fans tend to be more passionate than basketball fans(and I'm a person that likes basketball more than hockey).

The XL Center in Hartford was originally used by the New England Whalers of the now-defunct World Hockey Association (WHA). They were renamed the Hartford Whalers when they were accepted into the NHL in 1979. They would remain there until their relocation to Carolina in 1997.

The XL Center was formerly the Hartford Civic Center, home to the New England Whalers of the NHL rival World Hockey Association starting in 1974, after spending two seasons in Boston. After the roof collapsed in a snowstorm in January 1978 just hours after a college basketball game, the Whalers temporarily relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts while the Civic Center roof was replaced and the arena expanded from 10,500 seats to 15,000. The NE Whalers became the Hartford Whalers when the WHA merged with the NHL for the 1979-80 season, and the Civic Center reopened in early 1980.

The swords on the corners of the Humongotron, as you call it, fold out and shoot columns of fire during the Monsters intro. It's absolutely insane during Monsters playoff runs, especially considering that they take the tarps off the upper bowl and pack almost 19,000 people in there. Fun fact: Upstate Medical Arena was one of the filming sites of the original Slapshot movie from 1977. Syracuse has had several pro hockey teams but was largely considered a hockey "graveyard" until the Crunch came around. Also, the whole "Syracuse Crunch" thing is more than likely a nod to Nestle, which had a factory near Syracuse in the 1990s. Crunch was one of five names in a poll for the team's name back in 1994.
Also, it's funny how you mentioned the Royals and Clippers when you talked about Rochester and San Diego, yet failed to mention the Syracuse Nationals (now Philadelphia 76ers) while talking about Syracuse. Yes, there was once an NBA team in Syracuse NY. Also it probably would've been a good idea to mention the Knighthawks in the Rochester section since you briefly mentioned the Seals while talking about Sam Diego. Hey I never thought I'd see an arena from Belleville Ontario on your channel! Nice. I lived North of town for a decade. It used to be called the Yardmen Arena because Belleville was an important rail junction and still has a lot of train and trucking transport industry. The name Yardmen was paying respect to the railway workers. It was the home of the junior hockey team the Belleville Bulls who were located there from about 1979 until 2016 or so.
With the arena without a tennant the Ottawa Senators moved their farm team there after a refurbishment of the arena. The city of Ottawa is about 3 hours drive down the highway (what you would call a motorway), closer to 2 if you really drive fast. So it was a good place geographically for them to put their team. Besides the main arena there are 2 other rinks, an indoor track, pool and gym. Most people from that area have used those facilities at some point.
Quebexicans as you call them (lol) are called Quebecois (Kwe-beck-waz). I'm not from there but have been and I think Barre from Wilkes-Barre is pronounced Berry. Anybody from Pennsylvania can correct me if I'm wrong. I really like the style of the Lehigh Valley team arena, really unique cool design, works for me.
edit: Plural Moose are still called Moose.
Coachella is pronounced "Koh-chella" the "a" is silent like in the word coach.

Growing up 15 minutes outside of Hershey, I've been to the GIANT Center so many times. So many Bears games and other events. It's of course pretty standard, but I have a lot of love for it. Especially with hockey, for rivalry and playoff games, it gets LOUD for minor league hockey and I love it.
By the way, they used to play in the Hersheypark Arena from like 1930s to 2002. It's where I saw my first Bears games when I was anywhere from four to seven years old (1998-2002), it's where Wilt Chamberlain had his legendary 100-point game and it's where, when I worked at Hersheypark during summer in between college semesters, I could sit and eat my lunch in one of the seats lol. I'd recommend doing a video about old-time arenas like Hersheypark Arena. Ones that are no longer in use, still exist, or were demolished. I think it'd be a fun project.

The Reign still do well as far as attendance is concerned though.

1:02 Considering the team name, that would have been interesting if the Checker's chain had the naming rights. However, during the late 70s and early 80s, the St. Louis Arena (then home of the NHL's Blues) was known as the Checkerdome due to the Blues owner at the time being the CEO of Ralston-Purina, a company known for making mainly dog food. Their logo is kind of checkered.

There actually used to be seats on the stage in Syracuse. They were more like moveable bleachers that were only there for Crunch games (I never really saw them when the Silver Knights were in Syracuse before they became Utica City FC and IDK if they were used when the Smash existed since the Smash left before I was born, but hey maybe the Spark will bring them back?), removed for concerts and other shows, and they haven't returned since 2016.

Does anyone remember the shopping mall which was once attached to the arena in Hartford? I was always so fascinated by that concept, and I went to a Wolfpack game there on opening night in 2004. I was so excited I was finally going to get the chance to see it in person after all that time! Sadly that long awaited for me opportunity never came, as the mall part was in the process of being torn down when I went there. I also attended many Phantoms games at the old Spectrum in Philly, along with several 76ers game, and a Flyers game there during the 90's. I also got to go to a concert featuring Hall & Oates, The Hooters, and Todd Rundgren at the Spectrum in late 2009 as well. That and went to several B-Sens, and a single B-Devils games at the arena in Binghamton when I'd make a visit to that area. Though they sadly no longer has AHL hockey there now unfortunately.

I enjoy watching these type of video’s. I live in London,Ontario,Canada which is in-between Toronto & Detroit. We have the very popular “OHL” (Ontario Hockey League) which is for 16-20yr olds & London has the biggest “OHL” arena & i believe the biggest arena in all of junior hockey if i’m not mistaken but if not i’d say at least in the top 3 at least in which London’s arena (Budweiser Arena) holds a little over 10,000 people & the team is called the “London Knights” which is owned by the “Hunter Brothers” (Dale & Mark Hunter) & there is another “Hunter” brother (Tim Hunter) but he has nothing to do with the “London Knights” as far as i’m aware. The “Hunter Brothers” purchased the “Knights” in the late 90’s or early 2000’s & had a new arena built which was built right downtown London & is an absolutely awesome arena & their home games are every Friday evening & sometimes on Sunday’s & home games are always sold out & if not sold out then it’s pretty darn close & it’s been that way ever since that arena was built & the Knights have won two “Memorial Cups” & a couple of “OHL” league championships under the head coaching of part owner Dale Hunter who has been head coach ever since that arena was built but he didn’t coach for one season because he was coach of the Washington Capitals & Mark Hunter took over head coaching duties for a season. Anyways it would be cool if you did a video on “OHL” arenas because there are some buties such as London as i stated & Windsor now has a beautiful arena that holds around 6,500 people & a handful of other nice “OHL” arenas.

Here's what's interesting about the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. As some people in the comments mentioned, it was once the home of the Milwaukee Bucks. It was named the Mecca Arena for most of the time the team played there. When the BMO Harris Bradley Center (now demolished and replaced by the Fiserv.Forum) was constructed, that was their new home. Teams went back and forth on claiming the arena as their home, as it also went through name changes. Before the current name, the college team, UW-Milwaukee Panthers basketball bought naming rights to the arena, previously called the US Cellular Arena. All while two teams currently own their share. Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) and the Milwaukee Wave (MASL), now the UW-Milwaukee Panthers (NCAA Basketball) become three. The naming rights contract ends in a few years as the Milwaukee Admirals are next in the bid.
