I have the Laramie here in Oz also.
    Love it.
The drive over and around Fraser was effortless and very comfy.
I've lost count of the amount of people who ask me should they get a RAM or the new cruiser.
    My advice....
    The RAM.

I’m very happy with the decision so far just need to have reliable confidence and that will take time but definitely could not be happier and I’m hard bloke to convince to change

@Yeahyeah Bob I personally had zero issues and loved it.
Upgraded 3 weeks ago to the 2022 limited.
That raises the bar again to a whole different level.

Impressive review. Being a Ram 1500 owner myself, I will say that most of the comments that you will get will have to do with reliability in comparing Ram vs Toyota. So I look forward to a long term review a couple of years from now.
Personally, I have had my truck for more than 5 years now and I absolutely love it. No issues at all, but then I don't hit the trails as much as you do.
One thing that the Ram has over other Japanese dual cab trucks, is if you check the location of the back axle in comparison to the bed / loading area. It handles the loads better IMO. With something like a 79 series, you will have to get a chassis extension.

"trying out the King suspension" Im surprised it's still bolted to the truck. I just bought a 2021 Ram 1500 classic night ed. quad cab, V6 in Ontario Canada. Love it so far. Weird seeing the steering on the opposite side. I get about 12.5 litres/100 with a canopy on the bed, and Goodyear Duratrac 20 inch tires on the factory rims. Not bad. Not much worse than my Jeep Wrangler 2 door that I traded in for it. The Wrangler just didn't have any trailer towing capabilities. I love it but it didn't meet my future needs pulling a small cargo trailer camper conversion.

I have both still, 2018 Sahara exhaust, remapped plus more extras, also have DT 2021 Limited and live in the country on dirt roads, do a lot of towing and we go shooting etc. I want to love the RAM so much as it sounds great and goes great but it came with a vibration from new they cant find so its so annoying driving on the highway and its already been on the towtruck at 12,000kms as it wouldn't start for half a day on the morning of an interstate trip then miraculously started once at the garage. I'm losing confidence on the reliability and realise it could just be a 160k lemon but after 5 Saharas with no issues I don't know what to do as it is such a cool truck. We've lived in Mt Isa and done a lot of 4wding around Northern Qld so know this is good tough country to test. Good proper Aussie review though thanks :)

Petrol vs diesel in a drag the petrol will do it. Interesting to see what the petrol 200 would do against the ram. Good comparison but. Any reason u didn’t go the ram 2500? Cheers from Melbourne👍

The ram has 60,000 klm on it with lots of dirt roads and 4wd across top end of Australia more than most people ever do in the life of there vehicle I use this ram 1500 and had no reliability issues it’s extremely good on fuel for bulk of vehicle towing loaded up excellent handling on dirt roads towing
Very pleased with the Ram 1500 if you watch the fishing videos you can see where I take this car in my touring fishing UA-cam channel

@@thumburnfishing That's too bad. The lockers and the winch are easy enough to add to a different 2500, but the track bar setup gives the PW an advantage off road.

I did Fraser for a week.
20psi tyres all stock and no issues at all. Didn't even use low range once.
One track was a bit narrow but I wouldn't have taken a junker down it let alone a new RAM.
All sand conditions and it was a pleasure to drive.
