You know what I like about this group? It's very d&d, it's essentially a group of misfits coming together on a big adventure. It's also somewhat Avatar-y, with the elemental magic, we have a fire witch, an air witch, a water witch and an earth witch. Which makes Agatha the Avatar, I suppose.I love to see you having so much fun enjoying this!
Don't know if you missed it from the first episode, but when Naked Agatha woke up and was talking to Herb he said that they were essentially taking care of her while she was in her own mind. They brought her groceries and checked in on her (they weren't in the same spell, just Agatha).
A scary thought is that this might not have been the first time one of the old Westview residents had an episode where they started thinking that they were on a TV show again. So they might have a procedure where the other survivors tend to them hoping they snap out of it and do not have to be committed.
LuPone is the bomb in this. It's wild seeing an actor that's been popping up everywhere your entire life get the part of a lifetime this deep in their career and absolutely nailing it.
Patti is a singular delight, and it easy to see that she had SO MUCH fun during the filming of this! And the music continues to be an important aspect of the show. UGH - you're gonna love this so much!
One really interesting thing is how much the Ballad plays throughout the series. It was played during the ‘opening credits’ of the true crime thing in episode 1.
That's what I love about this show. I watched it when it came out and I've seen several reactors cover it.... I'm still spotting hints and Easter eggs that I missed
oh you're in for a ride (if you haven't finished the show already) and i love how you're catching on to so many thing i'm dying for others to notice on their first watch! can't wait to see the rest xo
Agatha's outfit serves the Penny Dreadful vibes that we all deserve. Each of the Salem Seven represents a different woodland animal. So, yes, each animal was a warning for Agatha. "Ballad of the Wishes Road" is also available on Spotify and UA-cam Music, btw.
5:06 That’s the “car” Agnes was driving in episode 1. The crime scene was her neighbor Herb’s fence. I’m guessing the library and police station were the house of Dottie and Jones (which is why the “police chief” kicked her out of a darkened police station) and that Wanda’s vacant house was the morgue.
@peterbrazukas7771 Right, I’m assuming Agatha was imagining the walls, just as she imagined the crime scene, car, and library and police station interiors.
On a side note and and not about the show proper: Aubrey Plaza was in a revival of an Off-Broadway play in 2023. When Patti LuPone heard this she insisted that she say at her apartment. Patti helped her adjust to being on the stage in ways that only the amazing Patti LuPone could. I also heard that Patti flew out to see Aubrey after the tragic event that just took place.
Trying not to say anything for fear of giving anything away, but recognizing Patti Lupone on sight bodes well for enjoying this series. I do enjoy returning to a space where the theories are abundant and wild
I'm so very glad that I get to experience the "first time seeing this" through your eyes (I've watched the series twice so far, and it's one of my favorites). I can't say anymore without giving spoilers, but I really like the way you're thinking as you watch...
Crows, wolves, black cats… all those animals are frequently depicted as witches’ familiars (servants) or sometimes animagi, witches in their animal form.
When you’re done with the series, I highly recommend the making of episode. They put a lot of thought into the props set and costumes and it’s fascinating
The Salem Seven were introduced in WandaVision, first in the flashback of Agatha’s where she drained the seven witches trying to bind her, and they were later named as the Salem Seven when Wanda dove into Agatha’s memory, to use it against her, but instead turned on the Scarlet Witch.
I'm so excited for you to watch the rest. What I would give to watch this for the first time again. My greatest achievement was getting the Ballad of the witches road on my spotify wrap when I only started listening to it in October. Oh btw the people of Westview knew she's Agatha but after WandaVision she was the only one still under Wanda's spell and the rest of the people basically took care of her. I mean, they all know what being under that spell felt like, and Agatha didn't really do anything TO them, it was Wanda so that's why I think they were just looking after her as Agnes.
Another great reaction. This is where the story really starts 😁. What's the difference between Agatha Harkness and Walt Disney? Agatha sings and Walt disnae 🤣🤣🤣 (wee Scottish joke there).
18:50 I saw them perform this at D23 last year and I didn’t question why they were doing because I liked the song then after watching this episode I was like, “oh ok now it make sense.”
The Salem 7 are very creepy. I love that they designed them like that. And re-watching the show after you've finished it is so good. So many twists to come.
The Salem Seven are shapeshifters, I don't think it is explain the show but is the case in the comics. So those animals Agatha sees are them spying on her.
I was late to this show as well. In fact I just finished it yesterday. It was a treat to see that you are reacting to it. I just looked up the song, The Ballad of the Witches' Road, and it looks like it was sung by the actors. I originally wondered if they did perform it, but decided they couldn't have, because the voices were so strong and there was a lot of technique in there! Anyways, when I first heard it, I rewound and pulled the speakers closer to my ears. It's really bold, theatrical and strong - really sets the mood, doesn't it?
Westview was released from the Hex, but Agatha was stuck as the sitcom nosy neighbour character, until the spell distorted and turned her perception of reality into a neo-noir detective show.

@Square-ow7oq Angela asked specifically- or do you not bother to watch the entire video- and the information is not considered a spoiler since it was put out in a lot of the promotional materials in the months prior to the shows premiere. Add to that the fact Angela is generally 4 weeks ahead on the shows she puts on UA-cam - if not done with this series entirely before this video was released - so the question should be who are you to gate-keep when questions are asked?
The Salem Seven have animal forms, but I guess they can't do much in them. Just as an alert, everyone is wrong about the black heart and the answer is very subtle in a later episode (an aside, I hate trying to read texts) Part of the the answer about Teen is sparsed out over the next three episodes, its actually not the big mystery and its silly how obvious they were going back.
In the first episode, Agatha began to see through Wanda's spell before "Teen" cast his incantation. But I think "Teen" thinks he was responsible, or at least that his incantation finished the job.
The best thing about this show is that it is something completely on its own. The references to the comics are vague and not really in line with the story of Agatha. This is something completely new and created by Marvel Studios for Marvel Studios. The comic nerds like me will need to learn to live with that because motion pictures is so much different than comic book writing. I like the little references to things in the comics but its time for Marvel to step away from relying too much on old comic storylines.
I’m pretty sure “Nicky” was written on the kid’s drawings at Agatha’s house in Episode 1. Or maybe she just made an assumption based on the most common nickname for Nicholas? 🤷♀️
It's not stated because it's not true. The animals are the Salem Seven themselves. In the comics, they look like weird animal/human hybrids. Here, they can each transform into a specific animal.

Shut it! Even saying that much is a spoiler!
Shut up, I don't get why people can't just keep their traps shut. Is it because you think it makes you look smart? Cool?

Patti LuPone delivers one of the standout performances of this show - she’s so good in this!
yes!! she’s my favorite in this, and i can’t wait for a certain episode where she really shines
And you know girly-pop is not gonna be ready for episode 7
Of course she is. She's Patti lupone!
Sasheer Zamata had a really fantastic final episode.
damn near fkn cried gurl that episode fucked me up
Calling Patti LuPone pitchy is one of my favorite moments in the series
I imagine the actress asked to deliver that line had to dig deep for the gumption to do so. 🙂
It definitely separates out the reactors who know who she is from the ones who don't :)
It's the sharp intake of breath!
To clarify, Teen said his mom saw Lorna Wu before *Lorna* died. He wasn’t saying that his mom died.
It is a confusing line, but yeah
I imagine if he had been talking about his mom, we wouldn't have heard it, because anytime he tries to tell something personal, it gets muted.
@ … holy crap, that’s a good point.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 also a casual “RIP!” in reference to his own mother’s death would be a bit strange 😭

…blue? Really? any chance ur a little colorblind? Everything about Agatha is purple. Everything.
@EasternStandardTim Ok so, no, I’m not colorblind. While the inside of that coat is purple, the outside is a dark blue and it is gorgeous.

Crows, wolves, black cats… all those animals are frequently depicted as witches’ familiars (servants) or sometimes animagi, witches in their animal form.

Translating the Latin that Teen was speaking in Agatha's interrogation room is a spell to lift a curse from another person.

I think Westview liked 'Agnes' since what little they saw of the fight in Wandavision looked like she was 'saving' them from Wanda.
It's Agatha's locket. She had it all through Wandavision.

BTW, it wasn't Teen's Mom who died, it was Lorna Wu. His mom saw her last show before her death.
