I watched this entire show in a week while I was quarantined with the virus. I was not a kid when I watched it, so I don’t yet have the same nostalgia others have for it, but as an adult who is proud to be a kid at heart, I thoroughly enjoyed its story, humor, and themes. It lives up to the hype, and I am forever grateful I watched it!
It really was a good show, with what seemed like random episodes that slowly added up to the main plot. Pretty deep stuff for kids, but as an adult I enjoyed it.
Half the characters are voiced by soos: Actually yes Alex hirch voiced: The gnomes Schmibulock Soos Gruncle stan The razzle dazzle dorito Old man mcgucket And more!
@@DAKRAB Even Dipper and Gruncle Ford have been deceived by Bill, so why do you blame Mabel and not Ford instead? He is the reason why Bill even came to that Dimension. Mabel is 12, Ford a grown adult (and a total genius).
@@lpsgameslilyanna5294 people develop at different times, dipper is more mature than most adults but that doesn't change the fact that he and Mable are children, he just doesn't act that way
I swear, this series of yours is pure GENIOUS, word by word every little detail is rearranged as a joke in an amazing, brilliant, accurate and hella funny way. Thank you, I can never have enough of these, especially this and the JoJo one
Yeah. There is a canon comic (Gravity Falls Lost Legends, I think) in which there is a huge crack where mabel gave the orb to Bill, and Dipper put a sign on it called "Mabel's fault"
I’m rewatching the series and yeah, almost Every episode involves Dipper giving up something he wants and accepting what he’s left with, while others indulge in what they really want.
FurryEskimo Oh, really? Episode 1 - Dipper saves Mabel from a cult of crazy gnomes (no sacrifice on Dipper’s part to do so). Episode 2 - Dipper & Mabel BOTH realize they were jerks to ditch Stan for a monster hunt (and the monster hunt was initially Dipper’s idea so he could be famous). Episode 3 - Dipper & Mabel solve the mystery of the murder of Wax Stan (Dipper getting to show off his cleverness by outsmarting Wax Holmes). Episode 4 - Mabel saves Dipper from a corrupt psychic who became obsessed with her & learns about proper breakups. Episode 5 - Dipper lies about being a teenager to hang with Wendy & her crew, but has to admit the truth to pacify some ghosts & save everyone. Episode 6 - Dipper learns about toxic masculinity while Mabel tries to “fix” Stan so he can hook up with Lazy Susan. Episode 7 - Dipper makes an army of clones of himself in order to orchestrate “the perfect moment” with Wendy, including stealing Robbie’s bike to sabotage his night, while Mabel gets into a party contest with Pacifica Northwest to defend her new friends. Episode 8 - Dipper & Mabel solve a centuries-old mystery to prove themselves smart, serious Mystery Twins & put Pacifica in her place, but Mabel winds up solving most of the clues by virtue of her out-of-the-box thinking. Episode 9 - Dipper steals a time machine from a time anomaly preventer in order to win Wendy a prize without hitting her in the face so she won’t go out with Robbie, and Mabel joins him on his time-scapades for moral support & to relive winning her pig Waddles (FAIR AND SQUARE IN EVERY TIMELINE, BTW), but when Dipper gets his “perfect moment” at the cost of said pig he refuses to let his sister go back & set things right. Episode 10 - Dipper brings a video game character to life to fight Robbie in his place (which he & Mabel acknowledge is cheating, but Dipper has no qualms) Episode 11 - Dipper gets salty about being shorter than Mabel & invents a magic flashlight to make himself taller. Episode 12 - Dipper tries to fake being sick so he can avoid trick-or-treating with Mabel, gets himself, Mabel, Candi, and Grenda in trouble with a terrifying monster who threatens to eat them unless they bring him candy, initially sabotages their candy-obtaining mission with his bad attitude, and dumps all the candy down a ravine so he can avoid being caught trick-or-treating by Wendy & Robbie. Need I go on?
@@ztslovebird what about the sock opera episode? You must have known it already yeah? What Mable did to dipper? Oh ooh and heres another one, what about the time when she gave the orb to bill cipher and fucking start the whole weirdmageddon thing?
Can you lend a nigga a pencil? No, they’re pretty even on the jerk scale. Dipper was the one who insisted they ditch Stan’s fishing trip to hunt the Gobblewonker. Dipper pissed off the convenience store ghosts & got them to escalate their haunting. Dipper’s the one who always suggests cheating, whether by getting a video game character to fight his battles for him or by bribing a bunch of Lilliputtians to sabotage Pacifica & help Mabel win at mini golf. Dipper summoned a zombie hoard (without knowing there was no way to get rid of zombies) just to prove to a couple of feds that his book was real. Dipper was going to let Bill lobotomize Stan because of some out-of-context memory. Dipper created a bunch of time paradoxes because he couldn’t let Wendy live her own life & make her own choices. Dipper would’ve left Robbie alone & miserable in the cemetery so nothing would interfere with his place in Wendy’s friend group. Dipper would’ve shut off the Portal, leaving Ford forever lost in the Multiverse & absolutely DESTROYING Stan! And not because he believed it was a Doomsday device, but because he was pissed Stan lied about the Journals. But Mabel always gets labeled as “the bad twin.”
@@jakoblent4694 She doesn't really learn her lessons between episodes if you really pay attention. Quoting someone else, "she actively forgets the lessons she learns because she is afraid of change". And being 12 isn't really much of excuse to replace and exile her brother into the apocalypse that YOU started! If Dipper did half of the terrible things Mabel did I would be annoyed by him too.
@zombies4evadude24 dipper literally stole someone's time traveling ruling tape to get a good timeline, was willing to let a mermaid boy not find his way home, nearly had someone DIE to a video game character all because he had a crush on wendy. he was CONSISTENTLY selfish when it came to her. also 'mabel started the apocalypse' literally NONE of this would have happened if ford didn't summon bill or told mabel about the rift. try again.
“LITERALLY the Devil calls her out on it-!” Yyyep. Edit: WHY DID I GET THESE LIKES, I JUST QUOTED THE F*CKING VIDEO?! Edit: Edit: So, I saw someone say that those criticizing Mabel are wrong now that Lost Legends is out and goes through with that. No. It doesn’t count. It should’ve happen in the show. It’s a nice bandaid, but it isn’t what should’ve happen, and it’s still okay to criticize the show for letting a character get away with acting how she did. Is gravity falls still one of the best animated shows to have aired in recent years? Yes. Mabel was still a selfish child in comparison to how responsible and selfless Dipper was in the end _of the show._
Seriously though his venting about how crappy mabel actually was I wholeheartedly agreed with. Like SHE LITERALLY TRIED TO MAKE HER BROTHER GIVE UP ON EVERYTHING HES EVER KNOWN TO JUST BE IN THIS EVIL DREAM BUBBLE!
Yeah but in the book Journal 3 which is an actual book she says how horrible she was and says she owes him, and In the book Gravity falls lost legends in the chapter titled Don't dimension it she realizes she is a total jerk and feels bad about herself and then beats up a more evil version of herself and even confessed she started Weirdmageddon to get more summer because she was selfish, and at the end I think she goes somewhere with Dipper to make up for it. What a punch in face that must been, plus karma catching up to her. Ah, congrats I guess Mabel
@@OMGTheYkilledKennyUbastardsthose are true and usually I can forgive anything a character does in a series if they improve over time, improving after the series ends is just too late. She should have gotten that arc in season 2, then I wouldn't have a problem
@@breaderikthegreat3224 You're right, but she was based off Alex's sister so I mean, I guess she was supposed to be annoying and boy crazy, really do wish she had a character arc where she was a bit more apologetic and realizes how horrible she's been to Dipper.
1:15 Sad that he's not wrong. They thought of doing Wendy themed episodes but always put them on the backburner, treating her character development as a minor issue and instead just made her a love interest for Dipper as her role in most episodes. They could have easily gave her a bigger role in other episodes that didn't revolve around that, like implementing a scrapped heist subplot into the Soos & the Real Girl episode, because the final version of it isn't all that different.
Honestly I loved Mabel in the beginning but like you said the longer the series went on she never learned or grew as a character and what's more she always put Dipper down or bullied him into insecurity, but the second she was upset she made Dipper drop everything in order to help her even at the cost of his own happiness which she doesn't seem to acknowledge or reflect on after the fact.
I didn't realise how self-centered mabel was until i watched this and looked at what some people were saying in the comments- This'll provide a fun argument for me and a friend later
Mabels amazing She has a habit of being selfish, but she does her best to fix this, (as shown in Lost Legends) , she keeps Dipper grounded in reality, makes sure hes taking care of himself, being an actual kid I like to think of it as, Dipper went a week without Mabel helping/keeping up on him, and he made a deal with the literal devil As Alex said himself :) Mabel realizes Dippers quest to be mature is, in itself, immature
@@nmtltlz oh so she never said sorry and just started the end of the world holding dipper back and not even saying sorry sure that's called fixing everything i mean yeah she did help a little but really is a jerk
@@GamerGamerGamer77777 She was a childish 12 year old girl at the beginning of the series, at the end she learns how to mature and grow, she realizes herself how selfish she was in Lost Legends, amd I appreciate that about her. As for starting the apocolyspe, Bill is v e r y good with humans. He chose the exact moment she was at her lowest to exploit her deepest desire, to never grow up, to never change. Shes very obviously terrified of change, shes too scared to leave her literal bubble. She was just a 12 year old girl who was given the opportunity to never deal with hardship. Whilst it wasnt right if her, I dont blame her for taking the deal, she didnt even know it w a s Bill. If she had known what the rift could do I dont doubt she wouldve protected it with her life.
*I feel like Marbles Makes Everyone Else have Character Development but she Doesn’t have That much Character development lol* Edit: *Guys please stop correcting it to say Mabel, I said Marbles because that’s the name in the video, I thought it was funny but I guess it isnt? 🥲*
I want to clarify my views on Mabel, just for the record: I don't think Mabel's issue is that she's a terrible character or anything. The problem is that when her actions cause the conflict in an episode, she's just MUCH worse about it than Dipper. Season 1 is mostly about Dipper's flaws and how he has to learn lessons to better himself and help his sister and others. When Dipper's flaws drive an episode it's usually something like "I wanted to try talking to people" or "I want people to think I'm cooler." Dipper always learns something at the end and becomes a better person as the show goes on. You can really see his development. Mabel's problem is not her selfishness, it's that she never learns anything or develops. The Mabel at the end of the series and the Mabel in the first episode are almost exactly the same. If Dipper's does something wrong it's something like witholding information from Wendy or not achknowleding his own faults. Y'know, Human things. When Mabel's doing something wrong it's something like holding a group of boys hostage because she thinks they're cute and wants them to herself or stealing a time machine she doesn't understand and fucking with the past so she can reclaim a pig she's owned for literally an hour. Her actions are MUCH worse than Dippers, and she rarely learns anything from them. *[SPOILERS]* This comes to a head in Weirdmaggedon Pt 2 when Mabel keeps everyone in her bubble because she refuses to grow or let Dipper follow his dreams and become Ford's apprentice. Maybe she was under a spell, maybe the world infected her too, but what matters is that in the end the writers still chose to have Dipper refuse Ford's offer, even though nothing in the episode really implied he should. It was just a way to say "Well, instead of Mabel accepting things and learning to be more selfless Dipper will just give what he wants. Again." It was a bad way to end Mabel's... character arc? Which is a shame, because the parallel between her and Dipper and Stan and Ford was really well done. It's the one thing I don't think was executed especially well.
I can completely see that. I get that Dipper is supposed to be the main character but everyone else that had as much screentime as Mabel came out with much more development in the end. I can see her side of things too though. The future is uncertain and she's scared of growing up.
Why.... why does everyone forget that Marbels, i mean Mabel, is a 12 y/o. Of course she's immature and selfish, have you ever been to a middle school??
12 year olds still understand right and wrong. She gave something that wasn’t hers to someone she shouldn’t trust and it nearly ended the world. She refused to return to reality until Dipper agreed to all her demands. The problem isn’t that she’s selfish. Characters can be flawed. The problem is that they need to improve or be punished for their wrongdoings, not rewarded.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483NO, THEY FUCKING DON'T! THEY'RE 12! THAT'S NOTHING! God, why is it that teenage girls have to always be perfect all the time or they're monsters with you people? Almost like you hate women or something...
Mabel: gets the world where she gets everything she wants and tries to kick her brother out after wanting to save his town and friends and almost let the “citizens” of the world kill him Dipper: gives up everything, love, happiness, friends, time, so that Mabel can get her happiness such as the pig, her 10 BFs, and making fun of dipper into insecurity I mainly felt sorry for dipper throughout the show because everyone made fun of him for being smart and weak and young. Dipper didn’t even get Wendy, but Mabel got her pig. Dipper didn’t get the scholarship with Ford because Mabel wanted otherwise which caused that whole scenario. Mabel can be so selfish Edit: I would also like to point out Mabel made a different Dipper that was “better” because his loyalty and support wasn’t enough for her even though she wasn’t supportive of him at all with the apprenticeship. Like imagine someone who you love and support unconditionally thought you weren’t enough so they made a different you who was up to there standards.
Literally Mabel caused Weirdmageddon. Like that's some serious red flags in character flaws. 😥 I felt like Dipper the whole time because my twin and I are pretty similar to the two. Except she isn't overly happy and sparkly, but I still have to give up things for her. I eventually just put my foot down when it got to the point I couldn't pay my rent.
Animelover 267 I’m so sorry. Maybe instead of giving in, put your foot down and firmly say no. Tell them how much money they now owe you for everything you’ve given up
Fun fact: Mabel is 12. Also, Dipper didn't really have to give up anything for her except for his imaginary "chance" he thought he had with Wendy. She's the one constantly getting bulldozed so Dipper can have his way, but we see it from Dipper's point of view so he doesn't see it that way. I just don't get why people go out of their way to vilify her so much when she's nothing but a ball of sunshine for most of the show.
"She's totally selfish all the time..and, THEY BRING IT UP IN UNIVERSE AND NEVER GETS RESOLVED. BUT LITTERALLY THE DEVIL CALLS HER OUT ON IT AND AND.. Gravity falls is the best western," IM DEAD (edit: i'm surprised how much likes his got!)
Honestly, I can sort of relate to Mabel on a few instances and understand why she acts the way she does. First off, to get the most obvious argument out of the way, girlie is literally a child. She is 12. Mabel is very very tiny and very very selfish. When I was 12, hell even when I was 13, I was the biggest asshole ever, manipulating every adult I saw just to guilt-trip them so I wouldn’t get in trouble. I didn’t like change, either. And when it came to my little brother who I knew had/has anxiety, I didn’t give him a pass either. Mabel isn’t really selfish in most cases, she’s just insecure, confused, and scared. If I were 12 and in a situation where my brother was abandoning me at the end of the summer when everything else that day was going wrong and was being told that I just had to deal with it because that kinda shit happens, well… If I saw an easy out like what Mabel was offered before Weirdmaggedon, I would’ve taken it, no questions asked! I still would! We’re human, we are at our core extremely selfish. It’s in our nature to be selfish. We’ve just been pushing down than selfishness for decades because of the concept of society and togetherness and other stuff like that. I’m not saying all the blame for Weirdmaggedon doesn’t fall on Mabel because she was given multiple chances to change and she only did so after the literal apocalypse, but she was 12 years old when it all happened. Mabel was 12 when she thought her world was crumbling apart. What 12-year-old do you know in real life that hasn’t been scarred by the internet or didn’t grow up too fast that wouldn’t be a little bit selfish all the time?? As for Dipper, I think he’s his own special case. It’s like what Ford said in that same episode. Not many 12-year-olds can say they’ve done or experienced the things Dipper has, and not many are as selfless or fearless as he is. People point out multiple times in the show that Dipper is extremely smart for his age. Anywhizzle I’m so sorry for killing the mood with this monster of a comment. I’ve just seen a ton of Mabel hate recently and I just got around to finishing the show and I personally don’t see where it’s all coming from. I genuinely enjoyed this video, it was hilarious, and the art is obviously amazing. Now if you’re gonna leave a debate in the replies, don’t attack each other just to prove a point. Thank you so much for reading this thing cuz I know it’s fuccin long. 😅 Have a great day/night!
1:55-2:20 Holy shit that is a braindead take regarding Mabel and her stories IMO. Like I get that it seems “oh shit Mabel is making Dipper sacrifice his wants”, but in reality, the wants that Dipper have are artificial (like wanting to appeal to his babysitter-esque crush, Wendy, etc), compared to Mabel who wants to help people like Waddles and Mermando and understands that they will get positive consequences. Dipper uses the lessons that he has learned from HIS disappointments and understanding that he tries to grow up so fast to help Mabel out of her funk. And you forget that Mabel, a kid, was manipulated into unleashing Weirdmageddon by Bill Cipher, after having the worst day of her life so there’s that. Super dumb to blame her for that. To criticize Mabel for being selfish would be to criticize Dipper for being selfish, too.
Are you really going to blame Dipper for having crush on his babysitter, but will say nothing about Mabel keeping for herself boys in their 20's? And to be fair, Dipper really are learning from his mistakes, unlike Mabel, yeah-yeah, she learn how selfish she was this entire summer, but that was in the comic, not in the show.
In the most important piece of Gravity Falls lore titled "Call Me Mabel," she says some shit about how she wants "literally any boy to call her except Gideon," so you've got a point.
Dipper : *litterly just broke the rules, doing a favor for mable, making him lose his job* Mable: *takes picture of him kissing another boy as blackmail* Yeah, Mable is a terrible person.
@@mochatea-fr1cf Except she did. In the episode the deep end. Sure it wasn't kissing, it was CPR, but she also says how he had his first kiss in that same episode. She takes a photo of him and chuckles while saying blackmail. There are different ways people spell their name and I honestly don't really care how her name is spelled.
@@kaceyyoung9687 does she ever do anything about it though? I don't think it was actual blackmail I think she was just messing with him at siblings do. Don't get it twisted, that doesn't mean she's not a jerk, but not necessarily a jerk in that particular instance.
kacey young i’m saying that it repeatedly says mabel’s name how SHE spells it in the show, and making a debatable statement without having watched the show enough to spell it correctly...never mind, geez
Oh come on, give the girl a *little* credit. Remember that time when she saved Pacifica from those evil golfballs and then shared those car tacos with her, despite her hating Mable’s guts? Or when she wanted to erase her own memories but then learned that it’s best that she keeps them? Or when she ruined her own puppet show and her chances with Gabe to help Dipper? Sure, she’s selfish at times, I’ll give you that. But we can’t just ignore all the good stuff. She’s learned some things, too!
Yeah. Besides, in many of the episodes where Dipper gives up stuff, he’s pretty often at fault. Like when Dipper wants Mabel to let her pet die so he can win Wendy’s affection, or when he’s reluctant to help Mermando see his family again because if he does he’ll lose his job with Wendy. Heck, even in Mabel’s worst episode, the penultimate one of the series where she wants to stay in her bubble and never grow up, Dipper’s almost as much at fault as she is. (Almost, because the part about her abandoning Dipper and replacing him with Dippy Fresh was going way too far. They could’ve had him almost pushed out without making it Mabel’s decision.) By taking Ford’s apprenticeship opportunity he would be leaving his sister and his childhood behind. Like the show creators say in the podcast, Dipper is always trying to grow up as quick as possible, and you could say the episode where he almost leaves her for Ford is *his* worst episode. They both have the opposite flaws: Dipper tries to grow up too fast, and Mabel wants to stay the same forever. While I do think the people working on the show definitely could’ve illustrated this point better, (and again, that whole “replacing Dipper” thing was going way too far) Mabel is definitely not as bad as people make her out to be. Sorry for writing so much, it just always bugs me when people exaggerate how bad Mabel is and make her out to be a selfish jerk. She is more selfish than Dipper, but she always has good intentions and is still a good person.
Yeah, remember that time when she and Stan bullied Dipper simply because he is better at her at things because she makes no effort at all to learn anything? Or when she lies to Dipper and costs him his summer job dream due to 10th crush of the week? What about when she is literally about to give the dimensional demon all he wants and perhaps give up on Dipper's body simply because of 12th crush of the week? What about that one time when she dooms the entire town for purely selfish reasons and then is about to throw her brother out for those same selfish reasons until he gives up everything he wants for his future just for her? Oh wow, kinda bleak.
damn, dipper accepting the apprenticeship to ford would've been awesome. but mabel just, i know it hurts for her but god damn give dipper some happiness

Exactly! Mabel should’ve been supportive of him if she really loved him! Instead if dipper went with Mabel, she would just make him give up more amazing opportunities for her
2:17 if it makes you feel better, mable realizes this herself in a comic. She only realizes it however after spending some time with other dimensional versions of herself.
Mabel gives something that isn’t her to a person she shouldn’t trust because she can’t accept that dipper can choose, for himself, how to live his life. And the payoff for this is him saying he would do what she wanted, and only then does she decide to stop being one of the literal final antagonists. He always gives things up for her way, way more frequently. When he does something selfish, the narrative punishes him until he gives it up. When Mabel does something selfish, the narrative at best will have her lose the thing she wanted (not have her give it up, just have her lose it), and at worst rewards her for it.
Yay, I thought I was the only one that felt that Mabel could suck sometimes! Now someone popular agrees with me! This makes everything I say ever completely true
Glad I'm not alone in noticing the seeming lack of progression in Mabel's character in the latter half of the series. Of course I enjoy her still because she's just so damn charming, but it did irk me that she essentially learned nothing for the better part of season 2.
thewhatness I'd argue that she did. Season 2 was all leading up to her learning that she has to move on and grow as a person. Quick thing to point out Bill didn't lie to Mabel one bit. He gave her everything she wanted. Bill is an interesting character.
thewhatness Honestly? I've thought about it and I kind of like it, because that makes her a mirror of Stanley later. His brother tried so hard to help him and he doesn't give a fuck, continuing to argue and ignore Stan. Plus she's literally 12. She's the embodiment of what we think of kids as. Loud, obnoxious, and they don't learn. Dipper is her foil, intelligent and self sacrificing. They're caricatures of the ends of a spectrum of children. And unfortunately: sometimes people just don't change. That's probably too deep but this was also a show that was full of codes, ciphers, a whole arch about whether or not there was a twin brother, an additional secret website, and a real life scavenger hunt for a physical statue of Bill Cipher. Alex was a little extra.
It's part of why I gave up on one of my friends, it sounds vain to call myself smarter but they just don't have my drive to learn and expect things to be easy so I just kinda gave up trying to be there for them when they didn't want to change and grow instead of staying in the past
Yeah, I get annoyed when people say that Mabel is their favorite character only because she never learns to sacrifice for her brother except that one time in the puppet episode
1:55 “The writers take the best character and gradually make her the worst character by having her learn NO lessons for 40 episodes. yes but it took her fighting a evil clone to know what she had done not to mention thats after the show was even finished as it took place after bill took over
Theory (According to this): Waddles and Toby are the authors. Stan is in denial. Dipstick is crazy. Marbles likes making things difficult (ex. Liking every boy EXCEPT the one that actually likes her). If you have all the journals you get... A participation award! And so does everyone else, because that's how it works, apparently (What is this, Russia?). Dr. Soos lives in the alien bunker. Stan hates cops. Bill is controlled by the authors, so he has powers but also doesn't. Every shade of yellow leads to Bill's secret stash of childr- er, doritos. Half the cast is voiced by Bill and Dr. Soos. Just a theory.
You basically roast the shit out of my favorite show 😂😂😂 but i love every single one of your videos some people taking these seriously need to take a chill pill it's just a good comedy
pretty spot on about Wendy, it seems the writers didn't know what to do with her anymore after Into The Bunker. Her sole purpose throughout the show is basically become someone who Dipper pined for. After they conclude that, she's basically just.....being herself without character arc, like being cool and badass. Even Soos had his own character arc, fucking Pacifica has her own character arc. She has a family, and also mentioned she always feels stressed around them, so why didn't make an episode based on that issue, it'll develop her character more. So I'm sorry fans, but Wendy is just a missed opportunity to me.
I liked Wendy, but I definitely agree that she could've been better. She still turned out as a cool character i thought, but her character's another reason I think season two should've been about 25 or 26 episodes. Mabel and Fords characters are the other reasons. Mabel was still amazing and a big part of why the show was so much fun to watch for me. I think people make it sound like she's more selfish than she is, but I do agree with the people that say her character could've been handled better during the ending (even if do wish people would realize that her character is a twelve year old). I think an episode where she acknowledges to herself that she can be bit selfish and devotes that day to trying to helping dipper get what he wants out of the summer might have made a good episode. Maybe it just sounds better in my head than it is, but something like that might've been good to have before Dipper and Mabel vs the future.
It did always bug me that Mable could just be such a pain in the ass the entire series and not have to own up to any of it. She is constantly making fun of Dipper, getting him in trouble, or causing half the problems that they get into, and he constantly has to give up what he wants to do for her. Then in the end when he is given this great opportunity he gives it all up because literally Mable is so selfish she will just let the world end, and he resigns to give up all his stuff with Ford to baby sit her for the rest of their life until she probably gets tired of him or finds someone knew and decides she doesnt need him anymore.
Well, there is dont dimension it in the lost legends It is canon to the series and it happens after weirdmageddon Basically mabel actually improves as a character by simply putting her with infinite versions of herself that act just like her They didn't cause the same apocalypse but they are all in their own zone instead of focusing on escape And mabel is the one to realise that And get a taste of her own medicine in the process while also facing the evil version of herself
@@t1rkb841while this is great that she gets character development, giving it to her in the last Page of the last Story we have with her up to this day is just far too late. She should've gotten it in Season 2

Pines' Hazel Videos oh I'm sorry, when you're the age of childhood, you just casually joke about something that controls people and manipulates them. Mabel even started the entire apocalypse just because she couldn't go to high school. I know she was tricked, but she literally wanted the entire town of gravity falls to be frozen in time just so she couldn't go to school. That's literally the definition of selfishness. She also never thinks of dipper when she obtains a boyfriend, like she didn't need to take a picture of mermando and dipper kissing, and she was the person suggesting for dipper to give mermando cpr, so basically she wanted to blackmail him. A twelve year old isn't putting an entire town under a control or blackmailing people normally. You don't just put aside her manipulation as "oh she's young and doesn't know better"
It’s funny that they actually do focus on the colours in production for some episodes, specifically in Not What He Seems they had colour schemes continually fade towards more sunset and night tones to show the passage of time

Episode 10 - Dipper brings a video game character to life to fight Robbie in his place (which he & Mabel acknowledge is cheating, but Dipper has no qualms)
Episode 11 - Dipper gets salty about being shorter than Mabel & invents a magic flashlight to make himself taller.

Eh the scenes she had were good enough
Honestly I loved Mabel in the beginning but like you said the longer the series went on she never learned or grew as a character and what's more she always put Dipper down or bullied him into insecurity, but the second she was upset she made Dipper drop everything in order to help her even at the cost of his own happiness which she doesn't seem to acknowledge or reflect on after the fact.

I want to clarify my views on Mabel, just for the record:
I don't think Mabel's issue is that she's a terrible character or anything.
Yes I can understand that
ni
GILDOREY LOCKHART XD THATS SO ACCURATE
I can completely see that. I get that Dipper is supposed to be the main character but everyone else that had as much screentime as Mabel came out with much more development in the end. I can see her side of things too though. The future is uncertain and she's scared of growing up.

I mainly felt sorry for dipper throughout the show because everyone made fun of him for being smart and weak and young. Dipper didn’t even get Wendy, but Mabel got her pig. Edit: I would also like to point out Mabel made a different Dipper that was “better” because his loyalty and support wasn’t enough for her even though she wasn’t supportive of him at all with the apprenticeship.

Honest to god I think how someone sees Mable is a good indication on if they have basic media literacy her arc is not that hard to understand
@@JlBUNROCK Her arc is supposed to be a foil to Dipper’s arc. Dipper learns not to grow up too fast, Mabel learns to not to grow up too slowly.

Dipper and Mabel are equally as selfish through the show for the most part tbh

Alex was a little extra.
but kids do learn.

Soos. pretty spot on about Wendy, it seems the writers didn't know what to do with her anymore after Into The Bunker.
I don't really dislike Wendy, but she was always the least interesting of the supporting cast.
I feel like a lot of character arcs where left half finished.
