Bobby played on a record I made 1979 Shelter Records Hollywood." Jimmy Lewis and the Checkers ",. Got to hang with Bobby on multiple occasions... always a Blast....Did some sessions with Joe Cocker that Bobby played on as well .. the best Rock n Roll sax player ever !! and great dude!!
The video clip at the start of this interview was Bobby Keys playing with Hot Rocks in Chicago. It was an honor to have Bobby Keys play 2 shows with Hot Rocks that weekend. Such a talented interesting man. RIP Bobby Keys.
I had the pleasure of living in nashville back in the late 80s early 90s when bobby lived there. We played some of the same clubs. Bobby was one of the nicest guys you would ever hope to meet. Much like this video but maybe with a few more drinks in him.
He was a Polite Gentleman... about Humble? I couldn't answer that as it was a short visit and he was constantly in and out. Always working, doing sessions, gigs, running his club and so on. It's not like we were FBG's or anything like that. I was the one humbled by his compliments on my ability to play harmonica. When a Sax player likes the harp guy, well that means something.
Bobby was the Man! Anybody that don't think so needs to listen to "Can't Ya Hear me Knocking" Keep in mind this sax solo is from a man that doesn't read music. He's playing from th' gut, He's playin' form the Heart. R.I.P. Bobby..................You're playing.. you blowing that horn, will be heard for Ages!! My prayers to the family. ........... He was a Great man. Heaven's Rockin' tonight Ya'll!
I had the privilege and the Honor of being invited to play on stage with Bobby Keys. He saw me sitting in at a Music Bar in Miami called "Tobacco Road" and waved me over to the table after. The bar manager introduced me...he shook my hand and said "really nice tone you got man..." That meant more to me then just about anything else could have. He'd complimented me as a musician, not some big shot or little snot. I don't know how my head didn't explode right there. He then totally out of the blue invited me to come by his nightclub the following week (known as "Woody's On the Beach" in Miami Beach Florida) and as I walked on the stage to sit in out of the side door comes none other then Ronnie Wood. Again how my head didn't explode right there is beyond me. I was so floored that when I was done, I left the stage and just hid quietly at the bar for an hour. Never got to meet Ronnie, but who cares... Bobby Keys was exactly like this interview...a regular guy, nice as could be, funny as hell, and obviously humble in spite of his crazy Daze with the Stones. That experience is for me one of the top 3 adventures in my entire life, and so honored to have been "Invited" by this wonderful man. and musician. (I still get a bit winded when I remember that period...)
Love bobby. Played it..like he felt it. He even played on return to sender. Unbelievable. Tge stories he must have. Getting fired by mick Jagger. For falling asleep in his hotel bathtub. In dom. Pereigon..champagne.. n charged it to the stones hotel bill..lol. bobby.played on so many ico ic songs. Played on my favorite George Harrison song.. What is life??? Hanging out with lennon.. r.i.p. Mr. Keys..
Bobby meeting and becoming a regular within the Stones had to of been destiny. His horn, which can be heard on a vast number of Stones songs, enhanced and completed those songs. Amazing the impact on and or with the Stones. Bobby & Keef being born on the same day same year? Well, if that ain't destiny, my fellow rock n roll outlaws?, .......then i don't know what is! It's only rock n roll
What a sax player, and what a character. I can totally see why Keith Richards became buddies with him. He was the perfect partner in crime for Keith. I could listen to Keys tell stories all day.
Casino Boogie, an almost forgotten one, never played live... lovely licks and great groove, also it's got these Burroughsian cut-up lyrics and Keith's reedy harmony singing - a crucial, now sadly, but understandably, missing element of the Stones sound back then. R.I.P. Bobby
Otro stone más en la carrera,al escuchar aBobby cuándo se fusiona con Taylor en ecos de mi onda es súper fantásticos Yo soy Raúl Huertas el rolling stones
Reading his wonderful book at the moment...beautiful guy, best rock n' roll sax man ever along with the great King Curtis...RIP

Who the he!! are the 4 people who down voted this video. If you can't like Bobby Keys, you have no rock 'n Roll in you.

What a life story Bobby had, wouldn't you have loved to been riding along with him back in the day.
1,719 views....1,500 of them are me. I can't get enough of this. I havent stopped laughing since the first time I saw it.

Grande favoloso sax Bobby Keys !!!!!!!!!
I'm going to miss seeing Bobby on the stage.
Bobby reminds me of Geirge Jones. Both gifted , both Southern men , both completely crazy
Otro stone más en la carrera,al escuchar aBobby cuándo se fusiona con Taylor en ecos de mi onda es súper fantásticos Yo soy Raúl Huertas el rolling stones
That's my Frog! LMFAO!
Talk like a southern Nascar guy.
The interviewer looks exactly like Ed Warren, the famous demonologist.
Huge huge loss RIP
What a life.
Thank you!
