Thanks so much for this, Jet was a brilliant bass player and although he had his demons has was a great character in the music industry along with being a great guitarist. The pic showing Billy Fury, Joe Brown and Adam Faith along with Jet and Tony is a great illustration of British popular music masters! RIP Jet and thank you for the fabulous sounds you gave us!
Yes he had everything going for him and couldve gone far but guess we all have our vices, none of us are perfect Derek ☺👍 So pleased you enjoyed it my friend ❤
Someone of my brothers era. He seemed to have small man syndrome helped with alcohol and a smoker not a good combination. Thank you for that best get to sleep now it being 1.17am UK time ❤❤
Yes such a waste of talent and potential 💔 I imagine getting on stage would be daunting also which leads so many to substance abuse. Thank you for watching so late Jayne and really hope you are enjoying the holidays ❤️🎅🎀🤗👍
I learned about Jet Harris a few years ago. Sadly, alcoholism destroyed a promising career. Cool photo with Little Richard and Sam Cooke (you should make episodes about both). So much good music from the UK in the 1950s went unnoticed here in the States. I wasn't even around.
Those days were certainly a buzz in the UK as they were in the US too ❤️ What exciting time for music the 60's were! I absolutely adore Sam Cooke and his voice is like honey. Chain Gang is my absolute fave! Will definitely do a vid on him soon 🤗 Unfortunately, my recent coverage of US artists hasn’t been getting much attention, which is a bit discouraging 😥 I tend to focus on underrated artists, one-hit wonders, or those I feel deserve more recognition, even if they don’t appeal to everyone. For me, it’s never been about featuring the most popular musicians for guaranteed views-it's always been about the artist and the music. At the same time, I want to ensure my audience enjoys the content too, which can make it a bit tricky to balance sometimes 🤔 At the end of the day as long as everyone is happy I'm truly happy... Music is my LOVE ❤️🎵 Thanks for watching and commenting as always my friend 🥰👍
As a teenager in the late 60's, maybe 1970 I cant remember, I holidayed with a few mates in a caravan park at Selsey Bill on the south coast near Bognor and someone told us that one of the barmen there was Jet Harris, Ive no idea if it was or not but after watching this I guess it could have been.
I liked Jet. Also liked the fact he went against the butter-wouldn't-melt image of The Shadows, crafted to back Cliff. Norrie Paramour had a lot to answer for.
Thank you for sharing your memories of Jet 🥰 I can't help but feel if that accident didn't happened his life would have been so different. A string of bad luck just seemed to follow after that sadly 😓 It goes to show in life nothing is promised and in a split second everything can change. Thank you again Colin for commenting and watching, much appreciated my friend 💯💕
Hi. Would you do a report on John Rostill, bass player of the shadows. My understanding Hank Marvin viewed him as a complete 'Shadow '. enjoy your work. Thanks Joe, Sydney Australia.
Thanks so much Joe I really appreciate it 🥰 Unfortunately, there’s not enough accessible information on him to create a video. Do you have anyone else in mind and I will see what I can do 😊👍
John Rostill fut le meilleur bassiste, le plus complet et souple de tous; j'étais très ami avec Licorice, mais John était le plus talentueux de tous les bassistes ayant travaillé avec les Shadows. Un musicien remarquable.
You mentioned a”cool photo” of him with Sam Cooke and Little Richard but you ignored Gene Vincent who is on the same picture Vincent was the coolest man on that pic
After Jet, The Shadows was just a shadow of itself. Its most creative period was over and it regressed into a band making instrumental covers of other's music.
The replacements of Jet & Tony were simply hired hands imo although must admit Brian Bennett is a great drummer & percussionist and John Rostill (who sadly died from electrocution in his home studio I believe) was a good bass player but without the charisma of Jet
Sadly the inquest verdict was suicide from barbiturate poisoning. I seem to remember reading articles at the time stating electrocution was the accidental cause of death.

I met Jet when he was on the Marty Wilde tour.He was a GREAT bloke..
Oh that's so nice 🥰
What a fantastic video have a great weekend also I think Jet Harris is a legendary fantastic musician ❤😊
Thank you so much, I hope you have a great one too! ❤️
Jet...was a very good bass guitar player!
Saw Jet twice on stage in the Isle of Wight, an amazing guy. We got a video of one of the gigs which we played when we heard he had died.
Lucky to have the video of him to remember him by 🤗💕
I think he lived there.

I will drink to that whiskey 🥃 please hold the ice ❄. Because it takes up too much space in the glass 🍸. Cheers 🥂

One of the best Bass guitarists of his time. R. I P.Jet.

and Gene Vincent, if I'm not mistaken.
Jet was a boyhood hero with the Shadows.it takes me back to my school days I was very young and the British music scene was ablaze with great sounds
@@alfching2499 They were exciting times 🥰❤
HI, i met him in The Netherlands 20 years ago. He played a view numbers with The Rapiers. Cool man.

Yes most certainly may have been! 😁👌
Great job as usual. I guess the obvious next choice would be Tony Meehan.
Thank you so much and noted 😁👍❤

Jet was nice bloke with a great sense of humour...
I worked with Jet after the accident. I engineered his attempted return album. He was a nice guy, but never the same after the crash.
That's interesting you worked with Jet and good to hear you mention him as being a nice guy

❤❤❤
The instrumental Diamonds is the tune he is most famous for.
What about the bass solo in 'Nivram'? Or, the the pushy bass lines in 'kontiki'?
And Scarlet OHara!! Great Instrumental.
I was born in the same hospital as Jet.

What a shame about his bad behaviour - such a great bass player!
1958-1959 to Pick up £25 per week was a lot of money when the average tradesman was earning £15 per week gross.

MY BEST BASSIST.......2 THINGS IN COMMON....ONLY SON AND LIVED KINGSBURY LOND NW9
Tell the narrator to get it right, it is pronounced Bobby Reyedell, not Bobby Riddle.
Cliff christ. Really helped him out in his hour of need??????
Such a pity to have a promising career basically destroyed by booze...
💯💔
Maybe another group member set him off on Booze.
Of all the jobs to get, working in a pub is the last place he needed to be, other than drinking the pub’s profits
