The most underrated part about games like bo2 was the community integration with features like lobby leaderboards and calling card/combat record flexing. It gave incentive to play well and talk your shit and back it up. How every year is a step down when they had the formula right a decade ago is insane to me
plus the competitive scene and sniping/trickshotting community you had a big interactive community for every way you wanted to play. even knifers etc
Yeah and in bo3 with the custom emblems crazy designs and all aalso the specialist challenges to unlock other camos. Also the rank play in bo3 was good and so was in bo2.
Unfortunately earnable calling cards and emblem design has been completely monetized and people keep throwing money at the shop so nothing will change

Not only that, theater mode with the community tabs. Granted that eventually led to it dying from cheats, back in the day it was genuinely fun going through and looking at the best clips, funny screenshots, custom game modes. And the menus were smooth as butter, one thing I think a lot of people forget to mention.
Every rant you have I get excited as if things will change for the better, but the sad reality is they just don't care.

Remember when prestiges meant something? And it would reset everything and essentially punish you if you unlocked the next prestige. That grind alone kept me on COD for a while

Man, i remember the prestige system and the grind after reseting everything. MW3 was my top pic for the prestige, i unlocked everything in that game after 2k hs.
I think for me personally it’s just sucked the fun out of hopping and playing just to play. I HAVE to try in order to “have fun” or have a good game. And it’s super frustrating that I can’t dial it back and relax without playing against other people who have to do the same thing.
In the OG days I would run goofy classes just to see what would happen. Or run into other people messing around and before you know it the whole lobby is doing dumb stuff just having fun. It’s not like that anymore. I also miss staying in the same lobby as the game before. You could play with the same group of people as long as you wanted to.
same here but what i believe is happening is that they are catering to the higher end player I.E pros streamers and youtubers instead of actually listening to the actual community

At least in older cods they allowed people to camp or rush, in this cod they completely nerfed the rushing playstyle into the ground
Apparently you need to adapt according to people who are shit at the game. I love to rush because it’s fun. I don’t care about my my K/D I just enjoy playing the game. No idea why people pay $70 just to see a tiny portion of the maps because they camp in the same place every game.
You can still rush the only difference now is you actually need to rush you can’t be a second behind. So rushing this year takes actual skill

All is see in this game is mindless offense. Idk see how rushing is nerfed you literally can barely hear guys busting thru a door running full speed up the stairs, if anything I would say camping is heavily nerfed. Terrible audio, busted aim assist, headshots with snipe dont kill in BR, etc.

This is why games back in the day regardless of battlefield , Call of Duty etc. felt more rewarding and fun. Due to the skill ceiling and mechanics involved and growing and transitioning from a newbie to a skilled player always felt more of an achievement to me then any pointless grind for some camos would.
Now it's stupid easy to get camos for every gun in the game without breaking a sweat. You can get gold on any gun in literally 5 hours. Maybe less. No skill required either which just sucks. A game like this just makes me wanna get a gold gun a call it a day. That's it. Jobs done. Never touch the game again. I've actually retreated to Ghosts because it's actually somewhat good from someone,like myself,who mainly plays the PvE/Co-op type games mode. Like,I bounce from game to game sometimes. I play Ghosts here,a little BO2 there with some BO3 in between. Those type of actual fun CoDs are never making a return and it's sad.
I can still to this day play Battlefield 4 and hit some crazy clip or do something that implements a ton of mechanical skill and or luck and it feels so rewarding.
@@aiMTecGHOST Skills arguably ain't required for camos either bruh. All CoD did over the years was make the grind more annoying primarily so they could manipulate Player Retention. It was mainly about are you willing to take on this grind. If you compare CoD BO camo grind to Vanguard's then there's a big difference. BO challenges made sense, most of the weapons weren't bad and the mastery camos were kool so the grind felt worth it. Vanguard is the worst offender not only is it asking you to get more kills, but you gotta do it with a gun you may not like, but more importantly with attachments that make no damn sense, but more importantly on a damn game that you might not even like. Prolly shouldn't have used Vanguard cause it's the worst one but they were tripping...plus the damn mastery was UGLY AF.
At the very least MW22 makes an attempt to fix that bullshit, it's not perfect in the eyes of many and to some arguably easy, but damn I'd rather that over the BS we've gotten over the years. Orion is mid too but that Poly is nice enough to get.
The reality is they don't give AF bout the camo grind anymore as seen with Damascus and Dark Aether versions being sold in the shop. They just want player retention!

They need to learn from BO2. It nailed the balance between being casual, competitive, and rewarding for good and players who are still learning. Even ranked was fun. Treyarch should just be allowed to do what they want.

@@braedenr836 Activision is a publisher. They don’t develop the games. Treyarch, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer make the game.

This is such a strange time in history for gaming. The online world has been around long enough where communities have become very scattered. Cod alone has separated into factions, people are still logging 8hrs a day on bo2. And it's like that for every game that was worth a damn. No idea where I'm going with this unfortunately, guess Im saying I can't wait for the next undeniably impregnable bulletproof game to come out.
I'm still one of the few that play black ops 1 and 2 online at least once a week every saturday or sunday for a few hours. I'll admit it doesn't feel the same as when I played full time between 2011-2014 but I still have fun

I literally do not care about killstreaks in this game. I only just use UAV, Cluster Mine, and Precision Airstrike all because it's the easiest to get [4, 5, 6 kills]

They don't expect a different result. Cod makes millions upon millions each year, and they change as little as possible. The consumers are insane for still buying this game when it's the same exact game that's been released doe four years in a row.

It used to be you vs the players, now it's you vs the background mechanics. All the players on both teams are being manipulated.

And one thing I can say absolutely for sure is that people are being nerfed while in game. I can't tell you how many times I've gone on a kill streak just based purely on skill only to fall short mid match or towards the end of a match. If I go crazy like 10+ kills without a death all of a sudden I can't get a kill even though I'm shooting the same gun and often times shooting them before they shoot me. Skill based damage is definitely a huge problem for me.

Get a chopper gunner and it gets taken down faster than any streak I've ever seen. Plus they added spawn protection so they have time to shoot you down but you can't do any damage to them.
On the other hand I enjoy warzone with friends 💁♂️
some maps a chopper gunner is totally useless too. Getting one on El Asilo or Hotel feels like a waste of everyone's time. Its like they deliberately intended to create the skidrow experience from the last MW2, where chopper gunners get to sit and watch everyone else have fun fighting inside the building that is the map

mw3 introduced that spawn protection. The og mw2 was the best for killstreaks lmao
@@xbeastlygingerx2096 Ain't no spawn protection in MW22 bruh. you will die multiple times from a streak, like you'll die then respawn back into the same streak...looking at you Mortar Strike. Spawn Protection really isn't a bad thing tho that's the very least of CoD's worries
The most frustrating situation I deal with when playing this game is when I play with friends. Some of my friends have 0.8-1.00 KD’s and when we play as a group they get MAJORLY punished because SBMM pairs us, a team of 2 good members, and 4 average/casual players with 4-6 good players and it’s not enjoyable for the casual friends and I have to put away the guns I want to use and pull out Vaznev/AK74u/TAQ-56 and play like it’s championship weekend in the fucking CDL.
Usually get about 4 games in before no one wants to continue.
That means they need to get better

I’ll say what I keep saying every time you rant about the developers not making the needed changes to make this game better. Tell your followers to stop buying bundles and the COD developers/higher ups will start listening right away. They only care about profit, they don’t care about perks/weapon balance.

...and there is your problem. it was easier for you back then, it's harder now. As soon as major challenges come, you're ready to call it quits. Wasn't that the same thing newer players had to go through in the beginning? I get it, you don't want to play against Try-Hards, sweatty players that seem to have 360 no scope on tap. But remember, for a time, you were that 360 no scoper.
What we DO NEED are lobbies for those who really and truly play causal, and are not actually stomping players left and right. i can remember actually letting some players live because i had killed them multiple times and figured they were new. Even gave them practice matches...
The THING is aswell, even if you are a bad player you don’t realise it. Most bad players might actually think they’re better than they are (due to sbmm) and will also start to hate the game aswell, resulting in most people hating what they are doing to aid bad players. I’m no pro myself but it’s a vicious cycle

Sad part is that there's no way back. Once you give players a crazy aim assist, you can't take it away because people will FEEL they got worse and drop the game. They know it, it's only going to become stronger and stronger going forward.
Same for other stuff, matchmaking ain't going to change, because a good portion of the casual community would FEEL the difference and drop the game easier.

I actually like the state of movement in this game. Timing your jumps around corners or slides so you can have your gun up at the right moment is satisfying to pull off successfully and is easy enough to fuck up that it feels like an actual skill. Killstreaks being totally useless on some maps is pretty unforgivable though

I am some one who was raised on cod grew up obsessed with it but after mw/warzone I've noticed I've slowly stopped playing I'm really thing about quitting cod until they fix the game
Something that I just remembered that used to be a thing is the multiplayer player count that would appear in lobbies. That hasn’t been a thing since ghosts. I think in black ops 1 the player count on Xbox live once hit 3 million at one point. Crazy how something so simple was taken out long ago that used to be a staple that no one talks about.

I bring this up often and I miss player count too, but I also miss Lobby Leaderboards where you could see the stats of every player in the lobby. This gave me a good sense of how the match would play and I could prepare for it.
I’m tired of running a normal route and then I get shot in the back by someone getting a lucky spawn
that kill streak take was absolutely terrible. People back out in fear of chopper gunners, gun ships etc the kill streaks are solid. Not great, but to say “they’re not even close to good” is a bad take.
Couldn't agree with you more👍 I have some additional gripes with the state of Warzone, but you hit it on the head with some of the issues affecting the core game. Not to mention the cheaters are back en masse, if you didn't mention that already.

Thanks for being a big creator that actually talks about how terrible new cods have been! Honestly mw 2019 Was better, they could have literally started there and added weapon tuning new camos and some of the other things in mw 22 and had a far more playable and successful game. It was that easy and the dropped the ball somehow. Not every cod has to be different I’d prefer them adding on from what they have learned in previous games to make a better one. It’s like they all had Amnesia after bo3 and couldn’t remember how to make improvements.

MW2019 was the gold under the trashcans, because around MW2019 there was not one good CoD since 3 years in the row. So people think it is good, but the game was already bad. And afterwards the games were also extreme trash. So the community stayed by thinking MW2019 was a good game. But again, only because it is surrounded by really dirty bad trash, the game is also still trash.
I got my Vtol for the first time since the game's release and when I called it in, it hit no one with the missiles and shot at no one. AT ALL...IN SHIPMENT. Literally, the setup the game always wants people to use 24/7 in game is:
Perks: Flak Jacket, Battle Harden, Cold-Blooded, Ghost
Equipment: Stim Shot and Sticky Grenade
Field Upgrade(s): Dead Silence or Munition Box
Streaks: UAV, Counter UAV, S.A.E (Since that seems to be the only low-earning killstreak to actually guarantee killing players other than the Motar Strike)
Keep pushing out these rants or even bring back story times. I miss those bo3 days

The only glimmer of hope that I still have is that the playerbase is dropping off so hard that it'll really impact their skin sales and force them to make a change. A caveat to that though is that IF Activision/IW can swallow their pride and make meaningful changes, they'll only do it at year 2 of MW2 and charge everyone $60 again.

I’ve played since bo1 and was a consistent 3.0KD avg player bo2 and up. Completely quit cod after MW 2019. Sold my setup and havent looked back. Was literally debating buying a new PC for this cod and this deterred me. Thanks Marksman🤝
this holds true to this day I played MWII for two months. the shortest playtime I had with a CoD game in fact I played more Vanguard then MWII.

There's so much cover that most of the streaks don't do much, unless your playing shipment. The best streaks are uav and cluster mines.
They say they want to cater to all play styles, yet almost everything in the game caters to a slower, “sentinel” play style.

My friend and have been playing cod together since 2015 lol. And we never really understood sbmm until the new MW2. Him and I are constantly the top 2 on our team with 15+ kills and the rest of the team is absolute garbage, while the other team is usually very well balanced with very decent players. It’s just really starting to get on our nerves that we never get good teammates.

Something I never see talked about is how in AW we were able to customize our streaks. I hate how they just scrapped that and never brought it back

@@Idk-cz9ms you can add threat detection to uavs or make them a vsat, make the xs1 Vulcan have more charges, turrets can fire rockets or lasers, system hack can disable exos, and many more for each and every streak in the game. Memories a lil foggy huh lol but it's all good
He's right. I ran the System Hack version that would disable your exo suit besides disabling the HUD on the regular version. AW had a solid score streak system that made me play it and enjoy it despite the unbalanced guns.
I’m a casual player. Two kids, wife and I work hard. When everyone else is asleep and the day is done, I have, for years, hopped on to play with my college roommate from ‘08. We have not gotten a WZ2 win since the day it was released. We played 10 games of warzone 2 days ago of which we won 4 and placed 4th or higher in the remaining 6. Tonight we could hardly get a kill and ended up quitting because it felt like there was literally nothing we could do to even just stay alive. Neither experience felt the slightest bit rewarding. Our playing style and skill level is the same… so what changed? When the game feels rigged and it seems there’s ample evidence of that… To Marksman’s point, it personally doesn’t feel like there’s good reason to play it.

I consider myself a avg player struggling to a keep a 1.00 kd and it’s not fun anymore I remember playing for hours sometimes a whole day on bo2 or mw3 now I’m bored and so annoyed after maybe 3-4 matches or less then leave for a couple days I wish I didn’t by a digital copy so I could return the game waste of money
They want everyone to be a 1.0. Before SBMM I was always a 1.5-1.7KD. MW2019 was a 1.2 and now MW2022 a 1.03

you literally just said everything i was thinking... in my elo is hell, no1 does scorestreaks, and i can't play with my lower skill buddies coz they will get into my elo and they won't have fun so after 1-2 games they don't wanna play in my elo :/
Marksman was talking about the SR 71 in Black Ops and how good it was. If I remember correctly, ghost couldn't even keep you off radar if there was an SR 71 up. Ghost was only effective against spy planes but it served a duel purpose by hiding you from AI streaks like the attack chopper, player controlled streaks and thermal sights.
Killstreaks back in ye olden days truly were a force to be reckoned with.
The fact that a counter-uav requires one more kill than a uav yet you can easily shoot down a counter with a pistol in a couple shots but you need either a rocket or an entire mag of an LMG to take down a uav is laughable
I'm secretly hoping theres a company out there secretly cooking up a fps game that will put the fire to activision feet or maybe put the final nail on coffin so we can move on from shiet games
It's almost as if they're removing elements of the game that made it too easy as players were getting better.
The two biggest problems in the in the game are not having dead silence as a perk and not having red dots on the mini map. This game as a whole has been catered to bad players but these two changes would make the game a lot better.
I know I’ve gotten tired of playing it. It’s so boring and it’s really annoying doing really well and then you get games where it seems like your bullets don’t hit..
Even though plenty of creators have talked about this, the way you articulated this and encompassed the community’s feelings toward the game made this video such a breath of fresh air. Great video!
It’s probably because people have bought into the idea that equality rules and competition is bad. If you want to win, you have to be superior than your opponent, end of story. Video game developers show there hand far to often by making there game rock, paper, scissors and not let the actual skilled individual advance.
Gotta agree with you! The reason I’m even subscribed to all of the cod creators is because back in the day, I just needed help to get better because I was awful. Getting better was the game within the game. While I’ve gotten better mechanically, I just don’t know if I’m getting better and I can’t get games where I get high streaks as often, since it’s kinda designed to keep people going even
What do you even mean by this? We all needed help getting better, and technology has moved forward for us to do just that. Getting the high streaks was supposed to be an achievement and not supposed to be a common occurrence. If that was the case, no one but the highest killers would have fun at all times. Making it balanced means that you would be lucky to get high streaks in some games, whereas someone else would get them in others (so that eventually everyone would get a chance at a high streak). If only few people got those streaks, then how is it fun for anyone else?
I said the same thing back when Modern Warfare came out in 19' about how the game punishes you for being good. I haven't played COD regularly since 2014. Every few years I come and check out the latest COD to see if things have changed. Can't say I'm surprised to see that they haven't.

I miss MW3 where I could consistantly call in pred missile, then operate the Reaper, and then hear "Death from Above" as my AC-130 was called in
I'm over it. I live in Europe with a 1.3 K/D and I cannot win games in MP. In one day of playing, 75% of the games I joined were in progress and my team was being dominated. The other 25% were mostly losses against super sweats.
I remember being a bad player back in the day, and getting railed by kill streaks. I then had the desire to get those kill streaks and slowly kept getting better and better just to get a harrier, chopper gunner, nuke. MakeCodGreatAgain
In DMZ, I was running solo and being hunted by a team. I put down a sentry gun. It didn't shoot at the other team at all. They all just walked by it🤦♂️
Great video. I enjoyed cod for so many years and have now moved on for all the reasons in this video. I still watch marksman from time to time because he’s fantastic. I’m thinking the stakeholders in Activision force the devs to do this, as they believe it increases their bottom line. I would love to know if marksman has brought this up to the devs and if he can’t say, or they don’t give him an answer. Leadership always has the final say in the company. It’s disappointment that it’s come to this for so many shooters/BRs.

I’ve never heard of a successful business that actively ignores their most loyal customers. It blows my mind how little they care about us. We are the ones they should be catering to. We are their returning customers. We are their loyal fan base, and they’re about to lose a lot of us (again)
@5.7admirer with an expected 2 year game cycle and rapidly declining player base already only a couple of months into the game that’s a tough argument to make. What they are doing in assuming that’s the case, when in reality they haven’t tried to cater to their loyal fan base in almost a decade. In that time we have seen this franchise decline enormously with the exception of the warzone/lockdown bump in 2020.
I quit playing on Christmas 2022. Havent opened the game in 2023. Been having a happier life overall. Went back to playing the guitar and hopefully setting up a band soon.
But on the other side of the coin .... It wasn't fun to join a game and spawn into a gunship , chopper Gunner , or swarm
part of the joy of cod back in the day was getting absolutely shit on by dogs and a swarm in one game, just to equip that killstreak yourself and finally call it in and feel the joy of sending that onto the other team.
Wouldn't mind them updating the game too, it's been a a few months.
For real man, that’s what kills it the most for me. Hardly a single substantial update besides season 1 and even that wasn’t big
thats why i left cod in november and im playing dayz instead, its a really hard game to learn but it feels really good when you know what you are doing

The better people get at a game overtime the harder and less likely it is for new players to get involved. If they didn't make it easier for new players, call of duty would die out quicker.
The only remaining players would be sweats, tryhards no-lifes, and only masters at the game. It would be too competitive and Call of Duty is better as a casual game.
What makes a multiplayer game long-lasting is the ability to recycle new players, not keep along masters.
Call of Duty is just trying to keep their game casual and fun. They don't want those new to fps to be detered from multiplayer because theres people jumping around corners while they can hardly aim down sights.
It is a competitive video game, there should be a skill Gap, there should be a room for improvement. That is the core of the game, that is what they have killed
Worse for better players? It’s not because of lack of content, delaying season 2, not fixing bugs and a bad UI. It has to be because they want to punish bad players. Ridiculous leap.
One thing I hate that they call innovation is the amount of attachments and weapon tuning in all the stuff. It used to be a lot better when there were maybe 20 attachments for a gun if not 10 and that’s including the sights. The more complex and complicated that you make it to where I have to watch UA-cam videos every 2 weeks just to get a gun to work how the gun should work bc of “meta” I’m not gonna play the game.
LMAO the swarm was absolute chaos and you could stack it with dogs 😭. I remember using raps and the G.I. unit in bo3 too.
They focused on graphic visuals, gun sounds. Everything else was put on the backburner. My shots are constantly not registering, server constantly spiking when i encounter players, the dogwater limited selection of maps(wait a year for good maps wtf). No one likes the progression system either nor is the gameplay satisfying

Yeah I’m part of that drop off. I stopped playing right before thanksgiving. I was really rooting for this game.
Not to mention leveling up and prestiging, back in the day if you prestiged, you had to work your way back up. Now it’s all about battle pass
On the topic of you mentioning hellstorm missle, there was a pop-up of the AoE on the minimap, so anyone paying attention to it could try to avoid it
Unfortunately this will not change. There are more bad players than there are good players. Just as there are more casual players than hardcore players who play hour after hour, day after day. It is therefore no surprise that they make games for the majority, which is unfortunately, the bad players.
Game developers need to make more and more profit year on year to please their investors, who let's face it, do not game in the majority, and therefore do not make good quality games that actually play well and reward skilled players who actually care about the quality etc. I also disagree that it won't survive. It will, and they will continue to make a fortune based upon what I have just said.
I get a chopper gunner and it gets shot down with in 5 seconds. Sometimes before the cutscene even finishes I’m already in critical damage.
I remember whenever the MW2 beta released that I could tell instantly that aggressive play styles were nerfed BAD. Footstep audio was so loud so there was no W-Keying without someone pre-aiming where they hear your footsteps coming from and with dead silence not a perk, there wasn’t a way to get around sound whoring campers. You would get penalized for jump shooting with a slow ads. Movement was obviously long gone. Just EVERY thing in this game was made to remove a skill gap and only benifit the noobs but like you said, the noobs aren’t going to want to stick around either if they don’t feel like they are getting better It makes me SICK 🤢

I agree 1000% I grinder 12 hrs tier 1 shipment for camps done. I haven’t picked up modern warfare in 1 month and my mentality is so much better.
It's a generational thing. The gamers today need their hand held through absolutely everything, and CoD devs we're afraid of losing out on money when these kids continued to get steamrolled because they don't understand things like moving around, strategy & critical thinking, etc.
