To be honest Xbox Scarlet would have been an awesome name. Same with Xbox: Scorpio Project (aka the One X). I just think the name “Series X” sounds a bit lame for the next generation of Xbox. But hey, it didn’t stop me buying one hahah

I own the elite v1 and for a long time I used the collective minds paddles modpack on a regular controller and found the mapping buttons extremely useful. In the future, I personally think that the next version of the elite controller should have some kind of quickmapping button as well as adjustable paddles like almost a bending wire that can adjust your comfort if you have large hands. I think the shift button is genius but the newer playstation controllers will always have that touchpad.
People act like the built-in battery is such a good thing when it really just means that the wireless functionality of your controller has a finite lifespan and that after a while your battery life will begin to deteriorate. A swappable rechargeable battery pack would have been better.
@@TheRealConcertKing Exactly. As you use the battery, no matter what kind, its capacity to hold charge deteriorates overtime. So its actually good to have an option to buy a new set of rechargeables in case.

Bro, your reviews are so on point. I always get both systems, but this controller makes me want to get the XBOX first. I really don’t like using after market controllers, and prefer using OE stuff cause it lasts longer, has better warranties. Knowing the elite is this good and works for the next gen is dope.
I dunno what y'all be talking about for lifespan. My first elite controller lasted from the time it was debuted and still works. I only just picked up the series 2 for Christmas for myself, and it's absolute GOLD.
As to the stigma to the durability of elite controllers, I’ve had the Xbox Elite Controller V1 for almost 2 years now, and quite frankly it’s still in pristine condition for me. Additionally it’s not like i don’t use it, i use it on a daily basis and it’s still running 100% fine.
Elite v2 has held up flawlessly for me, my elite v1 is also still in perfect shape. I don't know if I got lucky or what but I have had 0 issues in however many years the elite controllers have existed
This is the best controller on earth ! Been using it since 11/04/2019 every day for about 4 hours a day and it still feels like I took it out the box for the first time every time I use it ! Fuck the 1st elite with those damn grips ! Series 2 in 1 million % better !

I’ve owned it since late December it is an amazing controller I’ve also owned the first elite I’m glad the grip raps around I haven’t had any issues with the grip but with the first elite I had grip issues almost instantly out of the package

I love how this controller feels, especially how I’m able to fine tune the triggers and adjust the tension of the sticks. That being said, within a week of having it my B button started sticking. Not a huge deal since I could just map the B button to one of the back paddles. A couple weeks after that the left stick stopped responding when I went to click it. I play a lot of call of duty and everytime I went to sprint I would have to repeatedly click the left stick down until it responded properly. It got me killed many times and I just decided to go back to a regular controller. Kinda sucky.

@@slickitysosa I haven't had any. I play quite a lot of Destiny 2 and I would notice. The controller drag on the first controller is from dust and dirt getting onto the surface of the joint. I keep my controller clean.
This is one of the things I am jealous of as a PS4 owner. My Astro C40 is okay, but I have had to swap out analog sticks (Battle Beaver) to get more tension. I’ve had stick drift issues, running issues, etc.
Jason Hunt I play ps4 as well, but as ps5 will come this year and is going to be expensive. I thought buying a pc isn’t a bad idea. Won’t cost much more, no ps plus and you can use whatever controller you want. Think about switching to pc as well (think about what your friends will be playing on tho) (I have Nacon Revolution Pro 2 controller wich still performs perfectly after a year. My friend only had mic issues with it after 2 years)
@Snudion Hey! I'm glad you have had no issues with your C40. I had to return my base module once and they sent me out new analog sticks twice so far. I ended up just ordering Battle Beaver replacements. The BB ones have more stick tension also, which I think is a must for the C40. So far, the BB replacements have held up for a few months. I love the C40 too (when it works). I have had to increase my analog stick sensitivity for my character to continue to run in Blackout. I'm hoping the PS5 controller has back buttons and this would solve many aftermarket controller issues.
Great review. Sometimes best to wait a few months and see how it performs. Just got mine today and it feels great. Love that it works with series X too.
The life span of mine was pretty short. I had 2 elite 1s that broke pretty quick (i.e the bumpers simply fell out over time and the padding/gripping came off) and then I decided to get the elite 2. I loved it while it lasted. The two top paddle buttons on the back of the controller are now unresponsive and so is the left bumper. Maybe I got unlucky. I low key want another one cuz it truly was one of the best feeling controllers I've ever felt in my hands and it's got such a nice weight to it. I wish I could remember how long it lasted but it didnt feel long😥
I have been using this controller since shortly after its release. Overall, it improved my game and skill, but it’s lifetime was TERRIBLE. After just 2 months I started having issues with one of the bumpers, then went through an absolute HEADACHE to get it sent to Microsoft and repaired because of their lackluster customer service. After all of that, a few months later I started having issues with the other bumper and did the same thing. While this was happening, the center on the joysticks was progressively degrading and I kept having to increase my deadzones in games to avoid drift. After about a year, both of the triggers started sticking and becoming unresponsive most of the time, and I ended up taking matters into my own hands and opening the controller myself and doing a sort of “controller surgery” with the help of a YT video.
@@youtube_handled Well actually, the bumpers were the main problem. The triggers stopped sticking, but weren’t being stopped as early on the trigger stoppers for some reason (I use the trigger stoppers on the highest setting). When I opened the controller, I was trying to fix the unresponsive bumpers. First I fixed one, and then shortly after that the other got bad and I opened the controller again to fix it. The first time it worked really well (the YT video showed how to take out a small piece of plastic from between the mechanism inside). The second time I did it the same way, though, it didn’t fully fix it, and I tried my own strategy of folding the piece of plastic and putting it where it originally was. This fixed the second bumper. Not sure why taking away the barrier on one mechanism worked for one bumper and making the barrier thicker made the other work, but I’m no controller engineer so I didn’t bother thinking why too much. The biggest downside was that folding the piece on the second bumper made the “click” of the bumper go away, and I simply put pressure on it for it to register.
I just bought this controller I’m picking it up tmr but that’s exactly why I got a protective warranty for 2 years just in case so I can just go and swap it
@@brandonpaz123 wish that would have been an option for me when I was getting mine. A little update on the situation actually, the controller no longer senses that I’m walking forward full speed on the left stick unless I hold it there for at least a full second 😵

I have xbox elite v2 controller, it is amazing! Love the 4 paddles when playing CoD. Left paddle = jump and change wep, right paddle slide and reload. The quality is also amazing and the feel is much better than the origional xbox series x controller.
@@Thatwhey yepp the RB button broke like 4 weeks ago and did not respond :-P But my controller was a demo controller to begin with and i also used it for over a year so iguess it had been used alot. Sent it to MS and got a new controller after just 2 weeks waiting. :-)
My biggest, BIGGEST complaints about the elite controllers are the metal thumbsticks. Why on earth are they metal? Metal makes AWFUL snap back. For shooters this doesn't matter much but for things like platform fighters it's horrible. I replaced the metal thumbsticks in my original elite controller with plastic thumbsticks. How ever, with this new one I want higher tension so that's not an option. WHY USE METAL IT'S SUCH A STUPID IDEA
I went through multiple v1 controllers. I loved the v1 elite but it could not withstand heavy usage which is insane. Grips fell off, deadzone issues, thumbsticks wore out you name it. v2 elite however has done so much better. It's subtle improvements do add up to be a significant improvement over v1 and the fact that I'm 6 months in after really heavy usage and it still feels and looks like I got it yesterday is a very promising. I'll be buying another one when the series X releases because no one should have to play on anything else, it's that good.
Here is my issue with integrated batteries; once the battery deteriorates or no longer hold their charge for very long, that's it game over, you can't change or even remove the battery. You have to buy a new controller or pay an expensive repair bill; if we compare that to play and charge kits all it takes is replace the battery if needs be. If you want a controller that has an integrated battery, leave the play and charge kit in the controller.
It’s not that hard to replace controller batteries unless they’re soldered in, and I’d much rather have one reusable battery that lasts for years then have to buy new batteries every month that I can’t even throw away
Went from ps4 to xbox series x. Been using the scuf impact on the ps4 and you have totally sold me on going for this controller now. Buying it tomorrow. Cheers
I’ve had 3 of these already in 2 months all having issues all 3 having issues with the RB button registering 2 presses when hitting once. The first lasted about a month the second lasted a week and the third a few days and also had stick drift on the right stick on opening day
Yeah, buttons pressing twice seems to be a mechanical error, wait for another batch to come out and get another one on warranty. All controllers can be bought brand new with problems, i had problems with ps2 dualshock controllers, xbox 360 and xbox one controllers clming out of the box with mushy buttons that stick, triggers that are loose, stick drift, home buttoms sticking etc.
I love the paddles on the elite series 2 Microsoft nailed them. but the elite series1 paddles were so biggggg. I love the thumb stick tension for shooter games
Thank you for the review! My V1 after one and a half years of abuse playing COD is starting to get left stick drift. Hopefully they’ve used better parts in the V2.
I just got this controller with my new xbox and tbh i was abit confused with it but you explained everything about the controller that has completely changed the way i play games now
Well either way your using scuf tech becausethis was done througha deal with Microsoft. Not overpriced they are the forefathers of paddled controllers and aren't into mass production.

Had mine since November with zero issues. I have seen where some are having connectivity issues, but I've yet to have an issue sitting 10-`12 feet from my xbox. My biggest disappointment was that the sticks don't fit from the series 1.
Yea that's 100% true what you said about life span being a problematic subject for the elite controllers I've had 3 so far and it's taken almost 600$ to learn my lesson about buying custom builds! This tech looks fantastic though I imagine with all the effort they put in they addressed the longevity of the parts used particularly the life of the substrate boards and sensor circuits for the paddles and sticks ! Those have been my two areas of issue with all 3 controllers I've owned Very excited to upgrade to the v2 as soon as I can find it in stock 😂
I just bought a series 2 elite, first time ever having an elite, and this gave me a hugeee sense of relief and knowledge set ontop of that. Thank you ♥️ also, please upload more! I’m looking forward to seeing everything!
Here is my honest review: Got the elite v2 in the beginning of april - ultra stick drift (left stick moving left) straight of the box ... i returned the controller New elite v2 arrived 2 weeks later - again stick drift (left stick moving left) straight out of the box ... its not that bad as it was with the first one, but still pretty annoying while playing cod I am going to return it again and again until i get one that works. That controller costs 180,-€ but is worth only 30,-€ with those issues. Under the line they should pay me, because i waste so much time for returning. The feeling of the controller is good, trigger stops nice and that you can change the tension of the (drifting) sticks.
I bought the elite v1 used off ebay 3.5 yrs ago. I changed the face plate, triggers, and bumpers. It still works flawlessly! Only issue I've had was I paddle got loose and stopped working. It was an easy fix, just had to tighten a screw. Other than that it tends to rattle when vibrating, but i never notice it since I play with a headset. Will def get the v2 once mine breaks
It's a great controller, but I am already on my second elite controller series 2. The first one I had the L3 button quit working, and I was getting horrible stick drift on both sticks. I also went through 4 elite one controllers as well because of the bad stick drift, and the RB and LB buttons quit working.
I’ve returned 3 already. All with unresponsive face buttons. Either A or X just wouldn’t register every time I’d press it. Don’t use them too often because of the paddles but I’m not paying $200 for a controller and it not work properly
@@eja35oz Can't blame you really, i wouldn't recommend them. I think it’s great to have so many options and each console has their pros and cons. I can’t wait to get the elite controller because it absolutely is the most comfortable controller I’ve felt for sure. Used to be out on display at a Best Buy.
So, a year later I finally got a Halo Infinite Elite 2 controller that showed up with a nonfunctional paddle button and a defective right stick out of the box. As a 3-time Series 1 owner I thought the quality issues people complained about for the Series 2 controller were overblown but apparently not.
@@k9wolfblood nope, since it is a "limited" item they said they cannot provide a replacement from the MS Store. Xbox support said since it arrived defective it does not apply for warranty but regardless they don't repair they replace and again since it is new and limited they don't have any. So, only option is return for a refund.
I own the controller and haven't had a problem except for the joysticks....both are loose kinda? It's not stick drift but the it moves around ever so slightly with no resistance and literally if I hold my controller on a angle you can see the joystick leaning to that side but it's not actually actuating the joystick I think its deadzone like physical dead zone not deadzone in the games but I dunno that's my problem, anyone else?
@@moistsama7408 no it's nothing like that, it's kinda like when you have the controller for a long time and the joystick just gets loose over time and with mine i can slightly wobble it around and it moves like its loose but doesn't actually control anything in game unless I actually move the joystick around and so it's like that on both joysticks. It doesn't bother me on the left side as it's only my move joystick but the right one messes with my aim because I have to move it more before the controller reads that I'm moving the joystick
Rayden Recollet i think I figured it out the same thing happened to series 1 the joystick has this wobble and you can move it sorta like how a hula hoop but it doesn’t actually do anything I haven’t tried fixing it but my theory is that the part where the stick attaches to the thing that causes the action is loose
I hear PS4 players brag that they've enjoyed rechargeable internal batteries for years. And thats pretty cool...but every time I play Warzone, they all play with it plugged in and charging, creating this hum during the whole match.
Having internal batteries is kinda dumb, once the battery is fucked, difficult to replace whereas with xbox you can buy a rechargeable plug and play kit, if battery get's fucked it's an easy swap.

I use this for modern warfare and it’s life changing
with everything being magnetic, if you rage with this controller, it'll be like throwing a puzzle onto the floor, pieces will go everywhere
🤣🤣🤣
or just don’t throw it. have one and if you drop it some things pop off but not all the time

Lol
If you can't control your anger and your willing to throw 200 dollars on the floor in pieces that when you need therapy
You forgot to mention they automatically change the 0-100% trigger press when you switch between the 3 trigger settings so you no longer need to make a custom profile for that change.

This is probably the best review vid of this controller I could find, it told me everything
People act like the built-in battery is such a good thing when it really just means that the wireless functionality of your controller has a finite lifespan and that after a while your battery life will begin to deteriorate. A swappable rechargeable battery pack would have been better.

Not a huge deal since I could just map the B button to one of the back paddles. A couple weeks after that the left stick stopped responding when I went to click it. I play a lot of call of duty and everytime I went to sprint I would have to repeatedly click the left stick down until it responded properly.
Think about switching to pc as well (think about what your friends will be playing on tho)
(I have Nacon Revolution Pro 2 controller wich still performs perfectly after a year.
Which level of tension did you pick at Battle Beaver? Stock, Increased or Extreme? Does it handle well?
Patrick D. One of each.
Great review. Sometimes best to wait a few months and see how it performs. Just got mine today and it feels great. Love that it works with series X too.
How is it holding up?
Yeah how is it holding up
How it is holding?! 3x
After about a year, both of the triggers started sticking and becoming unresponsive most of the time, and I ended up taking matters into my own hands and opening the controller myself and doing a sort of “controller surgery” with the help of a YT video.
and how did that go?

Because with normal controllers the plastic will grind on the controller and tear the thumbsticks. It’s happened to me
Metal is easier to pull of and put on because of the magnet, and plastic would break easy
its magnetic
Ur right I got metal for my ps4 controller an wow took some time getting us to them they felt real heavy a slow

@@betchaos7383 I'm still using a play and charge kit that is over 6 years old so yeah replaceable batteries is the way to go.

i came here because i just ordered one and i wanna see if it was worth it i come down to the comments and everyone is saying the thing is god tier so i’m happy
Those have been my two areas of issue with all 3 controllers I've owned
Very excited to upgrade to the v2 as soon as I can find it in stock 😂
Agree!
Just picked one up, this vid taught me everything I needed to know. Thank you!
I just bought a series 2 elite, first time ever having an elite, and this gave me a hugeee sense of relief and knowledge set ontop of that. Thank you ♥️ also, please upload more! I’m looking forward to seeing everything!
Here is my honest review:
Got the elite v2 in the beginning of april - ultra stick drift (left stick moving left) straight of the box ... i returned the controller
New elite v2 arrived 2 weeks later - again stick drift (left stick moving left) straight out of the box ... its not that bad as it was with the first one, but still pretty annoying while playing cod
I am going to return it again and again until i get one that works.
That controller costs 180,-€ but is worth only 30,-€ with those issues. Under the line they should pay me, because i waste so much time for returning.
The feeling of the controller is good, trigger stops nice and that you can change the tension of the (drifting) sticks.
Check out PowerA's Fusion controller. It has all the same features, trigger stops, paddles, etc, no stick drift yet for me and its only $80 USD.
3 years ?! No drift or any issues ?
Maintenance is really high, I've heard horror stories from everything, scuff cheap paddles and bad stick drift, elite v1 sticks drifting and rubber pealing(happened to mine after 6-8 months) c4o something wrong with the sticks, either losing magnetization or something along those lines, unless you really need them, play tournaments or are financially secure enough to afford replacements you're better off using regular controllers and fucking with your button layouts.
@@AnimosityIncarnate That's exactly what I have done. Mainly only playing cod now but I am using bumper jumper config and I have my index fingers on the L1/R1 and my middle fingers on the triggers. I just remapped a few buttons and its working out pretty right now
Can confirm the problems. Two Elite 1 and two Elite 2, all with problems.
@@eja35oz I recommend xbox one 1st elite controller. I used mine for 3 years or 4 years. The grips came off after 2 years though but I bought new grips and it works fine.
Comfort 10/10
Durability 10/10
-no stick drift
- had it for 1 year and 5 months
8 months?
@@ostxrmzo5467 wha?
@@Hyp3rcrusader777 im gonna reformulate this for u: had it for 1 year and 8 months?
@@ostxrmzo5467 yes as of July 15 2021 I’ve had this 1 year and 8 months, currently drift has gotten worse, and certain buttons require more force or more push’s to activate.
I’ve been a PlayStation and nintendo owner for many years but this generation I got an Xbox series x and I absolutely love it. I think it’s great to have so many options and each console has their pros and cons. I can’t wait to get the elite controller because it absolutely is the most comfortable controller I’ve felt for sure. Used to be out on display at a Best Buy.
I like how I’m looking at an incredibly expensive controller just to play 2k on it
Update: I bought the controller and playing 2k on it was nice
lol
Where did you get it? It's literally sold out or discontinued everywhere
@@LuisZap16 I got it off of Amazon for about $250. I live in the US
@@LuisZap16 on Microsoft right now just ordered.
Nice
ive had to elite series two for more than 2 months now and its holding up so great, i use the hair triggers alot too
So, a year later I finally got a Halo Infinite Elite 2 controller that showed up with a nonfunctional paddle button and a defective right stick out of the box. As a 3-time Series 1 owner I thought the quality issues people complained about for the Series 2 controller were overblown but apparently not.
Are they replacing it? I hope so ...
I don’t have the series 2 but maybe you have gyro controls on(if that’s a thing on it) or you can probably adjust the thumb stick tension
@@moistsama7408 lol it's hard to explain over text but I hope you kinda understand what I'm saying
Also my d pad got loose? Like it's not a strong magnet anymore if I hold it upside down the slightest nudge down and back up the d pad falls out
I hear PS4 players brag that they've enjoyed rechargeable internal batteries for years. And thats pretty cool...but every time I play Warzone, they all play with it plugged in and charging, creating this hum during the whole match.
Plugged in reduces delay
Having internal batteries is kinda dumb, once the battery is fucked, difficult to replace whereas with xbox you can buy a rechargeable plug and play kit, if battery get's fucked it's an easy swap.
@@prich0382 shush getting battery problems are rare and easy to fix and most people I know player wireless unless their on pc then they might not
@@bryansam5457 Rare? My mates playstation controller lasts like 1 to 2 hours and it's a lot more effort to change it out compared to Xbox, absolutely pointless having it sealed in the controller, might as well have a cover just like Xbox controller does
@@prich0382 how my controller lasts me more than the day they capin they need to reduce the light
The life span is 30 minutes
But with all jokes aside the RB stops working. Stick drift right out of the box and every time you press one of the bumpers it at some point It will double click
Do you think you can do a review ok the scuf prestige
@@ItsNSX scuf prestige lasted a year but the paddle placement is ass. Also my rb is hella hard to press but I have 0 stick drift and I’ve had it for one year
@@tristnedits yeah I got mine and it seems to be fine but when I opened the box the left analog stick was sticking to the sides some how it fixed its self after I played for a bit with it but I think the stick was pushed up to far in the mechanism was to far pushed up I have had the same thing before in other controllers I had the elite 2 but that is a disappointment of a product I like the inner paddles more than the outer but that personal preference thank you for your response the Paddels are not the best though they feel slippery and they could be in a better location
@@ItsNSX my fingers are tiny af so I prefer outer paddles so that’s why I might get the elite. Holy crap the rb is so hard to press on the prestige though I’m a fortnite nerd as you can tell from my pfp and I can’t place my floor or switch weapons because it takes so much force to press. Still looking for a fix
@@tristnedits yeah that would definitely be hard but please consider looking into the elite series 1 instead the elite 2 to won’t last you 5 months and for 180 dollars that not to good have you heard of the power a Fusion it has the paddles on the side and they say it’s pretty durable I will be making a video about the Prestige hopefully in the next we on what I think so far but I will say it seems like it’s not worth 200 USD for sure
My elite v1 worked amazingly for 6months of hard use and I had to put it down for the last time a week ago. My elite v2 is on it's way now, and I'm beyond excited.
