Also it seems like the games will be forward compatible also. So if you get Halo infinite on the Xbox One you’ll be able to carry that over onto project Scarlett, basically it’ll work like a smart phone app. To anybody who reads this comment and hasn’t watched it yet I strongly suggest you watch the giant bomb interview with Phil Spencer because he also mentioned that all accessories will be forward compatible also as mentioned by the uploader of this video. Personally speaking I think this is great because the Xbox One controller is literally the best video game controller. The only thing I don’t like is the way the analog sticks knock against the inside of the actual controller casing but that’s a small nitpick considering it’s the most ergonomic controller I’ve used as somebody with cerebral palsy.

n8rates it isn’t the elite it’s your play style. I’ve got two elites in my household each with over 10k hrs of play on them and zero issues with bumpers. I have some friends who chew through bumpers on controllers, others have trigger issues and some like myself have a issue with controllers where the left thumbstick press gets worn and wants to temporarily go into sprint during 1v1’s I never have bumper issues on any controller I use but every single one has the same left stick issue I had to relearn to play with less pressure on that thumb and finally with the elite I moved that function to a rear paddle and never had a issue again. Take the time to pay attention to what you’re feeling and how you’re gripping ,squeezing, applying pressure to the controller and I’d bet you a new elite controller you’ll learn your way out of repeated bumper failures. I could be wrong and it’s just a suggestion but I’d give it a try.

The first version of the elite looked and felt awesome too. It wasn't until after a few months of regular use where it all fell apart with broken bumpers and stick drift - and not just with one controller but two. So, no matter what review I see or read pre-launch. I'll have to wait and see how regular users react over a decently long period - at least 8 months. I'd have noone to blame except myself for "falling for it" after my experiences with the v1.
Only thing I care to know is. Will the rubber grips fall off due to normal heating of hands after long periods of gaming just like the ones on the original elite controller did?
I went through 2 RB shoulder bumpers and a stick drift before my grips fell off. And after they started I pulled them off and kept playing until I broke another RB then got my third elite (in white). So yeah I could care less about grips I wanna know if the RB/LB buttons are still the gen 1 buttons like the 1st elite or if they improved the flimsy plastic parts.
@@xor1ch give it another 6-7. Or you might be lucky. If the grip doesn't warp, the left bumper usually goes after a while. My brother in law's bumper has only just broken after 3 years. Whereas I've had it happen with three of them! They wouldn't change it the second time, so I had to go on eBay and get replacement bumpers.
Rocket league is a very hefty game when it comes to mechanics. I can hop onto any shooter and get to a relatively high level with in a month as I have been with most games. Rocket league has advanced mechanics which takes 1000's of hours to master. That doesn't mean playing and being able to "accelerat".

Those 4 extra buttons seem extremely useful. Especially in shooter games. This is a must have. Because if you don't have it, the people with it have the advantage

Dreamcast controller still one of the best as well , Microsoft Is the natural evolution , they styled their controller at the start off of Sega and the Dreamcast... It was so ahead of It's time back In 1999.

Razers buttons cant be remapped with xbox app Like rb to a or right stick press to x I have razer tournament edition and thre is also no way to install headphone adpter thingy All buttons being reprogrammble No internal fucking battery The headphone adapter possibility And only elite 1 has all that But wire would be nice too

I love my Elite (series 1) and preordered the Elite series 2 as soon as there was a SCU for it in the stores. I’ll give the old one to a guest player and use the new one myself.
There is one huge thing missing from the software, on PC at least. And that is the ability to map keyboard keys and hotkeys to the controller buttons and especially to the paddles. That is the most logical and natural use for the paddles when using the controller with a PC. There is 3rd party software that allows you to do this. reWASD for example, but it should be in the official Xbox Accessories app.

I agree. I'd much rather use rechargeable removable batteries. Having to plug it in when it dies is plain bullshit. Who the hell uses AA batteries in the controller? I never have since day one of the 360. I actually thought the rechargeable batteries was one of the coolest features xbox had over playstation....so much for that. stick drift sucks but it is unavoidable on any controller. you could try being gentler, or get the astro c40 which has easy replacement stick modules for $20. I highly doubt they did anything to remedy drift for the s2, otherwise they would have mentioned it.
They cheaped out! 100%! Never had an issue with it on all 6 of my 360 controllers, some very old. All treated bad! Then comes the new controllers, after 6 months of low use the thing fails to center. 360s have a stronger spring, the new ones are lighter, but fail fast. There is an LED charging indicator on the front of the controller, just above the Profile button. Flashing white LED = charging Solid white LED = fully charged Amber LED = low battery

Totally Original never had grip problems myself. But 2 broken sticks and 1 broken bumper. Never dropped and always kept in case. So it’s really on them and not me. Didn’t get lucky I guess.

Aursn - So i use the Standart Sticks tall and normal a bit and the domed one..One the upper legt i have the domed and on the right i have the Standart Shirt one..The Sticks and the controller are high quality and there are no Bad news about this controller...I love it and play every day with it..👌🏻🙈
i have the gen 1 elite controller, got it on release date and still use it today, bumpers broken and my grips are held on by super glue, 1000s of hours of gaming and its still doing its job, i would totally recommend getting one of these if your on edge.

Worth every penny. I have a SCUF Prestige Xbox controller and an Elite 2 Controller. IMO the Elite 2 controller blows the Scuf Prestige out of the water. No steep learning curve. So easy to use right out of the box. Great vid.
Ken Sanchez I think it is. I saw somewhere what looked an internal battery pack that said it compatible with Xbox one so it might be. I hope with a price point of 189, you could at least change the battery pack.
And im being fr now the elite will get used for maybe a year or two but battery gonna start sucking, better get a new elite when that happens because its probably not changeable
I'll say it again, but if you're using your controller religiously, play wired. This is supposed to be high performance. If you want to sit back in your couch, you'll be fine with rechargeable batteries.

This controller is designed to be useless in 1 to 2 years and be purchased again its plain and simple. Sure this one uses usb c but its still not meant to be used exclusively wired. Please dont do this, this internal battery is not good. IT IS A 180 DOLLAR CONTROLLER THREE TIMES THE PRICE OF A STANDARD CONTROLLER. IT SHOULD BE STRONGER, AND LAST LONGER THAN ANY STANDARD CONTROLLER. THIS ELITE SERIES 2 WILL NOT LAST MORE THAN 2 YEARS EVEN WITH MODERATE USE DUE TO THE IRREPLACEABLE INTERNAL BATTERY DETERIORATING OVER TIME AND LOSING ITS ABILITY TO HOLD A CHARGE. Hopefully, they've fixed the design flaw with the left bumper being thinner on some editions, causing them to break. The 360 design was better, with separate bumpers, instead of being connected by a thin bridge of plastic.
@@theReservedYT I'm not sure that's fair as the Xbox One was a definitive next-gen console and just like original Xbox One controllers are compatible with Project Scorpio (One X), I would only assume they would make this brand new controller compatible with Scarlett. Not to mention the controller and Scarlett were both announced at the same event. I'm not sure Microsoft/Xbox would purposefully not make it compatible, it wouldn't go down well. I don't know either but it doesn't make sense to me.

BEWARE! The first Elite had the identical guts as the standard controller for 60 bucks with the exception of the paddles which needed an additional board. The Elite also had massive "stick drift" issues, as well as plastic parts, breaking off "shoulder bumper" and grips. I would guess from the quality of the controller the unit cost to be about 15 bucks with the case and accessories costing about 10. I have heard so many horror stories of angry owners of this controller writing and calling Microsoft and all of their concerns fell on deaf ears. They knew that the controller was junk and still people paid that 159. price for it. Boggles the imagination. Now we have a new one for MORE....lol. As I said beware, Only a 90-day warranty? The first Gen took only about 45 to 90 days to fail. I will wait for a few months and I am sure to see the same very angry people again. I strongly recommend everyone do the same instead of trusting your hard-earned 179 bucks to a company that did not care about its customers the first time around.
All of your previous controllers and accessories, as well as games used or played on the xbox one will work moving forward. That has been confirmed multiple times. On the other hand, thanks for a detailed look at the controller
I have 2 elite controllers and I use them 3 years now . The major issue is that after 2 years of use the plastic grip starts to fail and that’s very bad
Why would you want to use a micro USB? Just more cables to ruin, and more ports to bend. But as far as turning off Bluetooth.....when you connect a controller whether it's an Xbox one S controller or Xbox one controller it uses Microsoft proprietary wireless connection that has much faster and stable connection than Bluetooth. Bluetooth feature is added for using it with your PC, tablets, smartphones, and things like Amazon Fire TV (there's a few versions of Amazon fire TV that come with a Amazon controller for gaming on them). And I personally prefer using my Xbox one S controller whenever I'm using a firestick or fire TV as its much easier and faster to get around than the included remote.

The paddles are annoying because you can't grip the controller right, I recommend the Razer Wolverine Ultimate.

I agree. I'd much rather use rechargeable removable batteries. Having to plug it in when it dies is plain bullshit. Who the hell uses AA batteries in the controller? I never have since day one of the 360. I actually thought the rechargeable batteries was one of the coolest features xbox had over playstation....so much for that. I bet the scarlet controllers will be the same too

Any update on Stick Drift, i had drift issues with more than one of the origional elite.
Every controller grows stick drift try increasing the dead zone it helps out with minor controller drift
stick drift sucks but it is unavoidable on any controller. you could try being gentler, or get the astro c40 which has easy replacement stick modules for $20. I highly doubt they did anything to remedy drift for the s2, otherwise they would have mentioned it.
They cheaped out! 100%! Never had an issue with it on all 6 of my 360 controllers, some very old. All treated bad! Then comes the new controllers, after 6 months of low use the thing fails to center. 360s have a stronger spring, the new ones are lighter, but fail fast.

There is an LED charging indicator on the front of the controller, just above the Profile button.
Flashing white LED = charging
Solid white LED = fully charged
Amber LED = low battery

@@lorden95 i mean they say it's redesigned from the inside out so i guess so i personally never had those issues the only thing that i got was that the grips started coming off after like 2 years but i just glued them back on so idk.
Totally Original never had grip problems myself. But 2 broken sticks and 1 broken bumper. Never dropped and always kept in case. So it’s really on them and not me. Didn’t get lucky I guess.

Aursn - So i use the Standart Sticks tall and normal a bit and the domed one..One the upper legt i have the domed and on the right i have the Standart Shirt one..The Sticks and the controller are high quality and there are no Bad news about this controller...I love it and play every day with it..👌🏻🙈

i have the gen 1 elite controller, got it on release date and still use it today, bumpers broken and my grips are held on by super glue, 1000s of hours of gaming and its still doing its job, i would totally recommend getting one of these if your on edge.
So if the Project Scarlett comes out “Holiday 2020” that means it will be out this year or next year? since apparently the series 2 is coming out nov 2019

Worth every penny. I have a SCUF Prestige Xbox controller and an Elite 2 Controller. IMO the Elite 2 controller blows the Scuf Prestige out of the water. No steep learning curve. So easy to use right out of the box. Great vid.

I'll say it again, but if you're using your controller religiously, play wired. This is supposed to be high performance. If you want to sit back in your couch, you'll be fine with rechargeable batteries.

This controller is designed to be useless in 1 to 2 years and be purchased again its plain and simple. I tried keeping the standard elite controller wired and the usb port wouldnt connect properly, no drop no damage just sitting plugged in and stopped working. Sure this one uses usb c but its still not meant to be used exclusively wired. Please dont do this, this internal battery is not good. IT IS A 180 DOLLAR CONTROLLER THREE TIMES THE PRICE OF A STANDARD CONTROLLER. IT SHOULD BE STRONGER, AND LAST LONGER THAN ANY STANDARD CONTROLLER. THIS ELITE SERIES 2 WILL NOT LAST MORE THAN 2 YEARS EVEN WITH MODERATE USE DUE TO THE IRREPLACEABLE INTERNAL BATTERY DETERIORATING OVER TIME AND LOSING ITS ABILITY TO HOLD A CHARGE. Hopefully, they've fixed the design flaw with the left bumper being thinner on some editions, causing them to break. The 360 design was better, with separate bumpers, instead of being connected by a thin bridge of plastic.

@@theReservedYT I'm not sure that's fair as the Xbox One was a definitive next-gen console and just like original Xbox One controllers are compatible with Project Scorpio (One X), I would only assume they would make this brand new controller compatible with Scarlett. Not to mention the controller and Scarlett were both announced at the same event. I'm not sure Microsoft/Xbox would purposefully not make it compatible, it wouldn't go down well. I don't know either but it doesn't make sense to me.

BEWARE! The first Elite had the identical guts as the standard controller for 60 bucks with the exception of the paddles which needed an additional board. The Elite also had massive "stick drift" issues, as well as plastic parts, breaking off "shoulder bumper" and grips. I would guess from the quality of the controller the unit cost to be about 15 bucks with the case and accessories costing about 10. I have heard so many horror stories of angry owners of this controller writing and calling Microsoft and all of their concerns fell on deaf ears. They knew that the controller was junk and still people paid that 159. price for it. Boggles the imagination. Now we have a new one for MORE....lol. As I said beware, Only a 90-day warranty? The first Gen took only about 45 to 90 days to fail. I will wait for a few months and I am sure to see the same very angry people again. I strongly recommend everyone do the same instead of trusting your hard-earned 179 bucks to a company that did not care about its customers the first time around.

Coldlyiburn s maybe not directly, however, 8-Bitdo makes a dongle that will allow you to use any Bluetooth controller. It’s $20

Is there a option to use via micro usb? And disable bluetooth? Bluetooth has ms delays unlike if you use straight via usb
Why would you want to use a micro USB? Just more cables to ruin, and more ports to bend. But as far as turning off Bluetooth.....when you connect a controller whether it's an Xbox one S controller or Xbox one controller it uses Microsoft proprietary wireless connection that has much faster and stable connection than Bluetooth. Bluetooth feature is added for using it with your PC, tablets, smartphones, and things like Amazon Fire TV (there's a few versions of Amazon fire TV that come with a Amazon controller for gaming on them). And I personally prefer using my Xbox one S controller whenever I'm using a firestick or fire TV as its much easier and faster to get around than the included remote.
I hope they redesigned the construction of the bumpers.
