You should do a versus where you discuss your different signs. I know you did an intelligent drinking game for that, but I think a versus would be so good! It was like super serious we were sent home early and they brought dogs and we had to leave our backpacks at school and we were just about to showcase HIgh School Musical when everybody ran out of the gym and we were so scared
Being 18, born in 2003 (the Gemini thing was funny by the way. Lol. Also a Gemini). I personally find Gen-Z to be struggling with striving to do something with themselves, and is pretty lazy, doing less than the older generation did by the time they were in high school/early college (older Gen-Z, since younger ppl don't work or go to college of course). Less driving, working outside of school, less responsibility is put on them (taking less responsibility in general), and being incredibly spoiled by parents in a way that is not helping them grow. It is the "underestimated" generation I liked to call us. So, I guess if we show ppl how awesome we can be, it shocks ppl. Lol.
You make a great point. It is a well documented fact that Gen Z is less independent from parents (have less jobs early, less responsibility, less freedom from parents). Not their fault, but I think it comes across in moments where they need authorities to solve their problems. I don't like what a kids says, better call the teacher... don't like what professors say, better call the faculty... don't like my boss, better call HR. Definitely a decreased ability to solve their own problem. When I had a bully as a millenial, I learned to avoid, get beaten up or learn how to fight, I actually didn't run to my mom.
I love when they do a VS video! This was so interesting to listen to, however I was surprised how they never mentioned global warming. I think Gen Z has been defined mostly by it (globally) and like they said in the video gen z want to see things get done for an example Greta Thunberg who is raising the issues we are facing, going to face and the responsibilities we humans need to take in order to achieve this. If anyone reading this gets upset I don't mean that the school shootings isn't a big topic since it is true that it has scared many and has defined the generation since millennial weren't taught on how to handle those situations in school, which is both scary and sad of course.
You know it's gonna be a good afternoon when you happen to open UA-cam only a few mins after Sam and Ryan put up a new video 👏🏻 also the odd thing about when I was born (1997) is that half the internet says I'm the last year of the millenial generation and half the internet says I'm the very first year of Gen Z because 1996 is the cut off. I always just considered myself a millennial 🤷🏻♀️
Lol i also find MetLife definition tht ends millenneal at 1994, and Singh tht starts gen z at 1996. I always consider any 90s born as a millennial, including 1999
Dude did the Research.... Earliest you can be considered z are mid 90s born around 1995 and youngest who can be considered millennial is around 00 slike these things don’t have exact ranges since it’s just vague demographics with all different view points. She can say she’s a senior z or junior millennial she’s literally around the cusp
what Ryan said about wokeism in his generation is so true. everyone should embrace the positive affects of wokeism and use it. the world would be so much more peaceful.
I really need for a lot of people to watch this. It feels very self-aware and I think that's a big problem universally with both generations. The conversation was very coherent and as someone born right in the middle (1995), I appreciated the honest and kind conversation about different generational mindsets. Thank you for this.
As a gen z, I always sorta hate watching videos like these. Idk if anyone else feels this way but the notion that we do everything online and are socially deprived SCARES me. I’m aware of it and I want to like go out and make friends like kids did in the 90s movies but i dont know how???? Currently, I am in a pandemic and I just can’t go out and make friends, I’m stuck at home and I can’t go anywhere without my parents and I literally CANT do it i have no idea how I could possible just go outside and make friends. And i want to soooo bad but I just can’t and I don’t wanna be one of those kids that stays at home and is on their devices all day but I don’t know what else to do about it.
"do I associate with my millenialness?... I associate it with the same way that I associate with gemini- which is like I don't" - this is such a perfect quote lmao
I loved the answer to, “do you associate w/your Gen?” Ryan mentions the importance of surrounding yourself with ppl of all ages, and being well rounded. I, like Sam, was raised with older sib, and raised by boomer parents, and I was born in ‘99. It’s an odd but really cool place to be in
I loved the video but honestly in the last question I couldn't relate cause both of the tragedies you mentioned kinda only apply to people who live in the United States and obviously people from other countries lived and live those news but I wouldn't say it defined the whole generation but those who live in the US and each country/continent has different events that defined each generation fr no hate just bringing another perspective❤❤
I always say the 1995-1999 are Zillennials because they are a mix of both. But Ryan I really like your idea of 9/11 defining the differences because those later 90s were not even in school yet when 9/11 happened. I loved this video!
I just love the way you’re always so invested in your conversations when you do this videos. I’m also an old gen z and i related to both of you and i genuinely loved the way you explained your point of view. You’re such an interesting couple i could watch you talking all day long
im glad sam brought up parkland so much because time moves so fast in our eyes now that i hardly see it mentioned as a major gen z moment but being in middle school when that happened and seeing kids my age do things i never imagined really did, for me, define my generation for the first time
I was born in 1995 so I'm on the cusp of gen z and millenial so its very interesting to see that I can relate to both sides of the spectrum in multiple ways. Very interesting to observe
I'm still surprised about how Gen Z, for the most part, wrote an ENTIRE musical! That's crazy to me. (obvs not just Gen Z, but we were a big part of it. Gen Z and Millenials worked together to do that, but yeah. Still surprising)
As someone who was also born in 1993 (July 17,1993) I love his answers and resonate so much with what he said especially about 9/11 defining our generation it’s crazy I remembering in third grade and seeing the images on TV sing horrified and just knowing nothing was going to be the same. I just remember growing up in the 90s and loving life so much and feeling peace and I agree I feel like the feel good vibes of 90s bubblegum pop and sweet sitcoms like friends were slowly going to fade away and something different would take over. The crazy transition from the prosperity of the Clinton years slowly faded to chaos in one day. Also I think he should have pointed out the financial crisis of 2007 and the unique impact it had on millennials. Lastly, in contrast to what he said, I think the best thing about millennials is the interesting balance we have between technology and still valuing real human interaction. Because social media and high speed internet didn’t really exist until most of us were in high school we still had a pretty traditional childhood. We understand technology’s value, but we also understand the importance of true one on one time, not just texting or virtual interaction.
2:40 The characteristic of acceptance and respect that Ryan claims was "started" by Millenials is literally the same claim made by Boomer hippies of the 1960s and 70s during the free love movement. The entrepreneurialism of taking new tech and proactively innovating and creating new kinds of business is literally what started the dotcom and internet world in which GenZ is doing the same thing. Conclusions: Generations aren't really different. People just act different when they are young compared to when they are older and they don't realize they have changed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!!!!! 🎉🙌🥳 you are a role model to everyone and you deserved everything you earned (that was worded weird my bad) anyways THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! keep being you girl
I love how they talk about the differences in young generations, by leading with ok Boomer which refers to babies from the 1940's and 50's. Most "Boomers" are actually "Generation X" :D
@@themacduckies Yes, I was born in the late 70's and I have been the recipient of "OK, Boomer" way too many times. even my parents are barely Boomers! lol!
I think religiously it has been the Gen Z era to be more accepting and had that influence on Millennial. I only say this because 2001 was the era of Millennial and that generation allowed the perpetuated the stereotype against Muslims. Gen Z was mainly born during this time and only sees people ostracizing a religion and thats all they remember from experience. I am one of those. I was in Kindergarten and don't remember the event itself from personal experience but I do know and have seen the exclusion and seclusion of an entire community that I have come to personally interact and learn from that I have connected with interfaithfully and beyond. I think that's a big influence of Gen Z over Millennial so maybe Millennial have been open to others but their generation has been influenced by Gen Z, which is also commendable as older people tend to set aside the beliefs of younger people.
Don't know why I would think to comment this, but just wanted to say I liked, (was already) subscribed, and I think you guys are really pretty. Again, super random that I thought of that off the top of my head before I got to 2:05 in the video
For a lot of people who have no 'real life' friends or acquaintances, online friendships aren't replacing face to face friendships they would otherwise have had. The internet means that instead of having literally no friends, at least they have online ones. I tend to think the internet is a good thing in this regard; if you're a weirdo in your small home town and can't make friends there, there's comfort in finding your people online. (It's me. I was the weirdo.)
I was born at the mid-point of the millennials (1989), and you did a great job explaining the differences and similarities between Millennials and Gen Z.
i never correlated the two ideas of gen z living w school shootings being almost your generational tragedy, & also the idea that gen z prefers to take their education into their own hands & oftentimes in an unconventional schooling way.
It never made sense to me that people born before the end of the millennium are Millennials, but those of us born on the actual turn of the millennium are Gen Z. (I’m January of 2000)
What Ryan said about 25% of teens not having an acquaintance is just plain wrong. It's an extreme exaggeration and he shouldn't be spreading misinformation, especially considering that he has said that he is bothered by misinformation before. I get that he was trying to make a point, but the numbers are just straight up wrong and he should take his source and audience into account before saying things like that. Those are shocking numbers and if people take it at face value then they will get the wrong impression, an impression that is very wrong based on statistics. I liked the video overall, of course, but I think they should be more careful about these sorts of things. I feel sort of bad for making criticism, but I think it's important and should be said. Pew Research, 2018: "Fully 98% of teens say they have one or more close friends: 78% say they have between one and five close friends, while 20% have six or more close friends. Just 2% of teens say they do not have anyone they consider a close friend."
@@vanessaajohn That's fair, but I don't think they could possibly change that drastically, especially considering that there are people who were teens in 2018 that are still teens now. Also, I could not find a source that comes even close to that number. I didn't see any studies that had been done more recently than 2018 that cover that specific subject, but ones that are similar are still much much lower than 25%. Saying that 25% of teens don't have an acquaintance is a gross overstatement. If you think about that in practice, it means that approximately a quarter of each classroom never speaks to anyone, including people outside of class. Even though students may have trouble talking to each other over Zoom, they would at least have an acquaintance from before the pandemic. Of course, people will define what an acquaintance is differently, but I can't see how 25% could possibly be the accurate number here, especially when there is no data pointing to anything even close to that that I could find.

I ended up message from my school, note that I wasn't in school at the time and was still on the update list for some reason, informing me that there had been a gun scare at school. Something similar happened with my cousin, although she was in school. I remember being maybe 6 or 7, maybe 8, and not wanting to go to school because I was scared that there would be a shooting. It's a big problem and I dont think it's talked about nearly enough. Like there's talks about school shootings and 'oh that's terrible, i hope its fixed somehow' etc, but no one talks about the effect it has on students' psyche or anything like that.

there is not a clear cut off yet between millennials and Gen z. some people say millennials (GenY) end 1995 or 1996 other people say its 1997 , 1998 or 1999 .
For me millennial range is betwenn 1981-1991 (max 1993). Having spent their childhood without mobile phones, without portable internet and above all without social networks .... Those born in 1996/97 already had a so so different childhood from 1983 for example.... Millennials for me, must have entered the new millennium having, at least 10/12 years old.
I love how Ryan says Millennials want to have work with purpose. It is so true. We have wanted to make a difference forever because we were told we should because we were the ones who kickstarted the real digital age... however it is also because working at that Taylor and then also working Uber Eats and passive income from UA-cam is a sad truth. I don't feel it is making a difference necessarily, I believe it is because the Taylor is paying pennies due to that Boomer or older Gen Xer believing that we can live off their version of minimum wage and still buy our own property and have that "American Dream" which is nearly im-fing-possible because of the inflation that has been created.

As a 19 yr old born in 2002. I agree. We have become less independent and have less responsibility. We haven't had a challenge to grow our skills.
I always consider any 90s born as a millennial, including 1999
She’s actually not that “senior” Gen Z because gen Z starts in 1997 and she was born in 1999 i would say 1997 is a senior gen Z
1997 gen z
here i am telling you how pretty you are. YOU GUYS ARE SO FUCKING PRETTYYYYY (i litteraly say this almost every video to😭)
Video Idea! What if you rank Heathers songs in the tier system like how you did with Ryan’s performances?
what Ryan said about wokeism in his generation is so true. everyone should embrace the positive affects of wokeism and use it. the world would be so much more peaceful.
I really need for a lot of people to watch this. It feels very self-aware and I think that's a big problem universally with both generations. The conversation was very coherent and as someone born right in the middle (1995), I appreciated the honest and kind conversation about different generational mindsets. Thank you for this.
i think the backing track to all the sam and ryan videos is stuck into my muscle memory
I am in love with Sam’s outfit 😍😊. Oh and Ryan looks good too😌
I think the worst thing about Gen Z is: with all the technology around, they are obsessed with it and they can’t seem to survive without it.
Sometimes I forget people past 16 are gen z but the real generation we have to fear is gen alpha those 5 year olds are scary
lol
Bruh 😭
randomly reloaded my home screen and this was uploaded 37 seconds ago lmao
"do I associate with my millenialness?... I associate it with the same way that I associate with gemini- which is like I don't" - this is such a perfect quote lmao
I loved the answer to, “do you associate w/your Gen?”
Ryan mentions the importance of surrounding yourself with ppl of all ages, and being well rounded. I, like Sam, was raised with older sib, and raised by boomer parents, and I was born in ‘99.
It’s an odd but really cool place to be in
I loved the video but honestly in the last question I couldn't relate cause both of the tragedies you mentioned kinda only apply to people who live in the United States and obviously people from other countries lived and live those news but I wouldn't say it defined the whole generation but those who live in the US and each country/continent has different events that defined each generation
fr no hate just bringing another perspective❤❤
this is so true!
my bisexuality loves seeing you both so gorgeous
Yes!
Worst thing about Gen Z: They make any random talentless person famous and rich. That sucks. Worst thing about millennials: very easily offended.
dads... there aren't any cc
You’re such an interesting couple i could watch you talking all day long
There's no such thing as an "old gen z". You still have a ways off before gen z starts getting old.
i did not know y’all had that age gap! i thought you were around the same age
im glad sam brought up parkland so much because time moves so fast in our eyes now that i hardly see it mentioned as a major gen z moment but being in middle school when that happened and seeing kids my age do things i never imagined really did, for me, define my generation for the first time
I was born in 1995 so I'm on the cusp of gen z and millenial so its very interesting to see that I can relate to both sides of the spectrum in multiple ways. Very interesting to observe
I was in born in '96. We got the best of both worlds!
Wait, Ryan and I share the same birthday??? I'm '94 though. Advance happy birthday to us, Ryan!
you guys are both so well spoken and gorgeous it is amazing
ryan is serving god damn looks in this video
this was on my recommended and i remember ryan from disney channel! its super cool to see where you are today. :)
I'm still surprised about how Gen Z, for the most part, wrote an ENTIRE musical! That's crazy to me.
(obvs not just Gen Z, but we were a big part of it. Gen Z and Millenials worked together to do that, but yeah. Still surprising)
Y'all should turn this segment into a podcast
Ok Ryan’s hair is a real vibe - also is he paying his camera person extra cause his quality was 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 thought it was my eyes playing tricks at first.
As a Gemini this intelectual conversation made my day (if u know u know) 😂
i (born 2003) definitely identify with gen z but at the same time I also always pass the "only millennials will pass this" quizzes...
And now it's when I realize Sam is only 21 and she has come so far. Good for you girl!
HOW ARE U GUYS BOTH SO PRETTY IM DYING
2:40 The characteristic of acceptance and respect that Ryan claims was "started" by Millenials is literally the same claim made by Boomer hippies of the 1960s and 70s during the free love movement. The entrepreneurialism of taking new tech and proactively innovating and creating new kinds of business is literally what started the dotcom and internet world in which GenZ is doing the same thing. Conclusions: Generations aren't really different. People just act different when they are young compared to when they are older and they don't realize they have changed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!!!!! 🎉🙌🥳
you are a role model to everyone
and you deserved everything you earned (that was worded weird my bad)
anyways THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! keep being you girl
I'm always so in awe of the knowledge I gain from these two
Omg guys! You are just so beautiful always! Never change! Love ya 😘
I love how they talk about the differences in young generations, by leading with ok Boomer which refers to babies from the 1940's and 50's. Most "Boomers" are actually "Generation X" :D
Boomers were about 1946-1964 while Gen X was about 1965-1980.
Hi Daddy's, I'm a Zillennial.
You guys should make this into a podcast
i dropped my quesadilla on the floor
Ok but why are they both like so attractive I can’t even
I’m a millennial but Sam and I are birthday buddies! Mines the 10th and I’ll be 30 this year 🤯💀
I was born at the mid-point of the millennials (1989), and you did a great job explaining the differences and similarities between Millennials and Gen Z.
i never correlated the two ideas of gen z living w school shootings being almost your generational tragedy, & also the idea that gen z prefers to take their education into their own hands & oftentimes in an unconventional schooling way.
It never made sense to me that people born before the end of the millennium are Millennials, but those of us born on the actual turn of the millennium are Gen Z. (I’m January of 2000)
there's also gen X, and Millenial, and Zoomers.....(and on more in between I think)
the way ryan just constantly pops off! so good!
I'm a Zillennial - cusper 1995
Me too. 1996. Us mid 90s babies are always forgotten 😂.
im really happy they made this video because i requested it a few times
With 2018 being awhile ago I’m sure after 2020 those numbers are different
In what world am I older than Sam?! She looks like shes in her late 20s? (Im 25)
P.s. absolutely no offense meant. You look amazing boo! Just thought you were older lol
I have social issues, I’m an introvert and also because I prefer texting people rather than talking to people but I’m fine talking to people older then me but people the same age as me are weird and kinda of toxic not all of them but it’s so difficult to start a conservation so I just don’t start one
Like there's talks about school shootings and 'oh that's terrible, i hope its fixed somehow' etc, but no one talks about the effect it has on students' psyche or anything like that.
so, when are the Sam and Ryan products coming out?
I love these videos both of you have great perspectives and opinions.
I'm birthday twins with Ryan down to the year! That is pretty cool.
It is a well documented fact that Gen Z is less independent from parents (have less jobs early, less responsibility, less freedom from parents). Not their fault, but I think it comes across in moments where they need authorities to solve their problems. I don't like what a kids says, better call the teacher... don't like what professors say, better call the faculty and get them fired... don't like my boss, better call HR and post a social media message. Definitely a decreased ability to solve their own problems. When I had a bully as a millenial, I learned to avoid, get beaten up or learn how to fight, I actually didn't run to my mom.
The only reason why I know I’m a Gen Z is because Sam is. She’s a couple months other than me. I was born January 31st 2000
I just realized I’m 6 months older than her.
Sam is only a year older than me, I am shocked.
same and i have the same birthday... just 9
years apart
His hair is so ‘90s, though. Lol. Makes him seem like an older millennial.
That 'hi daddy' from Ryan kill me and bring to live again in one second (?
Honestly she’s the only girl who can rock coloured hair
I read Gen z is from 1998 or 2000's to 2010's
there is not a clear cut off yet between millennials and Gen z. some people say millennials (GenY) end 1995 or 1996 other people say its 1997 , 1998 or 1999 .
ryan reminds me so much of cole sprouse its crazy
everything about this video!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
anyone else think they should do a group vs? i feel like that would be very entertaining or maybe bs with fans or smth? ( virtual)
He was in elementary school when she was a baby he was like 6 or 7 when she was a baby
Happy Late Birthday, Ryan! My birthday is June 15th.
sam and Ryan is soooooooooo pretty
I'm also a millennial as I was born in 1995.
YAYYYY! NEW VIDEO!
Loved ittt! 🥰🥰
You guys are so pretty
I see a Millenial, I click with pride
